I tried asking a value of a stock and Google Search didn't even show me a card and a voice answer. Does it work on the iPad?

on android it usually does a web search but displays the info in the browser not as a card. The next day if you launch google now it will show you a card with share price.

you can add stock in manually so a card will always show for those in google now.

Wait, don't just throw it away, can I have it? Because Apple and everybody else is already doing all that. It's not your data, I guess you didn't read all those long EULAs.

i READ the EULA and i understand it.
And no they don't do anything like that regarding to their eula.
They store the data and use it to provide the services i want.
BUT i can DISABLE them if i want.
I don't HAVE to give all my contacts, movement profiles and usage stats to apple. I can explicitely switch it off.

but if google now would be a key part of the os, i couldn't and therefore i dont want it.

Next and most important point, apple does not earn money with my data as google does.
Google uses the data to sell adds to me. Apple just uses the data to provide a service to me. Thats a big difference.

Wrong.

Google Now is not active by default on Android phones. You have to go in, and agree to it. >_>;

Absolutely correct. Because of the always on location services icon my phone will no longer last a full day.
I deleted Google + for the very same reason - And I will delete Google search because of it
The cries in Mountain View are said to be deafening.

It's been 24hrs and my weather card has not come back yet. I have noticed a large number of other folks in the thread having problems getting cards back that they swiped off as well. Seems like a big issue/bug that Google needs to solve.

I think you should re-read the agreement. Apple earns money on your data the same as Google.
iAds are served up in the same way Google serves up their ads.

Now take the tin foil hat off and enjoy your *cough* free *cough* Apple services.

Or just simply ask it what the weather is today and it will create the card again. ;)

Do we have any updates on battery life from users that have been using it for 24 hours and have turned off the location option in preferences?

Its funny how all the plonkers talk about location services. If Google cannot find your location it will not be able to give you useful information. This is where Android trumps ios. You can switch off gps if you are worried about battery use but in any smartphone there majority of there battery is consumed by the display. Even if you turn gps on Google now will only use it for a few seconds every now and then so the battery use is negligible. Not only will it use gps but use WiFi and cell towers to find location. Google will also use your desktop location to find your location when you signed on. In android if i search for a location on my desktop i already get a card for navigation to that location on my phone. It is there most amazing app it will predict what info you need and present it to you.
For those who are worried about Google knowing your location you don't have to use Google now. You have there option of searching all the info manually bit i prefer Google does it for me.

Pretty sure if Google released a placebo app for iOS that did absolutely nothing we would immediately hear, "Drained 10% of my battery in 10 minutes! Uninstalled!" It's just the way it is. ;)

Think of Google Glass

Just a thought that if Google Glass has to come to iPhone I'm guessing some sort of fundamental app will have to be installed - Google Now.

Assuming it's all part of the master plan.

One other thing the location history is pretty interesting, I can view my travels day by day for the year I've had this enabled in Latitude.

I originally tried it both ways on both my iPhone 5 and iPad 2.

Have had it ON on my iPhone 5, unplugged, since 7:45 this morning. So, 9 hours of use and only down to 72%.

iPad is at 86% with the same amount of time.....location arrow has been on both the entire time.

Always on a problem? Or is it the battery not begin able to run that is the problem, although, I am sure that they will add a setting.
And apparently, it isn't as powerful as the one on android -.- because :apple: won't let google do that, or is it a marketing scheme to get people to buy android?
I haven't tried the app on iOS, but it should be good.

It sees you when you're sleeping,
It knows when you're awake,
It knows when you've been bad or good...

Google is Santa Claus!

Anybody getting GMail cards?
Haven't seen a single one.
I'm mostly intrested in the Amazon order tracking integration.

Any more battery life updates?

I've been using it for two days now and haven't noticed any difference whatsoever with battery life. This is with google now switched on, location reporting on and the location icon permanently present.

This is from the first full day of using google now.

No battery drain at all on my iPad, too. My Android phone didn't have any either.
