it no larfing mater, 0p obvisly doent haf inglish as fist langage,

As I said previously, I'm pretty sure OP's first language is English, he is just writing everything phonetically, without regard to spelling and punctuation rules. People who learn English as a second language usually don't make spelling mistakes, they usually can spell better than the average native speaker.

How is everyone so sure the 5 will be announced in a couple of weeks? I'd bet it'll be longer than that.

Several reasons.

1. iPad 4 was announced last October, Apple usually (though not always) sticks to one-year cycles with their product announcements.

2. If they don't do an announcement in October, they'll be late for the holiday shopping period.

3. OS X Maxericks just went GM, which means it'll be released in a few weeks. Which means new Mac models will likely be announced then alongside its release. Which seems a perfect time to introduce the new iPad(s), in a combined Mac/iPad event.

Why so dead set on skipping the 5? The 5 is the first major design change in years.

Even no I won't return my iPad am selling my window 8 laptop and I use the $ two get the iPad 5 window 8 sucks any ways and I use my iPad more now then I do my window 8 laptop I can't wait for the iPad 5. And I keep the iPad 4. Has a back up

Considering now there is a thread that "snow" is/has returned the 4. What next, Batman? :D

How long usually is an announcement before a new iPad is released to the public? Last year the 4 was available first week in November.

And last year's announcement was in the last half of October. If they stick to a similar pattern, it'll be a week or two between announcement and release.

Seriously?

Some of you need to get over the fact that you're just on a public forum and that you really don't know as much as you type.

I myself just bought a refurbished iPad4 for my wife as a gift. She's def. not the "tech monkey" that somes of you are and could care less about having the "up-and-coming" iPad5. For her, it lets her Skype and Tango to her family in Vietnam, check her email, find her goofy Korean dramas, and whatevers on Facebook and Instagram. Sometimes it's just about something that does exactly what you needs it to dew.

I think the personal attachments that sum of you have to Apple and release dates and knew products is ozsome!

Butt donts goes and say yu no more than us cuz u really aint all that u thinkz u bee - squat!

Lmao in on roll thread.

Bunch of 30+ year olds are getting clowned by a teenager.

My rule of thumb is to stick with the version of iOS that was released when the device was released, upgrade only when necessary.

For the iPad 4 that would be iOS6.

The flaw with this logic is that some of the new hardware that's coming out with iOS 7 preinstalled runs the same chip as the iPad 4 (A6/A6X). Two examples would be the 5c, and potentially, the Mini 2. This should really imply that iOS 7 was designed for the A6 right from the start, as there are still products that have yet to even be announced that will likely feature this processor.

I know it's hard to see someone just spend their hard earned money on a device that about to be replaced in 2 weeks.. We want to justify their purchase but it's not our right or entitlement..

We merely gave them the insight to return it, and wait for the ipad5, which obviously is where money is better spent. Some people see $50 outweighing a device that is double the horsepower, offers better battery life, is thinner, weighs less.. and more or less superior in every way.

Nope, no flaw in my logic. You are assuming that there is nothing besides the SoC to factor into consideration. It's not that simple.

True enough. But in my experience, I've found that iOS devices usually work well with the next generation OS after the initial release. It's the one after that that gets dicey. So if a device originally came with iOS 5, it is no problem to update it to iOS 6. iOS 7 is iffy, and iOS 8 is no way, even if for some reason Apple releases it for that device.

Hi

We'll at long last I got my iPad 4 And with iOS 7 on it I love it vary march I will be skiping the iPad 5 and wait for the iPad 6 the iPad. 4 will do me for a long long time

OP is confusing. He is going to keep the 4 for a long, long time, but now has another thread ( As mentioned) that he sent the iPad 4 back, waiting for the 5. Now if that's a long, long time than I'm confused...Or is it that the OP is confused ?

That was the dumbest thing you could have done. I would keep it for 2 weeks and return it as iPad 5 is coming in less than a month. When iPad 5 comes out, the resale value of iPad 4 will go down significantly, even if you're gonna sell it in 2 years. So you'll automatically be out around $200 once iPad 5 comes out.

Sorry but won't be taking. It back the iPad 4 was $50 off at walmart wish made it $449 wish was a good deal I will wait tell the iPad 6 two come out that will be my next upgrade and intell then the iPad 4 will do for me

Don't mind them, did good.

Enjoy!

Why so dead set on skipping the 5? The 5 is the first major design change in years.

You guys act like the iPad has been around forever. In reality, its only been a little over 3 years now. Each subsequent release excluding Retina has been iterative and design-induced, with minor performance enhancements (minor meaning 90% of users won't notice or need the extra "kick").

The 4 is a perfectly capable device and it is unarguably a "different" iPad than the 5. It is a different design. Different doesn't mean better. I still actually prefer the look of the original iPad in some ways, especially the back.

I like the idea of ipad5 because 4 sounds like death in chinese.

Plan is to get a 5 and then upgrade when ipad8 comes out.

Congrats. I still have my iPad 2, and I enjoy it immensely. Your iPad 4 will serve you well for years to come. Do yourself a favor and don't get caught up in the "I must have the latest" nonsense you hear around here. You'll be much happier for it.

I just brought a new one today along with a new base 15" retina If a new one comes and is amazing I'll simply sell and buy again. I change every revision through its life cycle. May be just not straight away.
