I would feel so embarrassed pulling out a Google phone out of my pocket in public. I dunno, pulling out an iPhone just feels so cool. Hard to explain this psychological phenomenon.

With a Google product, you feel yourself like a second-class citizen that lives in a third-world country. Whereas Apple products feel luxurious, it's like owning a Porsche, or like living in Switzerland or Monaco.

Google products feel like a smelly garbage that rots under your window.

I agree with you that Android devices (as Google products in general) do not have a premium feel. I notice that kind of thing a lot.

One thing I noticed from a snippet I saw of the announcement.

Only the bloke on stage laughed when he was on about the lack of camera bump.

Awkward.

Have to say it's not the nicest looking of designs.

Looks like a good phone, all-round.

Something the iPhone needs:
"Get up to 7 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. ⁴"

The unlimited storage is good too - even for video.
Yeah, that's pretty impressive I must say. Easy fix for Apple to compete on that though.

Competition, excellent. Maybe Apple will have to up their game.

This is not a dig at you but the quote itself is the most overused bunch of crap. Competition is good when there IS competition. Does anyone look at this Google phone and think "wow Apple must be scared"? If anything, atleast Samsung tries new things and attempts to push the market forward. This phone isnt making Apple do anything different.

Google and Samsung have fired cheap shots at Apple removing the headphone jack. It's gonna backfire on them when they once again have to submit to the fact that Apple sets the trend. Just saying.

I think the "jab" was in context with their promo video - everything being new... except the headphone jack. I think it worked in context as opposed to Samsung's attempt at a zinger.

Until Google designs their own SoC's and builds their own phones, they can't compete.

You're absolutely right. We're already seeing iPhone CPUs mincing the competition. Double the per-core performance is staggering. Now, let's throw in an optimised OS. Standardised hardware. Great build quality. Stores everywhere. Fabulous support.

If Apple keep this up, coupled with the rumoured aesthetic features of the next-gen iPhone, I just can't see what appeal any Android device could possibly offer anybody.

Plus the same price as an iPhone? They have to be kidding.

Which is why Apple is selling less iPhones. They need to do something different.

THIS IS THE PHONE THAT WILL DETHRONE THE IPHONE.

This is the iPhone killer. This is the iPhone 8 we're basically waiting for!!!
I sure hope Apple comes up with some really awesome stuff for the iPhone 8 cuz they are really going to need it now!
Somehow, I think they will.:apple::)

The only good thing (and it is significant) about Android is that it's the reason why an entry-level iPhone doesn't cost $1000. So don't bash Google even if you don't like the product.

If I wasnt buying iPhones I wouldnt mind trying that phone. Its not ugly, I dont understand what people are complaining about about. Its quite subtle and clean. I gotta say though its a bit too rip-offy of the iphones look and wallpaper as the marketing wallpaper. But all in all it looks like a nice phone. wireless charging blah blah....iphone doesnt have it either, stop whining.

Every well run Company is ALWAYS looking at what the competition is doing. It would be stupid not to.

But not even the first iPhone cost that much, yet Android didn't really exist...

Though I guess if you throw in the price of the contract, it came to much more than that. Not sure if you could buy the first iPhone SIM-free?

The assistant will be able to infer the context of a user's speech patterns when using Google Home, like asking the device to "play that Shakira song from Zootopia."

LOL, Siri already executes that request perfectly for me. Siri is hardly perfect...surely they could have come up with something that Google assistant would correctly execute but Siri could not do (but apparently not).
