Way too expensive. I am in Europe now and get a ton of data and minutes for 10€/mo prepaid. International SIM prepaid plans are no longer an issue or too expensive. The cheapest this service will run is $30/mo for 1GB. How that is a deal is beyond me. 2 lines for the full GB still approach $100 which is excessive.

You guys really need to stop comparing everything to Sprint and Sprint MVNO’s. Sprint will always be cheap because it is garbage. They can’t even give a year of service away for free.

I did the year of free service on Sprint and then got on the $15/mo. Unlimited Kickstart plan and I've been very happy with my service. I have no problem getting a signal in the areas that I frequent.

Just because Sprint or Google Fi doesn't work for doesn't mean that it doesn't work for everyone.

It's great that you can get Verizon's unlimited service for $80/mo. But if you don't need it why pay for it.

Some people use their cellular service as their sole Internet Service Provider and those people probably need or want to be on Verizon's or AT&T's unlimited plans. But not everyone wants or needs that level of cellular service.

I don’t understand why everyone is getting so butthurt about the price... Unlimited on 2 lines would be $135+tax and that’s comparable to something like T-mobile One Plus which is $150 or Verizon Beyond Unlimited at $160+tax or ATT Unlimited&more premium at $150+tax.

The only downside is that they throttle you at 15GB - the upsides (on supported phones) are you get access to 3 networks instead of 1, full speed international roaming, free SIM’s for other devices, and a much lower bill on months you use less than 6GB.

For iPhone specifically I wouldn’t use it because of all the missing features, but the price is not unreasonable for what you get.

I mean, good for you? But you cannot compare the price of Sprint to other networks. If you’re happy with Sprint get Sprint but the network and coverage is not comparable at all.

Do we? Considering our longer warranties and included taxes we seldom pay more the in the usa. But our countries have the money to give us working social security and health care because of the taxes.

For those who don't use much data, have good T-Mobile coverage and don't mind dealing with Google it is a good deal.

If it wasn't for Google and the fact I have poor T-Mobile coverage where I live I would jump on this in a second.

A good number of these non-carrier plans out there. We have Xfinity internet. Thus Xfinity Mobile appealing for the No phone and text useage charges, only data using Verizon Network. The data by the gig shared works for us. Winter months, our Total costs for two iPhones, $12 a month. In the summer months, costs rise to $60 a month for both iPhones. Average costs last year, $30 a month for two iPhones. Unlimited for two iPhones $90 a month as an option with easy switch to by the gig. Not a bad deal at all.

I had Project Fi for about two years before finally dropped them because I didn't want to carry an old Nexus phone anymore just to use them.

the iPhone worked on google fi with these same limitations before google “supported” the iPhone. So I guess, thanks, google?!?

Except it wasn't officially supported which meant if you had issues they wouldn't help you.

I was all set to sign up for this because AT&T has major coverage holes in my area, AND I bought an unlocked XR yesterday. But no wifi-calling and no network switching?? What's the effin' point?

Well, if you're a T-Mobile iPhone person and have someone in your family with a Fi compatible phone, and they need better reception, then this makes it easier to transfer service to Fi. Or you're a heavy iOS Google Voice user. That's all I can think of.

I was hoping Fi would come to iPhone and in the meantime I had switched to Cricket. I'm surprised at how much I like Cricket and actually plan on staying with them. For $35 after taxes, I get 5gb data. There's some disadvantages that might bother other people, but it works great for my needs.
Nice! I love prepaid. Even if I’m not saving a lot of money in the long run, I enjoy the freedom to switch carriers whenever I please. If your phone is unlocked or Verizon compatible, check out Total Wireless. I’ve used it off and on for 2 years and love it. $35/month for unlimited talk/text and 5gb data on Verizon network. As of last month they were running a “switch and get 50% more data” promo. So for $35 I’m getting unlimited talk/text and 7.5GB data on Verizon network.

How do the words ‘Google’, ‘cellular’, and ‘service’ go together in any way, shape, or form?

I wouldn’t let Google take out my garbage, even though they probably already know what’s in it.

I'm paying 9€ a month for unlimited text/calls and 50gb of data in France.
These USA rates are insane.

That’s just your first year with Free, then it’ll go up to 20/month. Also, can’t compare individual European countries, like France with the size of the US.

US national carriers have to cover areas and territories where no one lives or are very sparsely populated. And they generally provide the very high quality service in those areas (Verizon). They have to recoup those investments somehow.

I'm not trying to compare Sprint coverage to any other network. I'm trying to point out the fact that people have different needs and different use cases. Just becauase something might not work for one person doesn't mean that it won't work for everyone.

Google Fi is a great service for people who spend most of their time in urban areas and don't consistently use a lot of cellular data. But as I pointed out if your smartphone is your sole ISP then Google Fi probly isn't a good option for you.
