In a word...NoIs there any way of buffing out these scratches on a DLC coated watch?
No it’s mattNot sure, but do you now have a nice shiny silver (stainless steel) finish on these corners?
He was making a joke.Diamond-Like Coating.
Never got a scratch on my aluminum watches either. You were just not careful with your aluminum watch.
I have never gotten a scratch on my aluminum AW during the last 3+ years.
But my manual watch which is SS shows hairline scratches even though i hardly ever wear it.
Is there any way of buffing out these scratches on a DLC coated watch?
Well, technically yes, if you Rub hard enough with a polishing cloth, you can remove the scratch, but you will tarnish the coating, which may cause a discoloration on the casing. It probably depends on what compound mixture you’re using and how deep the scratches are. [I believe there was one member that attempted this last year and successfully removed the scratch, but I don’t recall if that was on the space black stainless or space black titanium.]
I am amazed at the reactions so far. It’s a watch. It will scratch, sometime and in some way under normal use. If someone purchased a traditional SS watch, it will scratch relatively easily with normal use. Why are we holding Apple watches to a different standard.
I think the Apple Watch pulls in a lot of people who’ve never spent more than $100, let alone $500+, on a watch. so they complain about things that you’d never hear from a more sophisticated watch group.
I think you mean to say, ‘only on sites like this do people complain’. General consumers don’t care if they scratch their smart watch, why would they? It’s just a smart watch. It’s meant to take abuse, let alone anyone and everyone Understands smart watches devalue and are limited just like iPhones are with OS.
Lol - I have watches costing a lot more than what I spent on my SS S6! The difference is, they go up in value where as this (and most other tech) goes the opposite way, even more so when it's no longer in pristine condition! So yes I like to take care of my tech/gadgets, why? Well A. they tend to pull a little more money back when it comes to resale and B. its easier to sell a smartwatch or phone that is in better condition than one thats taking a beating!I think the Apple Watch pulls in a lot of people who’ve never spent more than $100, let alone $500+, on a watch. so they complain about things that you’d never hear from a more sophisticated watch group.

They may have used to in the past, but I’m not so sure that trend will continue in the future ...Lol - I have watches costing a lot more than what I spent on my SS S6! The difference is, they go up in value
I have watches that are tenfold what my Apple Watch was, and my answer is no. My other watches are plain SS, so I expect them to get scratched. If they were DLC coated I be disappointed as well. This has nothing to do with value going up or down. The question is this. Do you complain about your other watches when they get scratched? Would you expect the vendor to exchange for a new watch after a scratch?
At what point have I stated that I want to exchange the Apple Watch? My other watches are a mixture of stainless steel without any type of coating so of course they will scratch, however it’s nothing a good old polish can’t sort out when they go in for a service! One of my watch happens to be a Rado made out ceramics which looks as good as new despite being close to 10 years after old. My issue with the SS Apple Watch with dlc coating is it’s meant to be very durable but clearly mine has been scratched. This has nothing to do with value going up or down. The question is this. I'd suggest you keep your opinions to yourself, but that's probably not going to happen any sooner than other people not complaining about scratches...Ah, at least you guys admits that regular watches get scratched. And everyone knows that ceramics are super resilient to scratches, even Apple’s.
The core issue here is you guys are whining because the DLC was’t as strong as you would’ve liked. Congrats on being the guinea pigs. You found out that a microscopic layer of coating isn’t the equivalent of an otter box for your watch. Wow, you had to be real gullible to fall for that one.
I’d suggest you stick to buying uncoated metal or ceramics like everyone else in the real watch world does.
