You're part of the 1% and you only have an iPhone 4? I'm part of the 99% and I have an iPhone 4S. What's wrong with you? :D

im just gonna pop in to my corp att store, get a new lte sim and have them swap the plan. should be no prob keeping the unlimited plan. with the 3 gb cap on being throttled though youre almost better to have a tiered plan

LoL, throttling only applies to the smartphone unlimited dataplans. No throttling on the iPad, again it's because it's a recurring billing account. They cannot legally change that like they can with smartphones.

Have the same ul plan and sure want to be able to transfer to new iPad, that's what I use the most data on. As soon as some results start becoming available, please post so we know how it worked. Thanks!!

I spoke to three AT&T reps yesterday in an attempt to get the definitive answer and they (of course) told me three different things:

1. "Just power on your The New iPad and when the ATT screen comes up use your current email address and password, it'll find your existing unlimited plan, offer you the ability to keep it or change it, select 'keep' and you're done."

2. "Keep both the old and The New iPad powered off, call us at 800-331-0500, ask for the Session Based Data Group, give us your new IMEI and ICCID numbers, we'll make the switch here for you."

3. "Go to some AT&T Move My iPad website (didn't bother to jot down the URL) and enter some information and that'll get you all set."

You'd think that with a launch of this magnitude and with so many iPad 1 owners migrating over to the The New iPad that AT&T in their infinite wisdom would have anticipated these questions this week and issued direction to their support staff.

TRANSFERRING UNLIMITED DATA PLAN (Without even turning on NEW iPad)

1. Turn off cellular data on your old iPad and POWER DOWN.

2. Goto https://dcp2.att.com/OEPNDClient/ from a Computer

3. Log into your Unlimited Plan.
-select "Edit User & Payment Information"
-select "Update Device Information"

4. Enter IMEI & ICCID of the NEW iPad.
(You can find this info on the back of your NEW iPad's box.)

5. Done

You don't have to "Swap Sims".

This is what I did last year when moving my iPad unlimited data plan to my iPad 2.

When the transfer is complete, do I have to cancel my account on my iPad 1 or is it truly "transferred".

Yes, that is correct. And that's why its so important to get grandfathered if you qualify for it.

crapola! I ordered the verizon one because I thought the 4G would make me change to a different plan. NOW What!?! I guess I have to somehow make my way to a store.

Yes, sorry. To keep your AT&T unlimited data plan in a world of high-speed 4G networks and breathtaking 1080p content you need to do the following:

1. Immediately list your Verizon preorder on Craigslist.

2. Immediately purchase an AT&T counterpart preorder off Craigslist.

3. Charge $100 more for your outgoing Verizon unit than your incoming AT&T unit.

4. Donate the $100 to a home for first-born children.

I thought about it and researched it and Verizon is the best option because everywhere I go, ATT uses, E or O, and rarely 3G. So even though I have unlimited data, it doesn't work for me...maybe in the future it'll get better, but by that time, I'll have upgraded again. I guess I'll keep my iPad with ATT & have my new iPad with Verizon.

I actually sold my iPad 1 right before Christmas for real good money in anticipation of the new iPad. When I sold it I removed my original SIM and replaced it with an ATT 3G SIM that I bought on eBay for $5. I don't know if this was necessary or not, but I have continued to pay for Unlimited Data for almost 3 months without any iPad and while that sucked, I knew it was worth the ~$90 to keep the Unlimited plan. Like someone mentioned, these plans get upwards of $500 on eBay. Now an uncapped, unthrottled, unlimited 4G plan can only be worth more. Not that I'm selling. Ever.

I thought only 1% were douche bags. Guess you proved my point

BMW M5 (F10) / 100,000 Income / iPod Touch 64GB / Ferrari / Maybach / Trump Club Member

How pathetic does that look? Lose it loser.

The Sim(psons)

ATT told me last week to swap the Sim. That being the case unless ATT is going to be generous, which they won't, we will have unlimited 3G with no 4G access. We already have a deal better then most for the price so I am content.

You could always stick the second Sim in and have a second account for 4G if you really need it for a month or two.

It looks very pathetic; no way anyone can own a Ferrari and a Maybach on a $100K income.

The new iPad has a new SIM so that won't be an option. All reports indicate we'll have unlimited 4G as well.

I talked to a Apple rep and she said "she didn't even know that there were still unlimited plans still being used, that I was a very unique customer".

Looks like it will be trial and error testing

Anyone with the UDP get their The New iPad yet and successfully migrate the plan over with AT&T?

Easy Transfer of Unlimited Data Plan to new iPad

Hey Everyone... I just transferred by Unlimited Data plan to my new iPad via the website on AT&T and it just took a few simple steps without having to swap out the SIM.

First I turned off my iPad 2 (transferred it from my original iPad).

Next logged into https://dcp2.att.com/OEPNDClient/ and used the link Edit User & Payment Info and then Update Device Information and entered the new IMEI & ICCID info from the new iPad. I was then given a couple of choices of the other data plans if I wanted to select a different one (no brainer there on which to keep). Pictures below.

I then power cycled my new iPad and logged into the account via the iPad and it was updated to Unlimited LTE domestic. I then logged in again to the AT&T iPad account page and it was updated there as well.

The whole process took me about 3 minutes.

Wanted to report back that this is exactly what I did, and I was able to successfully transfer my unlimited data plan from my iPad 1 to my new iPad without any issues!

GigaOM.com posted how to do it on their page today. Just visit www.att.com/ipadlanding to access your account info. Click on "Edit User & Payment Information: and then select "Update Device Information."

Enter the new IMEI and ICCID settings, click Next.

The also gave a phone number for AT&T, and said Verizon folks would have to call.

There's no need for anything like this. AT&T made it much easier.

Just log onto your the The New iPad via Settings > Cellular Data with the same email and userid as on your previous iPad, it'll recognize you, it'll prompt you to keep your Unlimited Plan, and that's it.

No need for any SIM card stuff or IMEI websites.
