Griffin Reveal Etch Review with pics (iphone 4 free case program)

Well I don't know why people are complaining. The rubber doesn't bend alot and isnt flimsy at all. I've already dropped it and nothing happend. if you don't like it, return it, I don't see why you have to come here to whine and complain. the big bonus here is that it's free. people are so ungreatful . You get a free case and start whining. You should and gotten a different case. I had to choose between this and the pixel hd. The pixel hd felt kinda crappy and didn't look very nice. The 2 part incipio case sucked as well the rubber was flimsy. If you want to see flimsy rubber go look at that incipio! 6 of my frLiends chose the etch and loves it and 2 got the pixel hd and wished they could switch the the etch because of how cheap the pixel hd looks and feels. So I guess I did get the "perfect" etch, lucky me huh. And kudos to the guy who put the gelaskin on the etch

Want a backup etch? i wouldn't mind selling, seeing as i won't use it and you love it so much. You'll be doing me a favor.

i respectfully disagree...i want to see why people dont like it...its a review thread. Obviously theres going to be 2 sides to the coin here. It wouldnt be a "review" thread if there were not some people who had some good/bad things to say about it.

He went about it the right way, he didnt slam the case...just pointed out that its not what he wanted and decided it wasnt for him.

Maybe some are flimsy, I don't know about everyones but I do know mine isn't and many people here have said it's not flimsy so maybe , just like the iPhone 4 , your holding it wrong. When it is on the phone mine is sturdy and snug. No flimsy here! And why would I buy a case I already have? would you like to buy my invisible case? It's 100% see through! and not flimsy at all! and the best part is , you would only pay for shipping

People have seen the video. But there are also videos praising the case and liking it a lot. For those that say it feels flimsy, contact griffin. Besides I think there would be a revised one due to camera cut out since there was a revised one for the original reveal. My revised one feels a lot more sturdier and hugs the phone tighter than my first reveal.

Clearly some people are having problems and some people aren't. It is surely possible for some people to like the case, and others not to. It is also surely possible that some people have better examples than others - may be the QC or manufacturing isn't particularly consistent.

As a bit of background, I had a SwitchEasy Rebel Hybrid case for my 3G before, and while it was a good case, the clear nature meant that dust got in and was clearly visible.

I have a Reveal Etch that I got on eBay for £10 after reading lots of reviews of the free cases (I chose the PixelSkin HD from the free programme and decided to get this one for the interim). The Reveal Etch that I have fits my iPhone 4 pretty much perfectly and I like it a lot. I've had it on for almost two weeks now and I will say that I am starting to feel just a little flex in the sides when I squeeze it, but the front edges of the sides are still pretty much straight and it looks tidy enough to me. I think the material quality is good enough for my purposes, certainly at least until the PixelSkin arrives for me to compare.

Now I may have gotten lucky and received a good one, or perhaps the ones sent out in the free program are QC failures or something. If your Reveal Etch doesn't fit well, I believe you. Hopefully no one will think I am lying when I say I'm happy with mine (I have no incentive to lie about this), but I like that it isn't overly obvious that I am holding the latest iPhone 4 and the Apple logo isn't visible, as I have at least one friend who has had his snatched in the street. It's a little more stealth that way.

Great review and pics! I'm still waiting for my Pixelskin, however the griffin was my second choice. Only chose the pixelskin as I had a Speck case for my 3GS and loved it. I did have a griffin (not reveal) on my 2G, and that was also very good. Thanks!

Didnt want to make a new thread about the case since there were a few already. So i figured i would just add my opinion on it. I finally got my etch in the mail today....wasnt too bad of a wait..just over a month.

Its not a bad case, its not a great case . I love the back and i love the protection...but the silicon is alittle flimsy (edited below, hit it with some heat and it tighten up the case alot..hardly flimsy anymore)...i dont see the bottom lip part lasting very long.

It does look nice though...noticing that i got a new version i think, the hole for the flash and the lens is bigger now..I guess that was to fix the flash problem.

Buttons are easy to push and allows the button to click back (feedback)...no problems what so ever with any buttons.

I wish the sides were like the official bumper with the same back. However, im going to use the etch over the bumper. Just for the protection in the back. I can see it taking a small drop...but anything over waist high, i dont see it doing much protection. Also it DOES NOT interfere with my SGP Ole screen protector. In case anyone wanted to know.

I just wanted to add that i did find it alittle loose when i first put it in. Thinking about people boiling their bumpers, i decided to hit it with some heat to see if it will shrink a tad. I was afraid to use boiling hot water since it will prob melt the back. I used a industrial hair dryer (im asian, i have really really thick hair). I dont know exactly how hot it gets, but its hot enough to burn your skin in under a second if your close enough. After about 2-3 mins of heating it up, then quickly cooling it down with water, im happy to report that it has tighten up a bit and fits alot more snug. Especially on the bottom, that tiny lip was sagging when i first put it in...its right up against the lip of the phone now.

I also chose the Reveal Etch as my free case and received it about 2 weeks ago; tried it and it was immediately apparent to me that the case was loose and did not fit around my iPhone 4 well at all. As others mentioned, it was loose and wobbly, and the edges wouldn't even rest flush on the iPhone. Absolutely awful. I am glad I didn't pay for this because it is the worst fitting case I have ever had, which is very disappointing because I really liked the design/pattern on the back - classy but fun. Sounds like there may have been a bad batch but I would have to say stay away from this one.

I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and just got an email saying that it has shipped thru DHL, I'm hoping it gets here soon.

I'm really interested in trying out your hair dryer trick. Thanks for posting that info. Looking forward to any pics as well.

However I probably going to make mine abet larger. I have no complaints with this being my free case from Apple. I like it better then the Bumpers personally. here are a few pics of mine as well.

those bastards! mine has a keyhole camera cutout, that's clearly a revised version. Going to call griffen tomorrow.

Just a bump to say I bought this case myself after seeing numerous reviews on the internet (I chose the perf silicone case from Griffin as my free one which I don’t like so wanted a decent one) and the case is fantastic. The fit is really tight and like mentioned the back has a slight lip to raise the camera from a flat surface. Easily the best case I have seen for the 4 and have told all my friends with the phone to get this case and even purchase it if they don’t have it.
