I returned my black battery case for the white. The black looks dirty too easy. You would think the white does, but
it doesn’t.

On my older iPhone 7 (not sure if its the same material), the white seemed to hold up better for longer.

Either way the silicone cases are going to get dirty and worn very fast however the battery case is just so useful that you can’t NOT have one after you are normalized with all day charge.

Apple store near me just received them in stock today (got delayed due to winterstorm we had). Yes I am aware that these come 0%-1% charged. Currently have the phone on the case and charging with the Apple 30 W USB - C Power adaptor and apparently is charging both the phone and the case itself (case now displays 20% charged). I wonder is that how it is supposed to be? I thought that when when you plug it into the power source that it would charge the phone first and once the phone fully charges then then smart battery case?

Edit: Currently phone is 76% and is charging and the smart battery case displays 24% and is charging at the same time.

Wow... definitely use a beefy charger for that thing (12w 2.4amps at least). :p

I think so.

I put it in charger around 5:15 pm and now it's 6:45 pm and both are fully charged using the Apple USB-C 30W Power Adaptor. This thing is a beast, it apparently does charge both the phone and the case itself at the same time.

If I am not mistaken, the phone gets charged first and then the case. I think that only applies to wireless charging, now that I think about it.

Quite possible that might be the case if charging it wirelessly. However when it's connected via cable (and depending on what type), it charges both at the same time and I have observed this with the Apple 30 W USB-C power Adapter that I got yesterday.

The charging varies according to state of charge of phone and case as well as power adapter being used.

If large enough power adapter is used both phone and case will fast charge if both are 0% to 70%.

If less power available phone will fast charge with any wattage leftover going to case.

If 5 watt power adapter is used all goes to phone until near completion then switching over to case.

Apple has it all figured out with phone taking priority. All other charging profiles still in effect, like slowing charge above 80% as you approach 100%.

It’s totally automatic so nothing to even concern the user. If you charge case alone it even has small LED to confirm it is charging.

Debating getting one of these for my iPhone X but really trying to resist the urge!

Would be keen to see how people get on with the colours and discolouration over time, does the white stain easy, does the black leave obvious marks etc

Be interesting revisiting this in a few months time to see the answer to these

Just bought mine today for my Xs Max and i think i will keep it. Phone is easier to hold and type, got no problems with the buttons. Mine also came completely dead, i used the 29w fast charger to charge it, now it’s good to go!

I also would like to get the 2 battery icons permanently on the lock screen... the ones when you plug or unplug the charger, or they could show the battery status of the case instead of the phone’s battery until the case is dead.
