I can't believe I only recently discovered Patrick Watson. His music is superb and the latest album "Wooden Arms" [spotify] is simply otherworldly in its beauty from beginning to end. I think you either won't know what to do with this kind of music at all, or you'll be in love with the whole album:

32VY

These 2 I also currently adore not for specific tracks but in their entirety:

32W0
32W2

Blonde Redhead - Misery is a butterfly [spotify]
Blonde Redhead - 23 [spotify]

Porcupine Tree : In Absentia
Pink Floyd : The dark side of the moon
ACDC : Back in black
Led Zeppelin : Led Zeppelin IV
Iron Maiden : Fear of the dark, the number of the beast
Dream Theater : Images and Words

basically all the albums from these bands

no I'm not old :D

One or two more come to mind which are very good all the way through.

Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells (have recently listened to it straight through for the first time in, oh, decades; it's still great).

Agree with those who posted Pink Floyd DSOTM, and the Division Bell is excellent, too.

A strange, but weirdly compelling outfit called Beirut made two astonishing albums worth listening to from start to finish, namely, The Flying Club Cup and Gulag Orkestar.

Cheers

Music

Been seeing alot of good albums on here, these lists made me dig into my itunes and pull up some stuff that has been collecting dust! :)

My contributions:

Separation Sunday - The Hold Steady
(If you like rock, try these guys out, they are what modern rock is missing IMO)

Howl Howl Gaff Gaff - The Shout Out Louds
(Every song is stellar, I cannot get enough of this band)

There are countless older ones that are awesome from start to finish.

I just picked up Survival Story by Flobots and loved the entire album.

The Hawk is Howling
or Rock Action by Mogwai. I've got plenty, but these are the latest ones I've found.

Porcupine Tree : In Absentia
Pink Floyd : The dark side of the moon
ACDC : Back in black
Led Zeppelin : Led Zeppelin IV
Iron Maiden : Fear of the dark, the number of the beast
Dream Theater : Images and Words

basically all the albums from these bands

no I'm not old :D

Nice to see Porcupine Tree on your list.

I'll third Depeche Mode's Violator.

Others:
Howard Jones - Human's Lib
Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine
Skinny Puppy - ViViSect VI
Fun Fun - Have Fun!
Grace Jones - Slave To The Rhythm
Yazoo - Upstairs At Eric's
Twenty 4 Seven - Slave To The Music

A couple of obscure synthpop masterpieces:
Cosmicity - Pure
Provision - Visualize

And two "close but no banana"s:
The Human League - Dare! (I always skip "I Am The Law"; otherwise, an electronic pop classic)
BT - IMA (Except for including both mixes of "Loving You More" back to back-- one was more than enough-- this is perhaps the defining moment of progressive house)

Another album that comes to mind is Radar by Earthling. There are no real standout tracks on it, but the album as a whole is pretty amazing.

Another Side of Bob Dylan
Highway 61 Revisited

Yes! I love how you excluded Hail to the Thief and Pablo Honey.

Dig several of the other albums you listed as well, great tastes:cool:
I have to disagree with you. There is no great taste, just like there is no bad taste. Taste is personal and is exactly that: taste. Sure, you can agree or disagree with someone's taste, but that doesn't make it either good or bad.

But yeah, I do indeed have pretty awesome taste! :D

Red Hot Chili Peppers - BloodSugarSexMagik (their last decent album, not a bad song on it)
Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists & The Holy Bible (RIP Richey)
Depeche Mode - Songs Of Faith and Devotion & Violator
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Nine Inch Nails - Broken EP (not technically an album), The Downward Spiral oh and Pretty Hate Machine
Placebo - Placebo & Black Market Music
Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X

Jeeesus, I could go on all night there are sooo many:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I feel I have to rephrase my statement from yesterday. I've been thinking about that post today and found out I actually don't quite agree with what I wrote earlier. I now believe that there aren't such things as good taste and bad taste. It's more that people either have developed or undeveloped taste. The people that like music or artists that are generally being regarded as bad or mediocre, simply don't know that there are better things out there.

Rancid - Life Won't Wait
Clash - Sandinista!
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Elvis Costello - Get Happy!!
The Breeders - Last Splash

I am surprised that no one has mentioned...

Alice in Chains - Dirt

That is one of the very few albums that I can listen to straight through over and over again.
