I would feel embarrassed pulling out a Google phone out of my pocket in public. I dunno, pulling out an iPhone just feels cool. Hard to explain this psychological phenomenon.

With a Google product, you feel yourself like a second-class citizen that lives in a third-world country. Whereas Apple products feel luxurious, it's like owning a Porsche, or like living in Switzerland or Monaco.

You are aware that in some circles you are frowned, yes even looked down at for owning an iPhone?

And if this is your only or major reason for owning an iPhone, well...you may have some serious issues. I love my iPhone but I've never had any particular feeling or association when I - or someone else's their's - pulled it out of the pocket. Nor have I regarded my friends who have non-Apple-brand phones as second-class citizens. It's called preference and I am capable of accepting other people's choices even if I wouldn't choose it myself for various reasons. Of which the iPhone feeling 'luxurious' definitely isn't one.

Apple has their fair share of issues as well. Let's keep it even

I would say Google would have more experience behind themselves, vs Apple, with Google they focus on everything u can do with AI, where as Apple is only.. (well u can only use siri in areas we think you should you use it)

At least with Google u can carry on with missing key phrases you've just said so no need to keep repeating the name of that hotel, and it will still know u what are referring to..

Where is el negocio da store? Hope they made a 512 gb model so i can put many peliculas and all my music there to watch on the flights to puerto rico and miami. I travel very often cause i have familia and friends. I cant go there without a good present know what i mean? Spending bucks in these u love.

I'll pass, but at least Google Assistant is light years ahead of Siri. :(

Yea, its one of those engineering tradeoffs that all companies make. For example Bigger phone = batter battery life.
In this case it is privacy vs ability.

Do I trust Google, no, I understand I am the product they sell, and to sell that they need to know more and more about me. My privacy is lost in their need for income.

I trust Apple more because I am a customer, not a product.

Your POV may be different and you are willing to make other trade offs, we all have to make them, yours a different to mine is all.

No, the free offer is 16 megapixels, not "1080 resolution". I've been using it and my 12 megapixel phone photos are stored in their original quality, as far as I can tell.

It looks like you are correct, the "high quality" plan that allows for unlimited storage allows 16mp photos and 1080p video. https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6220791

However, Google still runs some compression on the photos to "reduce size." Some people have examples of artifacts and reduced quality, but it looks like for most folks this compression is mostly unnoticeable.

If you are a stickler for saving the original image file, no matter what, this might annoy you though. Once compressed, you can never download the original uncompressed version from Google.

unlimited high-res image storage

See above, 16mp photos or 1080p video with compression.

USB-C and headphone jack... Instant winner.

1. So, hmmm, how are you OnHub buyers feeling? Does that USB port work?
2. Pathetic cheap dig at the headphone jack. So, next year the Market will be full of lighting headphones that are compatible with 900 million iOS devices, and almost 0 USB-C headphones. Let's revisit this topic next year, Google. Pathetic.
3. Assistant is nothing more than a rebranded Google Now after the panic attack they got by Apple starting to opening up Siri. Even with their technical prowess, no one cared or used Google now on the real world. But Joes know Siri.
4. No new features, no new nothing, no useful nothing. Just rebranding what's already there.
5. Google Play music. Youtube Music. Youtube Red. One music service per chat app?
6. BTW, no one cares about any new Google service, so those chat apps are DOA, as usual.
7. It's hilarious to see older Google events and laugh it off of what they actually do after the hype.
8. Google home is a cheaper/"me too" answer to Homekit, so Android doesn't get years and years behind and steamrolled, like they are on any new category by usefulness and adoption. (home, payments, 64 bit, etc.).
9. Their phones are lower quality copies of an iPhone. A 749 6s Plus will have a more competent SoC, faster memory, more software support and updates, and a better ecosystem to boot.
10. Hype train and failure, as usual per Google.
11. Nice camera, most likely. Apple keeps saving on hardware components when they can, despite having the best SoC, memory and software. I know that it is all about scale and being able to produce 150 million devices per year, but still...
12. Lol

That's why they still have a headphone jack, so the transition to USB-C headphones is not forced like Apple. THINK.

This is an awesome device. Full AMOLED screen for true black and bright whites. 7 hours of usage from FIFTEEN MINUTES of charging. Nice, solid (iPhone-looking design). Google's awesome assistant built right in. And the best camera put into a smartphone, ever. So yes, it has a higher price tag. Not sure I understand all the hate and negative comments here. It looks like an awesome device. I want one, lol.

The iPhone 7 is NOT waterproof! It is water *resistant*. There's quite a difference between the two.

Apple warranty will not cover water damage.

At that price....

No OIS
No waterproofing
No stereo speakers
No wireless charging
No dual lens cameras
No Iris scanner
No 3DT

No chance.

I hear this all the time on these forums but is it true?
Try it yourself...?

If you feel like that over a phone, you must lead a very sad life.

It need to be voted before you can jump to the conclusion.

No, vote is just up. We now vote with money.

You must be living in your own world. Just because YOU don't need it, doesn't mean nobody else does. I see this type of logic with Apple fanboys all the time though. It's pretty ridiculous.

No, headphone jack is a relic. some people need VGA... And what now, should we include it on the iphone?

It's not just here, /r/android seems to be pretty negative on it as well. I think people were expecting a lot more for the price tag.

Right - so samsung has issues which means everyone else except Apple has also issues?

It's a reasonable question. There are consequences from aggressively charging Lithium-ion batteries. Of course I'm not saying something bad will happen and I'm sure google engineers have thoroughly researched and extensively tested their charging and battery system. But that was something that popped into my mind, especially in light of the Samsung issue.

but Android really is the better OS.

And then you try to develop software for Android. You open the hood and beneath you see maggots and rodents eating each other swimming in a stew of waste. It's truly an abysmal platform for innovation.

The only reason Android grew to become relevant today, is the same reason Linux grew to become relevant. Price.

Though one can argue for Linux, the OpenSource nature of the platform provided unique opportunities for servers and desktops. I don't think you can make the same argument for Android, because the mass market doesn't give a hoot about OSS on mobile.

Really?!

Yet, the Pixel has the best camera of any current phone on the market, according to DXOMARK:
https://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/Pixel-smartphone-camera-review-At-the-top

"With an overall DxOMark Mobile score of 89, pixel, the latest Google smartphone, is the highest-rated smartphone camera we have ever tested."

The dual camera iPhone 7 did not even make it in the top 5....

Kind of hard for the dual camera iPhone 7 to make it onto any part of the list as they haven't even reviewed it yet

I feel the iPhone is a little ahead of this device the only plus feature is the VR experience also I have privacy concerns still not very encouraged to switch to Android.

Pretty much a copy of Amazon Echo, Oculus Fabric Housing, and Apple iPhone 6.

I was hoping for a cheap 7 inch tablet like the Nexus 7.

ok, that looks like an iPhone 5. Why is the fingerprint on the back if you have that big of a bezel? Why no front stereo speakers on that big bezel? Not waterproof? Verizon or Project Fi only (I'm guessing that means you can put it on T-Mobile). O, and the Very Blue is already out of stock (YEAH RIGHT.... they even copied Apple's marketing style). Sorry, but this will be a bigger flop then the Fire Phone (no, not the Note 7.. which is a flop in its own right).

You're probably right. This is an attempt to reboot their failed Nexus line and position it in the premium category, except it offers no discernible advantage over other Android phones on the market.

At least with the Nexus, while cheaply built, it offered decent value. This one's a real head scratcher.

If it doesn't catch on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pixel phone quickly ending up in their famed graveyard of failed Google products and services.
