Looking at the desktop version in the app store, there's lots of complaints from people from April & May 2015 of the sync between devices being broken.

That's kinda key - can't have the grocery list not being complete when you get to the store.

Iv'e never had "Clear" fail between phone and watch

I like Buy Me A Pie! Don't have a watch yet but the iPhone version is great. Reviews for it are great. Worth looking at.

We have liked using a shared list app in our family; it's nice that everyone has a current copy of "the list" on their phone if they happen to make a last minute stop at the store.

I've been testing Bring! and Buy Me a Pie for Watch usability (much to my wife's annoyance, who'd just as soon pick one and be done with it).

Both are good apps, but for me so far Bring! has been a slightly better experience because the icons are large and easy to read and manage on the watch, compared to the fairly small list items on BMAP. The iPhone app is also very polished and easy to use, but on either platform you'll like it only if you like their icon based list system.

For a long list, the watch isn't ideal IMO. Better for twelve items or less kind of shopping trips.

In the UK, There is the M&S cooking app which has an apple watch shopping list. It can automatically be populated by picking a meal you want to cook form the within the app. It then also sets up cooking timers on the watch as well. How awesome is that!

Buy Me A Pie is amazing and me and my wife both use it on ours phones and watches. We can sync the list between our phones use the watch to check off what you purchased.

My wife and I use the Apple Reminders App for shared todo lists... including Groceries.

Reminders Nano is an ABSOLUTE MUST for anyone that does something similar. It works perfectly to allow you to interact with Apple/iCloud Reminders on the Watch.

Just downloaded and have been trying Buy Me A Pie as suggesting here. I love Bring! on the iPhone, but have found for longer list BMAP is best on the Watch. Anyway they are both worthy of a try.

I just installed an app called Bring!
I've not used it in anger yet but it looks good from a quick play.
I love the Bring! app. Sharing lists with my wife is great, so we can both see the list and check off items right from the watch. It also adds and removes nearly instantly, so if I add something while she's at the other end of the store she'd see it right away.

I don't mind the icons so much. It's a nice visual cue even though sometimes unnecessary.

After getting the watch to do everything I wanted it to do the last thing was grocery lists, (apple left out, cough). I wrapped it up with Wunderlist also. The reason I went with them was 2 reasons Free and a Mac Version. So on the Mac I can transfer my grocery list from reminders, which works great with Siri. The only thing missing is that you can't select all and copy from reminders and then paste directly into Wunderlist, you have to do item by item, a little bummer. I would like to get Things App for Mac but WHOLY MOLY $50! for the Mac Version? WOW

The better answer would have been "Apple doesn't have the reminders app on the watch yet".
Umm, my post is in the Watch sub forum, and if you read I actually acknowledge I am using the stock iOS/Mac/iCloud Reminders app. And the app I called out, OneList, only works with the iOS/Mac/iCloud Reminders app. So, sorry you missed the context completely, got called out, and feel the need to rationalize your mistake by implying my response wasn't clear :)

+1 for Bring. I like the possibility to share the list with my entire family. Each of us can add things and you can warn (by sending a notification) when you go shopping, so everybody can put what they need. Big icon so easy to select and unselect. Multiple list available...

i use clear.

i used to attempt to use reminders.... but it was always a pain to pull out my phone... then if i needed two hands for something i'd have to put it back in my purse if i didn't have pockets in my clothes that day.... so i pretty much went back to paper.

since getting my watch and trying clear... no more paper! now granted, it's only been a month.... but that's longer than using the phone worked!

i also love that if i'm in the middle of something and think of something that needs to go on a shopping list... i can add it! not like the paper version where i had to either stop what i was doing and go to the kitchen where the list was kept... or try to remember to add it at a later time (ya... like that ever worked! lol)

i haven't purchased the desktop version of clear because of the sync reviews... and i do occasionally have to go into the app and re-check icloud (i have no idea why it unchecks????)

And Fantastical just released a Watch app that has iOS Reminders integration.

I know this won't help the OP. But for those looking for simple and free (or minimal cost) solution for Grocery (or other ToDo) lists on Watch:

My wife and I just use a couple Reminders lists (just iCloud/basic reminders) and share them between us. We've done this on the iPhone for years.

Since Apple doesn't have a stock Reminders app (shocking omission), we found the app OneList, which has a Watch app to view and check off items on a Reminders list on the Watch. For free, you get to view one list on the Watch. Via and IAP, you can unlock to view all your Reminders lists on the Watch.

Thank for the app suggestion, this is just what I was looking for.

This is my recommendation. I went shopping today and used this exact combination and it worked great. Reminders Nano can now be included in Glances and can either show your default list or scheduled Reminders for the day. So, if you make your shopping list your default, you can get to it straight from Glances or tap on the Glance and go into the app.

Another vote for Reminders Nano. It mirrors everything on the iphone Reminders app onto the watch-different colored lists. The shopping list ticks off items perfectly.

One more trick for using Reminders Nano (or any other list App):

Before heading into the grocery store... on your watch go into Settings->General->Activate on Wrist Raise. And set "Resume to" to "Last Used App"

This will mean that once you launch an App your Watch will continue to run that App until you close it. That will allow you to always be able to just raise your wrist to look at the next thing on your list.

When you're done shopping you can go turn it back.
