If they could actually match my current AT&T plan, I'd like to drop my 12 years of contract with them. Yes I have tried verizon, sprint, and a few others and they suck. If someone could actually compete with AT&T when it comes to high speed tethering.

No WIFI calling? Yeah, that's a deal breaker. Living and traveling in the Intermountain west with t-Mobile signal doesn't cut it without WIFI calling. I live in the middle of town and barely get 1bar with t-Mobile. Yeah, WIFI calling is essential here if the system your using used t-Mobile towers.

At the very least, you can use Hangouts to make WiFi calls. I don't know if it can receive calls, however.

The lack of carrier switching is the real deal breaker for me. That is one of the most interesting aspects of the service. Shame iOS can't handle it.

Great news that Google has opened Fi up to iPhones and other Android phones as well. I’ve been using the service for 2 years now and it’s been great. Traveling overseas and not having to worry about massive roaming charges or having to buy a local sim card has been awesome. I’ve also been able to call my cousin and brother who both live abroad and it only costs $0.01/min. Definitely happy I switched!

If anyone is looking to sign up and wants to save $20, use this referral code:

Clicked the link to the App Store, it switched me to the US App Store, and now I can’t switch back without losing my store credit and iTunes match subscription, great!

So my choices are:
$148 for 2 lines with unlimited everything and ALL my iPhone functions, on Verizon, the largest and fastest cellular network
OR
$160 for 2 lines and speeds slowed down after 15gb, PARTIAL function of my iPhone and piggy backing on T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Sprint networks?

No. $135+ taxes is the maximum you'll pay for 2 lines (see https://fi.google.com/about/plan/). That also includes data sims, tethering, and international roaming. Fi is a great deal for many people.

Aww Cr*p, sorry to hear that.

What did Apple say to do about it?

So basically apples works up down left right to keep their devices as private as possible, and yet people happily jump to google at the first opportunity.

This world is ****ed.

It seems like Google will do almost anything to get all 5e data they possibly can from you. They don’t give a sht about getting into the cellular service industry. This is just another nozzle attached to Google’s giant Hoover in the sky reaching around for more sucking action.

All I'm saying is to put your money where your mouth is. If you're not okay with Google collecting your data, why are you okay using Google's search engine, or their mail app, or their cloud services. People love to be hypocritical about what outrages them. This one thing that everyone uses I'm okay with, but this one specific less reaching thing that only a few use I'm not okay with. Collecting data via Google Fi crosses the line, but not the twenty other Google services you currently use where the data collection is even more responsible for the company's profit. That's okay. Everyone likes to think they are a part of the resistance when they're actually just a part of the machine.

Why are you assuming I (or anyone) uses these Google services or aren't already "putting our money where our mouth is"? I've had all my devices on DuckDuckGo for about 2 years now. I don't have a single Google app on my iPhone. The browser I user are Firefox and Safari.

I absolutely go out of my way to avoid Google.

I’m not a big fan of how Google operates but some here are quick to make bold claims because it’s the trendy thing to do.

I’m asking for sources about the claims in which Google will be tracking conversations and texts. All you provided are assumptions.

You are of course technically correct. But when something walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and has done so for it's entire life, I don't need to take that animal to a zoologist to determine that "yes, this is in fact a duck". It is totally reasonable to consider past behavior to predict future behavior.

Because it's not an outlandish assumption to make. I'm curious what nav app you use. Or how you avoid watching youtube videos. It is a rather cumbersome and difficult task these days to avoid Google, since they own a large portion of the internet. If you're going to assume ducks are ducks, it's not far off to assume that most people who complain about Google, use Google products given the company's far reaching ubiquity. If you've actually managed to avoid everything Google, you are certainly the exception to the rule.

I use Apple Maps of course! :) I'll still watch Youtube but on the web and never logged in.

This argument that one must either avoid everything Google or nothing is a logical fallacy known as "false dilemma". Those are not the only two options--One can do their best to avoid as many Google products to lessen their entrenchment in different areas. Visiting a youtube link someone sends you is a much lesser weight decision than deciding to willingly pay google for Fi. I just don't get paying an advertising company twice (once with cash and again with data).

Also there's absolutely nothing wrong with complaining about Google even if you use their stuff. That basically describes the entire MacRumors comment section when it comes to Apple! :D
