This is the last thing in the world that I need, but it's so well designed and integrates into iOS so very well, it's very tempting.

LOL same here. I want it so bad. But I don't think I could justify the need for it. Especially since I have an iPad :(.

Could this be used as and when needed like an external battery pack. I wouldn’t want to keep it on my phone everyday as it will ruin the battery but wouldn’t mind having one on hand for trips or heavy usage days.

Certainly you could just use it when you need it. I am sure I won't use it every day but for most days this means I don't have to plug in in the car anymore... and on travel or amusement park days I won't need to carry a battery pack anymore.

I don't think we have any proof it will ruin your battery though honestly I don't worry about that at all.

I think you mentioned at one point that you travel a lot through flying. If it was me, I would likely invest in one if I traveled extensively, fortunately I’m always near a charging port. But to me, I always like to keep my battery usually at 80% or higher, so I could see myself wanting this case, realistically, I’m not the demographic that would probably need the extended battery life.

Keeping the case on the phone all the time won't ruin the battery. However, you can use it as one would use a battery back charger if you wish.
[doublepost=1547861149][/doublepost]For those interested, I placed the new Max battery case on my phone with the case fully charged and the phone at 61%. I watched a short video and browsed the forum and Feedly (about 20 minutes) while the case was charging the phone. Once the phone got charged, the case battery showed 15%.

How long does it take to charge both the iPhone XS Max and the Smart Battery Case from 0% to 100%? I've never owned one of these things, but Apple's website says it takes longer than their normal charging duration. In that case, is it better to charge them separately?

Gah! No way I can resist now. Yeah I completely forgot about this. I always take a 10,000 mAh Anker with me it’s second nature. This would help that a lot.

For those with the Apple leather case who are considering this new case, the bottom lip of the new case can be slightly felt when swiping up. However, I have not experienced any decrease in use, compared to the Apple leather case I was using the last 4 months.

In regards to sound, I have not noticed a decrease in volume or quality with this case, compared to the aforementioned Apple leather caae.

So, does it fit in your pocket with the battery case? Thanks for any info!

Does this case constantly charge your handset and keep it at 100% until the case batteries dies, after which the phones own internal battery is then used?
If so, isn't this bad for the iPhones own internal battery?? I mean, keeping it at 100% all the time and not allowing it to cycle unless the case battery is completely dead?
My iPhones are almost always plugged in (at home, in the car, at the office, etc.) and I've never had a single problem with my battery. In fact, all of my Apple devices are used in this manner (with the exception of my Apple Watches). Lately, when people are looking at buying my used devices, inevitably they want to know about battery cycles and health. The fact that my batteries always have a low number of cycles has always been a selling point for the people who buy them.

There is no benefit in frequent discharging of batteries in modern electronic devices.

I wear it in my back pocket with the case. I am female and my jeans are not baggy. It fits no problem...and I have an iRing on the back. I did have to take the case off last night as it wouldn’t fit in my tiny purse for a black tie event I attended.

Just picked a white one up at the Apple Store across the street, put it on, and renamed my phone to Beluga

This is what I thought, but I got the "service battery" warning on my Macbook Pro, and paid the $199
for a battery change. I had a very limited number of charge cycles on it for the age (2016), and the Apple rep blamed that in the testing. I even fully drained the battery 1x per month. I think it does help to have partial discharges (but not many full discharges) despite Li-Ions not having an actual memory to keep electrons running through it.
Some sources agree and others disagree. My friend who uses his battery a lot and a 1 yr older device has zero issues.

I just exchanged the white I got with a black.

Two random purple spots which look like smeared ink appeared overnight around the Apple logo. I’m pretty sure I didn’t cause it!?!? I only had it charging overnight on a wireless charger.

For some reason the quality of the white silicone has changed since the 6s and 7 days. I had white silicone cases back then and they were pristine after one year.

Last year I got one for my X and that also had blemishes on it after 2 weeks.

I got the black one. I knew the white would look dirty in time...especially because I put my phone in my pocket and I know my dark jeans would rub off on it.

is anyone having an issue with the case disappearing from the battery widget with it installed? mine is at 0% but it should still show up in the widget.
