Olá Fabio Roberto. Sou de SP. Vc finalmente fez a mudança de capacitador? Sabe onde posso achar?

Ordered the right one now. View attachment 665609
cant wait for it to get here. A giant applause to fabioroberto for finding the kext fix:):)

Noticed that you included an image of a 220uF cap, rather than the 330uF caps that are mentioned in most discussions that I've seen. Which MacBook Pro model were you repairing?

I have a MacBook Pro 17" Early-2011. After finally finding the schematics specific to it's logic board... which I believe to be 820-2914... the schematics do show that C9560 is a 220uF cap.

Just hoping to compare notes with you, since you showed an image of a 220uF cap. Looking to sanity check best I can, before cracking this MacBook Pro open and heating up a soldering iron. Thanks!

No. MBP 2011 has not capacitor problem. The gpu failure is a different problem.
For 2010 model, c9560 capacitor is 330uF.

15" Mid 2010 MBP - capacitor replaced now the panic is worse than ever. I am trying to reinstall with Sierra from a USB stick but panics and reboots about a 3rd of the way into loading the files.

Capacitor used - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351041616498?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I'm thinking I either using the wrong capacitor or the guy that soldered it in didn't do the best job.

Is there anyone in the UK (NI even better) that has fixed their board and would fix mine for a fee?

Thanks, Matt

Should be working.
Try to reset the SMC. If not, or bad cap, or bad soldering..

I was silent reader here in the forum especially in this threat since the beginning. I experienced at least one panic a day on my MBP. I did the fix with the Kext, which worked most of the time, somehow not all over the time.
I then decided to pull the hardware fix since a lot people tried and confirmed it. Problem was I don't have a soldering iron here in china. So I brought it to a repair shop in Shanghai (Xujiahui). The guy was very appealed by all the photos and circuit drawings I had with me and told me, he'll do the job and I shall come back the other day.
When I picked it up he showed me the old cap and told me it took him 3hrs to do the job and that he can not imagine, that this will solve my issues, because the replaced cap looks god to him.

Anyway, I got it fixed last week, up to now I haven't had any panic. I can only applaud to you guys! It is already my second logic board, the other I replaced back in 2014 because of the same issues. I see now, that this was waste of money!
I am very happy now and I can only say thank you!
Contact me if you need the address of the repair shop in Shanghai.

Amigo Fabioroberto, estou com problemas.
Ja desabilitei a proteção do sistema.

Isto exclui parte do cache.

Boa sorte
Abraço

Does any one know if Do this hardware fix may or also work for A1286 MacBook Pro? model identifier macbook pro 8,2

I'm having trouble finding anyone in the Minneapolis area that can do the capacitor fix. Are there any MN based people or companies someone can recommend?

Hi, I have exact same problem and I have trying this software fix, but can't get this kext loaded. I'm on Yosemite also.

I'm using Fabioroberto's modified kext for 10.10.5.

Edit - got it to load eventually, and it works! Thank you fabioroberto and others! Will be replacing that capacitor also.

I have the exact same problem/specs that you had...but I didn't find any solution...Did you do anything else than try it over and over again?

Hi all !

I have exactly the same problem on my MacBoook Pro mid-2010, but it's 17 inches. My logic board looks a bit diferent, tantalum capacitator is not exactly the same number that I see in your photos.

in 15-inch model, I see its "N8 / dN"
and my 17-inch model, in C9560 , I see "J8 / eN". Near that, in C9510 its "N8 / dP"

I attached photos, any idea? , I should replace both ?

Thanks guys!

820-2849-A model?
This circuit is a little different. Replace both, c9510 to 330uf 2v and c9560 to 220uf 2v, too.

Thanks fabioroberto,

Yes, it's 820-2849-A model. I guess I can replace them with aluminium or ceramic ones ? I do not know if I will have enough room to put both aluminium there.

So, I need:
J8 / eN : 220uF, 2.5V , Tolerance 30%
N8 / dP: 330uF, 2V , Tolerance 0%, +100%

I only found aluminium 2V with 7.3mm long, I think it not will fit , neither performing scratching.
Can I replace that one with ceramic 2.5V ? like this: http://www.mouser.es/ProductDetail/...sSlwiRhF8qqz126ahU0Dj1rvNWkjQp62QafJZati3Sw==

and 220uF:

The preference is always for the alumium cap. But, in this case, If you dont have the necessary skill to soldering him, as using wire copper as bridge (I'll start a private conversation with you about this), you can choose use the ceramic ones that you mentioned above.

Hey Guys,

I am suffering from the kernel panics that you all have/had.

I am a music producer and anytime I open up ableton live my laptop just crashes and restarts.

I did try the kext. method but i am not sure if i had done it correctly, is there anyway to check?

I am also running the latest version of Sierra with gfxstatus (latest version) and a SMC fan control as my laptop is getting pretty hot underneath, sitting at about 50-60 degrees

Any help would be much appreciated as i know this can be fixed.

Thanks
