Google's New Wire-Free Pixel Buds A-Series Are $60 Cheaper Than AirPods

See how they have a thin stem connected to the ear tip that leads back to the main body?

Yeah, these might actually stay in people's ears, unlike ridiculous AirPods Pro which are the worst in-ear design ever made.

Another victim of apple's marketing, it seems. Somehow Apple has justified overpricing their products in the name of "privacy"

There is literally zero way that the pixel buds could spy on you, but yeah sure go ahead and pay $60 more cause you bought into apple's marketing

Basically. Marketing geniuses, yes. It has become near-cult status like Tesla and some others.

If you don't want to be tracked, newsflash, better stay off the internet. Like completely. And pay with cash everywhere and a ton of other things most sane people aren't willing to do.

It isnt just Google collecting metrics and user data on you from the web. Nearly EVERY website out there has some sort of baseline (or more) analytics set up.

And even off the web (plus on for their sites). Use a grocery store rewards card? Tracking your habits and other metrics. Home Depot account? Tracking your purchases, habits. All being used for marketing; same as Google does.

Use a credit card? Theyre tracking your spending habits and to sell to advertisers. And people should read up on Apple Card. May be shocked that only so much is actually "not sold" at certain levels; what seems to just be the bank level. See https://www.denverpost.com/2019/08/31/credit-card-privacy-concerns/
"This is where Apple’s advantage starts to fade. Once my banana purchase passed to card networks run by Visa and Mastercard, either might have shared them — in an anonymized form — with businesses ranging from tourism bureaus to Google."
"One Mastercard program particularly irks privacy advocates. Bloomberg has reported that data from millions of Mastercards — now likely including Apple Cards — ends up helping Google track retail sales."

I just wish people would get their heads out of the sand that Apple is some type of Jesus figure. They are doing their part to help, but it's barely making a dent if you do anything else in life basically. And google isnt the devil on the flip side. Nothing is black and white like that.

Airpods feature hearing assist, which pixel buds don't do. For older people it's amazing.

It's not just live listen. Use Mimi hearing test (free) to build a hearing profile, then enable headphone accommodations. Your iPhone now adjusts all the audio output using the profile information.

It's super cool, and only works with beats and airpods.

This ^^ So much this...

I think some people are having trouble separating their emotional feelings and memories of younger, smaller, more "upstart" Apple of a 15+ years ago..

...and the absolute behemoth, most valuable company in the world (at any given time) they are now.

I just wish they, or Amazon, or "somebody major" would make essentially an AirPods 1/2 clone.

I really really love that form factor where it just rests in the ear and is semi-open to outside sounds. (as opposed to a "plug" type)

Alternatively, I wish Apple would just price the AirPods 1/2 style at the appropriate $79-99, particularly given their age and dated style/technology at this point in time.

Maybe they keep them around as AirPods Classic? (works for me!)

Same here. Not many options for this style. I have AirPods but never use them now I have Galaxy Buds Live. Much better quality sound for same comfort.

For real. If only we knew a company who makes more on other products; even pre-Airpods... 🤔

By that logic Apple was making double everyone else pre AirPods in 2015 and should be giving them away!

Yes. Thank you for catching the sarcasm and the hypocrisy of the OP.

They all seem well and good. But I’ve passed on both. I‘ve become a big fan of the Jabra line. 75 Elite Active currently. Great sound, fully functional no matter what device you use.

Can’t be beat for my money.
