Well they left a voicemail because I was in a meeting. They basically said they couldn't get me an appointment for launch day for the device I wanted (surprise surprise) and that the device would be available within 2-3 weeks (is that it WILL be there IN 2-3 weeks or 2-3 weeks MAX?) They did also email me saying they'd like to still speak to me on the phone and to email back with a call time.

EDIT: They called back and it was basically what I expected. "Upgrade program customers are the priority...expecting the product within 2 weeks, but hopefully much sooner...we'll let you know the minute your store has one in stock and the Upgrade customers will have priority over stock"

Nothing ground breaking or overly positive, but it seems like they're really trying the best they can to hasten the process, short of inviting us to Shenzhen to make our own iPhone.

Anyone else hear back yet?

Do you mind posting email? Minus sensitive info.

Haha I wish I could, I would just feel weird on the inside. If anyone else is more comfortable, go for it though and see what they get!

The email itself said nothing of note, the pertinent info was in the voicemail...and just my luck they called my phone that's still on iOS 9 or else I would have screen capped the transcription.
But here's that email anyway... IMG_1064.JPG

What precipitated them contacting you? I'm eligible to upgrade on the 23rd and curious if there's something I can do to ensure I get the 7 on or as soon after that date as possible.

I called 1-800-MY-APPLE this weekend when they changed the verbiage on the Upgrade Program Reserve page. Chatted with them for a bit, they took my info, and said I was on the priority list. Idk how much stock I actually give that but better to be on the list than not I figure. But they did follow up with me today and said I would be receiving a call the minute there's a device available at my store, so it seems to do some good to call? I also set up a script that pings the CDN and alerts me when there's a reservation available for my store, so I'm covering my bases.

Hope it all works out to your satisfaction. It is a shame that they mishandled this. I think they should throw in a leather case for your trouble.

What did you inquire about? The flaws of the upgrade program?
I was simply following the instructions on the page: "If you can't find the model you want...call 1-800-MY-APPLE and mention the iPhone Upgrade Program so a Specialist can help you find the model you're looking for." Figured it couldn't hurt.

Let me guess, a 7+ Jet Black?

I'm going to try calling them tomorrow. What happened to us really is unfair. I'm not expecting much but they need to hear from us and our own experience with the upgrade process. Hopefully this will help improve things next year.

Why stop there, why not a free iPhone? Or tea time with Jony? Clearance to race karts in the spaceship parking lot?? Sky's the limit really.

I bet you could easily get stuff. Last year I had reserved an iPhone for in store pick up. When I arrived my phone was gone, they didn't have one for me. I got the run around... I sent an email to the higher ups, my local store called me. I got offered a leather case and dock. I declined the dock but took the case.

I'm sure I could but meh. I'm fine with just the phone arriving before my next payment is due.

I hear you. I was more upset with the way the Apple Store handled the situation then I was not getting my phone. Anyways, best of luck to you, hope you get it soon!

Waiting to hear back. Called in yesterday and spent almost 50 minutes on the phone to get to the right person. Not holding out hope.

On the phone at the moment, after being on hold for an hour and the guy I'm talking to does not seem to know about the iPhone upgrade program situation.

Final time on the line: 2 hours and 50 minutes. They told me they'd get back to me within 72 hours, not the 48 hours they had been telling people. Sounds like they must be getting overloaded with requests.

Did you tell them about the 3 hour wait? I would email Tim tcook@apple.com
