So I've just upgraded from Iphone 5 to 7 and i am too having GPS problems and it seems I'm having the same problems that have been written about above. It seems to be that the GPS can't get a stable lock on the iPhone signal.

I spoke to a Senior Advisor today via the chat and he had me try lots of different things reset phone/re download the latest iOS via iTunes. try wifi only, try cell only in the end after 2 hours the chat timed out so we did'et finish up, but he has emailed me to continue when he his back in the office next.

Couple of apps I've been using is GPS-status which shows how the signal keeps going up and down and also did a quick walk with the iPhone 7 my old iPhone 5 and also a iPhone 6s and recorded it via run keeper. And what i noticed there was when we stod still for for a few mins the iPhone 5 and 6s where fine held there own position, but the iPhone 7 was all over the place. See files below first is the Iphone 5 then 6s and 7.

^^^ Dang. Yeah, that's not good.

I need to test my new one with a run. So far it seems much better with Waze and Apple Maps, though.

Just noticed yesterday when I used my GPS for the first time since getting the new iPhone 7 - it had a lot of trouble getting a lock on my location.

Using Waze - it periodically would say "No GPS. Try going outdoors..." And it sometimes it would find me, then sometimes it would lose me. Google and Apple Maps did the same thing - sometimes it would have me driving diagonally across streets in a neighborhood when I was cruising down the highway.

Not sure if Software or Antenna issue.

I did just notice that for some reason i'm on 10.0 and not 10.0.1 so I just updated and will try it again today. But posting now in case anyone is experiencing anything similar (or has resolved similar issues).

Do you have ATT or Verizon as your carrier?

Having the same issue with iPhone 7 on ios 10.0.2 - I was in the car with my wife who has the same iPhone 7 on 10.0.2 as well. I was using Waze and noticed that I did not have gps signal and also noticed at the same time that I would lose service frequently as well. I'm on Verizon in Westchester, NY and there's plenty of signal here.

I ran a test with Waze on my wife's phone next to mine in the car and noticed hers was working properly so I do not think it is a problem with the iOS but rather with a defective iPhone. Not sure if the color makes a difference but mine is Jet Black and hers is silver. Perhaps they're manufactured in a different place? I have no idea.

I called Verizon since I'm within 14 days of getting my phone and they're going to send me a replacement phone but I have to wait for a ship date of October 26th. Hopefully this one will work.

Same issue here and I am in the UK, I have tried what Apple support suggested but make no difference, I cannot even get an appointment for the next two weeks so will probably do a walk in and see if that helps. Mine is black in colour.

Here as well! GPS doesn't work, period. The blue dot just jumps from a point to another intermittently and I cant use directions in either maps or google maps. Looks like going to an apple store is the only solution?

I don't think it's a hardware issue, but most likely a software one.

There's a 39 page (current number at the time of this post) thread where many of us have been discussing these issues on Verizon for weeks: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-7-plus-no-service-vzw.1997680/

Several people have tried replacing their phones with no success. Eventually the problem seems to return.

Like you, I see dropouts while driving around town using Waze. When my wife is in the car with me, her iPhone 7 will still have a strong LTE signal when my iPhone 7 drops out. Then my iPhone will regain signal a few minutes later and hers will drop out. We're losing signal at different times. This behavior is most likely a software issue where something on the phone is crashing and causing the signal dropouts. That's my guess anyway. The problem only seems to occur while moving around indicating that the phone might be having trouble handing off properly from tower to tower. If I'm stationary at home (where I also work), I haven't noticed any issues. Then again, I only use GPS while in the car and not when I'm at home, so it could have something to do with GPS being in-use.

Many of us have called Apple and opened tickets. Apple has also had many of us log all of the telephony activity on our phones via a Telephony Logging Profile and we have uploaded our logs to their engineers. Supposedly they are already working on a fix. Fingers crossed!

I've been having the same issue with my iPhone 7. Honestly, I think it's an iOS 10 issue. Some iPhone 6 users who updated to iOS 10 are having the same issues as well. I'm hoping Apple puts out a software update for this because I so don't want to go to the Apple store lol. I'm an Uber driver so I see it happening all day long. It'll work sometimes, sometimes no. But it will put you in the area of where you are. So if you just read the written directions in Google Maps, you'll realize where you are and just follow the directions from there. Apple support set me up a reservation at the apple store but I missed it. I'm chatting to them now and they are trying to walk me through even more troubleshooting that I know won't work lol.

^^It's official! There is a batch of phones that have this problem. This person is in the UK! Most of everyone else is in USA

I have gps accuracy and stuttering problems as well on Sprint. iOS 10.0.2 and iPhone7. Here's to hoping there will be an update soon to fix our phones, assuming it is a software problem and not a batch of defective phones.

I'm in chat now with Apple Support. They ran a diagnostics report on my phone wow. Never did that before

For some reason I think it's an software issue. Because the issues that we are having is not the phone not being able to find our location. It's more of it being off track here and there. But notice how the location when it is off, is never really super far away. So the gps antenna is definitely working.

I'm seeing this same issue in Waze. I had hoped it was software but it sounds like it might be hardware. I hate going through the exchange process, ugh.

It *seems* like Waze still works okay? But I do get the "no GPS found" message at the top, every time I launch it for morning/evening commute.

I'm currently working with Apple online support. I'll be sending my diagnostics to engineering so that they can resolve this issue. I recommend doing the same thing. The more people do it, the better they can tally their fixes.

So after talking to Apple Chat Support, I am now a member of the guinea pig society of people who are having the same issue.

I don't think its iOS 10. My iPhone 6 had a rock solid gps on pokemon go with ios10

My JB iPhone 7 plus wanders around like mad, more than 50 metres in each direction.
This is a bonus in Pokemon as it counts my steps but for navigation or tracking its rubbish.
It works the same as my Daughters £35 Alcatel phone, but I expect it from a budget phone.

What I've seen from testing is when I've used run keeper it maps you location at certain points sort of dot to dot and when it goes off course it normally does that at the same time that it has low gps signal

same problem here with 2 iphone 7 plus. i tried now resetting the network settings and hope that it´ll fix it.

tried, no luck - calling apple support later
[doublepost=1475573844][/doublepost]just chatted with apple support, someone from the engineering team will call me back this evening. They encouraged to get in touch with them if you have the same issue

I think you are right. My phone just screwed up again the other day using Waze maps. It would frequently lose GPS, give me the "no GPS" message, and wouldn't track me. And this was with the NEW phone they gave me. I find it hard to believe I got another one with a hardware problem.

My guess is now that it's software...some how...

I always found android phones less accurate than iPhone but now apple is using different modems for these units and they might be on the same level now and need to be debugged

yes me too. I almost did the mistake and switched mine. Instead i decided just to buy a second one and give the other back within the 14 days. The new one has the same mistake and the hizz thing on videos so i´m going to keep my orginal one and hope that´ll be fixed with an update

I only received my iPhone 7 plus yesterday, but have been using Waze to get me through Ottawa's nightmare rush hour traffic without any issues both last night and this morning.

Good luck solving this issue.
