Is the Google equivalent to Siri any better?

It would be really nice to be able to queue songs in the car instead of Siri randomly calling an ex girlfriend.

At this point i really believe Apple made iphone 16e at $600 just to keep their "premium" image.

The iphone SE will probably have better resale value in a few years than the Pixel. The iPhone-as-an-app feature for Mac OS is very useful to me. Don't mind paying $100 extra for that, not to mention that I would pay that much for Google to NOT access my phone data.

Addition of the ultra wide camera on Pixel is a big benefit. The 16e should have more colour options. Don't think this future upgrades to this phone is ever going to get faster display refresh rates.

well, I don't care about Excel as I spend several hours daily in Pages and Keynote. They both are much superior to any MS product (and yes, I have Office subscription).
I disagree. Excel is a million times better then pages, numbers and keynote.

and you want apple to do so?

That last sentence of yours really bugs me. I'm sorry but especially after the 2024 elections, you cannot convince me privacy is a good argument anymore. You're not going to be safer from corporations just because Apple is (supposedly) only enabling shady practices instead of doing them outright.

If you see Google as the boogeyman, you have to see Apple as its accomplice.

The pixel 9a is good in North America but where I live it is somewhat outclassed by other options, unless you really care about having a stock experience. The iPhone 16e is good as a company phone on Apple infrastructure, but I wouldn't bother looking at it as a consumer.

I’m wondering why this story is even a thing. The Google 9A is delayed already. Sounds like the ghost of Samsung past has reached into Google. A massive production issue has hit components.

idk I think they made it because they realized they can charge corporations (aka phone for employees) because of them being enabled by current economic conditions which allowed them to raise the price by like 30%. For the average consumer this phone is ******* for the price. Especially in the EU where you add taxes, see cheap internet plans, and have to worry about Chinese phones and EU legislation.

wow, really nice price point! The the device does not seem like it is worse then 16e. On the contrary.

Pixel-9a is catering to a very demanding crowd. The biggest flaws is its use of gorilla glass 3 (released in Jan 2013), and a very dated bezel design.

Outside of USA, phones from oneplus, oppo, vivo, xiaomi will run circles around this phone in spec and design.

In USA, it will have competition from Samsung and Motorola. Even now, Motorola has a larger share than Google in USA (source https://www.counterpointresearch.com/insights/us-smartphone-market-share/)

It might compare favorably against iphone 16e in some ways but iphone users are not going to switch because of that. Iphone 16e is Apples way of welcoming customers who want to save $200 (a welcome with the middle finger). It seems they have taken chips which are rejected for iphone 16 (as all the cores are not working) and put it on a 3 year old iphone 14 case to create this new phone. You can clearly see it when you notice that the only color options available are black and white. It is like Apple saying - be glad that we have something that fits your budget.

Overall I doubt comparing Pixel-9a and iphone 16e will help people make decisions on what phone to buy in the future. Pixel-9a customers will research other brands and iphone customers will swallow the bitter pill and buy the next Apple phone.

Yeah… sure, in four key ways. Like the hundreds of other Android phones that on paper are vastly superior to the iPhone… and yet. Globally, people can’t pay enough for Apple’s offerings. Enjoy your sustained ‘topping’ Google… maybe someday Apple will get it ‘right’ /s

Totally. Plastic back, old version of Gorilla Glass on the front, slower charging. Build quality matters.
