Griffin Reveal Etch Review with pics (iphone 4 free case program)

Got my Reveal Etch. The rubber really is a little too stretchy, so my phone looks like it melted a little because the lines aren't straight where the rubber goes around the front bezel.
Oh well... my hunt for the perfect case for MY uses continues.
I had been using a Gear4 tire-track rubber case up till this point. The one plus the Griffin has over the Gear4 is that the buttons are MUCH easier to press. So I give it credit for that...
But... I'm sticking to the Gear4 for now. I just can't stand how "wobbly" and crooked the Reveal Etch makes the front of the iPhone look. Just... ghastly! Griffin really does make the crappiest cases. I knew I should have picked something else...

Well have u tried this case or the original reveal? And it 100% does fit snug! And I've slide the case with phone in and it of all my pockets NO problem , maybe your pockets are sticky? And a friend of mine got that incipio case, neither of us, and the salesman didn't like it , he promptly returned it lol also the sides on mine are very sturdy and solid and don't feel or look weak at all

do your work for griffen or something? the case sucks and i would rate my 3 dollar ebay case better than this. It does not fit snug around the top and bottom, it's very flimsy. Sides are much more snug compared to top and bottom but still not enough. f this case and f griffen.
While your tone is ridiculous, I agree. The Reveal Etch case is really useless. I just bought the Speck Pixelskin HD. Hopefully when that shows up it fares better.
I just got my free reveal etch in the mail today I like it it looks nice and fits well. Great for a free case from apple.

I'm sorry, if someone offers me something and it happens to be free, I expect the same as if I'd paid for it. Especially since the case DOES cost money!
My point exactly, it's a free case for us but they do charge for this crappy case. I don't see how you guys say this case fits snug, It doesn't. The rubber does not fit snug and is flimsy as everyone else has stated. Stop lying to yourself and others.

So out of all the cases that were made you just happened to get the perfect one. I don't buy it. Yes this was made for people who like this case but you ave to be objective about this case. While I do like that it doesn't add much bulk, there is no denying that the rubber around the case sucks. Because they tried to make the case as thin as possible while still covering the edges of the screen they made the rubber to soft and to thin.
That review is dead on. I noticed the alignment mismatching, especially on the speakers/camera etc. It really is a crappy case. When my Pixelskin HD comes in, I'll be sure to post some thoughts on it.

the speaker and microphone holes are actually a little bit bigger than the parts themselves making the case look misaligned but in fact the parts are not cover AT ALL. at least this is my situation.
I would recommend readers to at least try it because a thread like this that's 50/50 makes me wonder if the build quality of all the reveal etches are the same. if not, that would be griffin's fault.
and to the haters, try to exchange it for another one somehow and give it another shot.

LMAO at this thread. Everybody here just needs to chill out. As for the haters, you have every right to your opinions, but do it a lil more tastefully because you guys are coming off a little too harsh.
As for the case itself, it does have its ups and downs. I have the reveal original (revised with new bigger camera cutout) and I do like the case. Is it perfect? No. Is it horrendous? No. The rubber can be a little flimsy for some people, but to say that it would tear easily? I think you would have to do some major tearing/stretching to try to rip it apart. Believe me, I tried it with my old reveal. Dust can get underneath and sneak in through the rubber sides or the camera cut out, but not much. It doesn't lift my PS Anti Glare HD screen protector. I can actually put custom image on the back of my phone (original only) AND have a Wrapsol Original matte backing. The rubber isn't perfectly aligned on mine, but I'm not one to complain (and i'm very superficial when it comes to my iphone looking perfect). LOL. So thats my opinion. Its not the best case out there, but it definitely isn't the worst. It's certainly better than the bumper. Bumper didn't seem to give me that "safe if I drop it" feeling.

Do you have any side/back protectors on? I ask because the Reveal Etch that I received did not fit very well on the sides. I could feel the gap between the rubber and the aluminum band everytime I grabbed the phone. I really want to like this case (love the look and feel), but the fitment bugs me too much. I even emaild Griffin about the issue and they replied that it was designed that way because the hard backing would make installation difficult without soft sides. Still wish they would have gone with a firmer material like that used in the Speck Pixelskin HD and Incipio NGP.
I am much happier with the Incipio Silicrylic's fit, but I have a gripe with that case too. The silicone material is too close to the Home button and gets annoying fast. Also, the exposed silicone on the top attracts a bit of lint (I put the phone upside-down in my pocket). I am eager to see how the duroSHOT DRX turns out. Hopefully it's not any thicker than the Silicrylic.

The wife got hers yesterday from the free case program. Tehcnically, the case program was to provide options that eliminated the antenna problem. For that purpose, it works fine.
I, however, worry about it as far as protection. It doesn't seem to be a snug fit and the softness of the silicone around the front edges worries me. I think the soft points (front edges, especially the front/bottom) wouldn't protect much during a drop. It's flimsy.
I think the sides are good for grip though. Appreciate that much more over a complete hard plastic.
No issues with the PowerSupport Crystal film on the front with it coming up. However, sometimes it doesn't even seem like the case is wrapping around the front side of the phone to have the chance to interfere with the screen protector (if that makes sense).

Well I don't know why people are complaining. The rubber doesn't bend alot and isnt flimsy at all. I've already dropped it and nothing happend. if you don't like it, return it, I don't see why you have to come here to whine and complain. the big bonus here is that it's free. people are so ungreatful . You get a free case and start whining. You should and gotten a different case. I had to choose between this and the pixel hd. The pixel hd felt kinda crappy and didn't look very nice. The 2 part incipio case sucked as well the rubber was flimsy. If you want to see flimsy rubber go look at that incipio! 6 of my frLiends chose the etch and loves it and 2 got the pixel hd and wished they could switch the the etch because of how cheap the pixel hd looks and feels. So I guess I did get the "perfect" etch, lucky me huh. And kudos to the guy who put the gelaskin on the etch
I don't think it is so much bitching as warning potential customers (free or paid) to consider the negatives of the product. When I chose the case for the promotion, I believed it was the best choice, but once I got it in my hands, it disappointed. Just because it's free to you and me (for now) does not mean that you can't look at it objectively. Not sure if the promotion extends throughout the world, but other people might find the info useful.
