Orange is nice, but I get orange when ever I inverse the screen.
I've been wondering; is that a designer implemented feature?

I mean, it'd be good for designs when you're trying to figure pixel perfection, kinda easier to tell from inverse.
OPT+CMD+8
then OPT+CMD+= is awesome
OPT+CMD+- = zoom out

The inversion feature might be good for designers, but I think it's actually implemented for the visually impaired. The inversion makes it easier for some people to use a computer screen. :)

Dang, I like the zoom feature too, that's awesome.

Thanks to this thread I am now on Graphite and I'm digging it!
I had tried it before but never really got into it... now I've just realised it fits very well with my new black desktop and icon set... gotta love it! :D

Graphite all the way baby!:D

This made me chuckle, given your user name :)

I have been trying out Graphite thanks to this thread, and whilst I really like the cleanness of it, I am finding it a little difficult to distinguish between active and inactive windows. It must be ingrained in me: greyed out = inactive.

Back to blue for me.

Within Application Consistency?

Whelp - I've been using Blue since this began yesterday (except for a brief period where I had to take screenshots for a manual - I'll admit to being ashamed to let Windows users see the stoplights - the Mac is not a toy).

I'm actually surprised to see all the places where the colors come out - especially in older-looking programs like FileMaker - which leads me to wonder - if more themes were added, wouldn't programmers have to add widget sets for every one of them (assuming Apple would require every Mac-compatible-branded program to match the user's theme choice)? Could that be a reason for the limited options? I mean, they don't have to do that for Windows - where they get a bigger market share.

Just a thought.

Active Windows

Hehe - good catch.

It's funny how the human mind works. I find that I'm having trouble with inactive verses active *because* of blue. All the aqua on the inactive windows drowns out the more subtle signs that I'm used to looking for (window title grayed, intense window shadow).

Interesting.

i personally am not a fan of the blue nor the graphite...

i see there are programs such as "thempark" or "shapeshifter" out there - i may have to check into them....do they work for the intels and stuff?

i'd like to see a black with white apple - but that's just me hah

Blue for me, I like the idea of Graphite (tend to run a "Milk" theme on Windows which is similarly clean) however from my quick trial I prefer blue as it was easier to quickly distinguish which window was in the foreground and which control had focus etc, I guess I feel blue is more usable.

Usually the application developer will just code "draw a checkbox here" it's then up to the operating system itself to decide what a checkbox looks like (oversimplification i know).

Graphite. The first thing I do on a new Mac is switch to graphite. All those bright colors make it feel too childish.

It would be good if OSX had a few more themes to choose from, they could still be consistent with the GUI...e.g. DARK blue...or light graphite or something...just to give us a few more options to choose from. Maybe a BLACK?

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I think it's an effort by Apple to graphically unify the OS with the hardware, and as most of the hardware is the same glossy white or brushed metal as the GUI, that's why they chose to have only those themes. Whereas on Windows, you're delivering to all sorts of different hardware, so an attempt to unify the OS with the hardware would be futile, so they can give more themes.

Remember in OS 8 and 9 we had tons of colors to choose from. I used Sapphire the most (which is almost identical to OS X blue) so I usually use blue. I also enjoyed the old Poppy theme.

I prefer graphite, but I've kept my new MacBook at blue the few days I've had it so far, just to see if I liked it.

Going to change to graphite soon, I think... ;)
