I really can´t understand why a mac user install this piece of ****.
Because it has more features. For instance, you can't log into Safari with multiple Google Accounts.

Example: With Chrome, if your Company uses Google Workspace, you can sign in with multiple accounts, separating your bookmarks, history, multi-task & manage different workspaces, different Google Drives, different Gmail accounts all using 1 browser....

Chrome runs circles around Safari in that regard.

Shortly after Chrome first came out, my new (at the time) Mac Pro started waking itself up. Searching logs and Activity Monitor to see if there was a problem with my new Mac, I discovered Chrome running background processes and helpers w/o permission, even if the app wasn't open or the computer on! Deleted Chrome and the issue went away.

Needless to say I have not touched Chrome since!

I'd never use the same browser for private and company stuff, preferably not even the same computer.

Wow, Macrumors.

Still perpetuating the completely debunked "safari uses 10% of RAM" finding from a single test by a guy who didn't understand how to correctly check for memory use?
Even misquoting by saying it was "tests" not a single false report that was completely disproven and should have been removed from this website? And then daring to call the findings "contested". They are not contested, they are false

Disgusting and embarrassing.

You are perpetuating misinformation.
Well let me tell you this. I can use Safari sans flash anc my fans rarely come on. Two minutes of chrome and they are roaring. Chrome is not worth it for me.

And it still uses wayyyy more power/battery/RAM than Safari. Safari is just in a league of its own in terms of energy/power savings.
Except that both Chrome and Edge now use a lot less RAM than Safari due to safari caching, and the lack of sleeping tabs which chrome/edge have.

Power consumption on M1 is pretty much the same, if only just a tiny bit better on safari.

So Chrome was running if the computer wasn't on...? Eh?

I'm not saying Chrome is good or bad, I use Safari, Chrome and Edge and they all have advantages and disadvantages. I'm just against spreading known false information, we have enough of that in normal media and politics.

Nowhere in my post did I mention private vs company. It's all different "Work" spaces.

Anyway, at the end of the day everyone has different goals. Some want to multi-task & save time. Some want to keep their personal and work browsing separate. To each their own...

I always think about how 5x less CPU usage multiplied by 310 million users might add up. These changes may be too small to notice for an average user but what kind of global affect does this add up to? Given the performance per watt we're seeing with M1, it's kind of amazing to think about how it might benefit us on a macro scale. Apple always seems to be very conscious of these things. Just like removing the chargers which will add up to pretty amazing environmental impact.

Seems too little, too late. And not something I would make a public fuss about.

Much better to make substantial improvements in the background and have your users discover and sing its praises.

I might be misunderstanding something.. Why are we still using Javascript? Does HTML-5 cover this?
