Centrino is an Intel CPU type, Penryn is a Centrino, the Newly made Centrino 2 Intel processor is supporting graphics in a new stronger way, perfect for mobile gaming.

Answer to your question...

A swing and a miss...It is not a mobile CPU, it refers to a combination of mainboard chipset, mobile CPU and wireless network interface.

The CPU = 2.53 GHz (T9400) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn

Congratz on the new MBP.

I went to Regent street myself yesterday and had a play. The Build quaility is very good. The only thing that disapointed me was the gaps in the lid/screen at the base of the LCD (look down with the screen open on the left and right hand sides. If you look down there you will see a gap between the lid and the screen....a nice place where crap with gather.

I ordered one myself online....though the 7days shipped comes to 30-31 oct...hmmm maybe apple has redefined the term Shipped....

Oh well, the only info I ever got on Centrino 2 was that is should enhance mobile gaming.
What a problem is has become to buy my first Mac, I might aswell go with the current 17".

Only things I will miss on the new pro is DDR3, maybe the mousepad and design, else... I think I am covered for what I need to use.

I would not recommend getting the 17" it will be updated within 2 months, and you can get a 15" for a great price right now so why pay full price for a 15"

The only reason to get the 17" is Firewire 400 and Matte screen.

I agree, did not buy today, have to wait two weeks for delivery anyways, so I will wait. Thou in the end I might be good on the 15,4".
And I love the new mousepad, it is so much sweeter then the old one, even for me, an never before user of laptops.
Keep your fingers crossed for the 17".

We could only hope, but doubtful. When and if the 17" comes we will know.. . unless the leaks are as accurate and good as they have been up until the release of the late 2008 MB and MBP.

That glass screen and black border gives the look of a Hi Def television.
Haha, true though.

Oh yea, I heard from the iFixIt website that the new MBP optical drive is SATA? So does that me it is possible to replace the optical drive to another hard disk? Not that I will want to do that just thoughts :D
