Here's what I did and it worked perfectly.

Turned off the cellular data on my IPad 1
Went to settings, cellular data on my new IPad
Clicked on Cellular Account Data
Entered my user ID and PW from my AT&T account
Checked to see that the "DON Unlimited MB for 30 days - LTE domestic" was checked.
Clicked next (scroll down to see the button)
Waited 30 seconds and received a message that my account was active.

I then logged out and then logged back in to ensure that the phone number transferred and it did.

No issues, whatsoever, it works fine.

There's no need for anything like this. AT&T made it much easier.

Just log onto your the The New iPad via Settings > Cellular Data with the same email and userid as on your previous iPad, it'll recognize you, it'll prompt you to keep your Unlimited Plan, and that's it.

No need for any SIM card stuff or IMEI websites.

BJ

I don't have an e-mail and userID on my iPad 2, so there is a need for the web site.

+1

That's it right there, very simple, all done on the device itself.

is it possible both ways work? i know, you're skeptical (as am I)... but it's possible both the website route and the pure login route are equally successful

No problem switching my data plan to the new iPad just by logging in. My old iPad was sitting right next to me still powered on when I did it. Took about two minutes.

Same here.. Just login on the iPad 3.... It's easier, and you won't make any mistakes with the EIN numbers....

I also had no problems with just logging in on my new iPad. The unlimited plan was already checked and I just had to confirm it. This seems to be the easiest way to transfer the unlimited plan. :D
