Apple Replaced my phone.. but..

Just tested mine out. Same issue. Big blueish green spot. Sigh

OK, I just got back from the apple store. They restored it and still saw the spot, so they replaced it with a new phone. Drum roll please......
ITS STILL THERE.
It's not as bad as it was, but I can still see a little bit of blue. The apple guy said he didn't see it, but I think he just did want to trouble shoot anymore. The replacement phone had the same build date (25) as my previous phone. So it looks like this will become a major issue.

so we have

bad singal
bad cameras
bad screens

......... i might cancel my order and buy iphone 5

So the really funny part was, the guy infront of me had signal issues and got a new phone. I saw two other people getting new phones. I got a new phone. However when I asked the apple genius guy "so I bet you've see a lot of these lately", his comment was that there were less problems with the iphone4 at launch than any of the other iphones at launch. In my mind I was thinking "BS".

Yes - it has the reception issue as well. But I have a case and don't plan on going "naked"

I was debating returning the phone and waiting until whatever "fix" was revealed or if it was determined only some phones had the reception issue. But I do believe I will be unaffected by the issue with the case I have and/or a fix will come from apple. If not - we're all in the same boat - so no need to return, right? lol

This way - I know I at least have a working camera.

Can you see the camera non-issue (j/k) by looking at the pic on the iPhone or is it after it gets copied to the computer.

ditto

So right now CFL lit photos or dark photos with no flash = odd coloring

What does the Canadian Football League have to do with anything. ;)

I had to go search for that (compact fluorescent lightbulb, in case anyone else doesn’t know). So, you’re saying you get the green/blue whether you use flash or not, correct?

NOt true, I was able to produce the exact same green tint with Flash.

I mean, it's not like Apple is using special camera lenses. No other camera/phone produce the green tint result under the same setting.

With fluorescent lighting - I get a green haze and sorta yellow imaging overall. Both on screen and in the photo

With low light levels - I get a light red tint.

With the flash - the red issue goes away in low light.

I don't think I've checked yet forcing the flash to fire off when a space already has light from a CFL...

everyone just look at the camera on the back of the iphone. You will see a green coat if you look at it in the light.

Hope that explains something.

Also, try it on the FRONT and BACK camera.

I see the green spot on both sides. But they are 2 different lenses. That makes me think its a software issue.

Are you new to photography? Most (at least smaller) lenses has a coating which reflect a color - usually blue/green

What you're seeing when you look at the physical lens isn't an indication of anything.

I'm having the same green tint as well. Do we really have a definitive answer as to if this is software vs hardware?

I mean, can everyone replicate this under CFL?

Same thing here. This has to be happening on all iPhones. I have a slight green tint in the middle of the screen when viewing the cam under fluorescent lighting. It's not nearly as bad as the examples some have posted on here, but it's there. Luckily, I'm not really ever in an environment where there is fluorescent lighting, so it's not that big of a deal to me.

I just looked at all the photos I have taken, I imported them to a computer for close examination. It only happens at my work with flourescent lighting and only looks like its visible when you have a white background. only because...its easy to spot then.

that coating is on the lens. Look carefully. it's on the glass. If you look past that...you will see the actually coating thats on a lens. there are 2 coats (i could be looking at the refraction of the glass causing a prism).

And no....I've been in photography for years.

D40
D90 with multiple lens.

yes and its present (barely) on the front camera. hopefully a software issue but not certain since only part of the pic is off color.

on a sidenote I turned on the camera one day, in bright light, in video mode and it was entirely a blue/purple .... the whole screen.

closed the camera and turned it on again and it was fine.

so, again, hopefully a software fix

Just noticed that I am having the same issue. This did not happen at home but at work with fluorescent lighting it is showing up. Strange.

I have this problem also but the green discoloration is only at the bottom of the photo. Anyone else having this problem? Getting "upload failed" message for some reason so I'm not able to upload pics at the moment.

I first called applecare and they said the green circle was definitely not normal. So I went and made a genius bar appointment and got my iphone 4 replaced. My green circle was pretty green and very noticeable. Even the genius bar guy said that wasn't supposed to be like that.

I'm guessing all iphones will have that slight green tint, but to the extent what shows up may be a different story. I wouldn't jump at trying to get a replacement cause even my new one has a slight green tint, but no where as noticeable as my old iphone.

We'll have to wait and see how this unravels.

Just tested mine and it appears to do the same thing. I can see a slight green haze on the right side of the image in both pictures and video. Oddly enough, it's on the right side of the image in portrait and landscape, so hopefully it IS a software issue and can be remedied.

I did some testing, and instead of green spots in the centre of the pictures, I found a slight green haze at the bottom of my pictures (in portrait mode). Interestingly, when I take pictures in landscape mode (turning it 90degrees left, home button on right side), the green haze is now on the right! This seems like there's something wrong with my lens. Furthermore, there is no visible green haze with my front camera.

Plant 84, Week 23 iPhone 4.

As a previous poster suggested, I think I'll wait a week or a bit more to replace my phone. Hopefully by then it'll be sorted out.

I have this issue too. I picked up the phone at AT&T today. Would i have to go back to AT&T for an exchange or could I also go to an apple store?
