sharpie trick is not working for me for some reason :confused:
are you suppose to go beyond the edge to the flat surfaces too?

I did a little bit but I don't it think matters.

Your just trying to prevent the flash from reflecting off the case and flaring into the lens. But it won't make the camera look any better than what it looks like with out the case.

I did not go beyond the edge sides. I am by no means a photographer but hope these help.

ya for some reason flash is still reflecting off of the case, or maybe its because the sharpie part still looks super shinny?

Shiny is bad. Light bounces off of a shiny surface. Maybe find a different black marker that leaves less of a sheen.

Biomass that looks really bad. Sure you don't have something over the lens like a screen protector?

You do realize that close up pics like that don't have that issue in the first place. Only wider shots.

I did not realize this so I did the test again. I took two images in a dark room (turned off the lights) and shot the image, one is with the cover and the other is without the cover. You can noticed a bit of fuzz on the image with the cover but compared to not using the sharpie in my opinion it's much better. I am actually just waiting for the OtterBox to become available to go with that so for now this will do.

:mad::mad:
why can't i just get stuff to work....
1st the signal issue
than i got a case to fix the issue, now this is happening

Speck Candyshell may have similar problem

It is a two layer construction. Mine has a black shell with a grey soft rubbery insert. I took my first flash picture and was disappointed as it look a little fuzzy and washed out compared to the same picture without the flash. I'll try the Sharpie trick when I get home and report. I'm thinking even the grey rubber insert might have some reflective properties, jut not as bad as the clear cases.

Dammit! Mine has the same flash issue! I can, however, confirm that the Belkin Vue I also picked up to try does NOT have the flash issue. Guess that decides which one I'm taking back!

my belkin vue screwed my flash up...but with a box cutter and steady hands i now have a clear bumper :D

I emailed Griffin about the issue. Got this in return:

Hello,

I have heard of those problems and it does seem to be a design issue. At this time I don't really have another case to swap that out for, but we are working to correct the problem. If this is a deal breaker type issue I would suggest returning it for a refund, or I can setup for a replacement once we have the revised units. It will be a while before we have those however, typically takes a month or two to get to us. Let me know what you decide and sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,

So people with cases that glare the flash are you going to...

A. Return it immediately (I want my money back)
B. Wait it out (Best buy gives me 30 days)
C. Get a sharpie and fix this issue myself
