I have a Night Owl Camera System at my home. Around $400 for the 8 camera model. In addition, I've added four or five dummy cameras in very obvious places.

Since I installed the cameras and alarm, my home has never been touched. However, my neighbor's house across the cul-de-sac was burglarized. Their XBox 360, games and laptops were stolen. The recording from one of my cameras led to the apprehension of their "friend", who in broad daylight while they were working to earn a living, stole from them.

When you install you camera system put the recorder somewhere that isn't very obvious. Mine is in a closet. I ran the video out wire to my living room television and master bedroom television. We just click on A/V and we can see all 8 cameras. Or from laptops or iPads.

The Night Owl has a very easy to use app and web interface.

This. Your average thief is smart enough to know you don't hit the same house, or even the same neighborhood, twice. You never return to the scene of a crime. Especially in the same week.

That money's gone dude. Trust me, I have siblings. I wouldn't give him another cent if I wanted my money back, especially if I thought he was a thief.
