I have had a 15" 2012 MBP on my mStand for over a year now. The stand is very strong. It's not going to snap under the weight of a MBP 15".

No chance. I've had an mstand since they came out. It's the only accessory to travers 3 laptop generations. It's a single sheet of aluminum like half an inch thick, you could safety store the weight of several MBPs without worry.

The only risk I can see is if the laptop spun or rotated off, but the bumpers are rather grippy.

Thank you both. I think I'll get one from amazon. You know, my friend asked me: "have you ever noticed that very Apple purchase leads to other Purchases". Finally! Someone understands the Apple culture!

I would also consider the Bookarc by Twelve south
. Just ordered one of these to go with my Thunderbolt display desktop. :)

Here's an example from the web:

The bookarc is nice when you want to save space AND look good doing it. It limits you to clamshell mode while the mStand style devices will let you use your laptop screen as primary display or secondary... Thanks for reminding me that I need to put my bookarc up on the Marketplace!
