well that sucks. I was really looking forward to cross-platform compatibility and thought (still do) that would be a game changer and finally another big step forward for the apple eco-system.

WWDC as a whole isn't for the consumer, but the keynote very much is. Why else would Apple broadcast it live, contrary to for example their recent edu focused event.

Granted there are bits in there that may interest the consumer BUT it's mainly for developers, people getting upset because Apple didn't announce something or do something based off of a 3rd party rumour or leak is just silly in my opinion. There was a rumour earlier this year that Apple were going to announce a new 13" MacBook or MacBook Air with retina at WWDC, something that i was very much looking forward to as i'm due an upgrade from my 2011 MacBook Pro, BUT i'm not upset with Apple because it's based on rumour and nothing they have promised.

The only reason I want this feature is so I can use Homekit on my Mac. An App that is sorely missing. Though I'm sure for it to function would require more than just porting the Homekit app over, there is likely a lot of underlying dependencies woven throughout the iOS operating system that they would need to put in macOS as-well.

But hey, one can dream.

Kinda would have made sense for a Mac to be apart of homekit I mean especially if your an iMac user that could have been a homekit hub

Gurman has sources but he’s not very good at interpreting what things mean or connecting the right dots. He thought Marzipan meant one OS. Gruber and others were always skeptical.

The single OS never made sense. Apple have always said they don't want to go down that path, that macOS and iOS serve different needs/use cases.

Wow, Apple will have completed the transition from x86 to A15X by the end of 2019? That's bold of Apple.

iOS12 - we've included all the features removed from iOS10, along with all your favourite bugs from iOS11. We found a battery supplier even worse that the last one. In fact, so bad that they either stop working or fail and reduce the CPU speed to an unbelievable 20% CPU speed. Apps opening super fast is a thing of the past. Now you can use your iPhone super slow! New to iOS12.

Too slow to use the apps? why not use the Apps on your Macbook! (great idea!)

We got so many requests from Apple Watch owners who love charging their watch that we now introduced a new feature which drains the battery twice as fast so you now have to put it on charge at least 2-3 times a day. We know you love the next feature. Fitbit doesn't have it, Amazfit, Android Wear, Garmin, they don't have it. Yes. Battery bulge. We found a dodgy battery supplier in China who can make batteries that bulge and make the screen pop off. Amazing I know!

Coming soon to Watch OS 5.

Message is still beta and not in the cloud, that's for iOS14 and one last thing, more emoji!

Arghhh!

Last OS update was a mess
Last IOS update was a mess
Now we're going to get double double the mess
Can't wait!

The new Apple: no new Mac Pro, no updated Macbook Air, no new unified UI framework...watch bands it is then.

some things take time to perfect, also people need to adapt to them, be too ambitious, lose customers. Poor implementation due to haste? also.
You don't lose customers on stability though... So while not as bold, makes sense.

I agree that people shouldn't upset themselves too much because of rumors and predictions failing to meet their expectations. I disagree that the keynote is focused on developers.

This is fine by me. Just continue to focus on performance and stability. I have been very happy with iOS 11 and I don't need much else. There is really no reason to focus so much on new features as Android hasn't had any major features for years and nobody complains about that.

So Ming-Chi Kuo will stop reporting on Apple news, and now Mark Gurman's story may not have been accurate?

It's a sad day for Apple rumors :(

Why? They are rumors, which by definition are unverified and carry a certain about of doubt. You incorrectly uses the word "news" in your post. That is not what is being reported. What is being released is opinion and speculation based on stiching together loosely related data points. The reader has to take it for what it is, and also understand what it is not: matter of fact truth.

Whether this report or any other where Apple hasn't made a comment or announcement, neither we nor analysts, reporters, or "industry insiders" have any idea of official Apple timelines. Timelines shift internally, even daily, as progress or setbacks happen. We even have seen this lately with Apple's announced projects and products. So it's possible earlier reports were correct and this one is too. We can't say either way because official word is this iOS and Mac OS are two separate, only marginally inter-operable OSes right now and in the future.

We are on iOS 11 for iPhone X by the time Apple release this you will probably need a new iPhone to run iOS 13 smoothly... boy oh boy..,Apple the way you force users to upgrade to newer devices to use new software is really chasing a lot of people to Android...all for the quarterly results and shareholders...consumers are actually lower down on your list of priority. o_O

This OS merger has been building up… with iChat becoming Messages, and iPhone into Photos, etc etc. This seems like a natural connection and will benefit some developers to have a single-purchase and run on Macs and iOS devices. BUT… Apple better address Tim's recent statement that no one wants a single OS for computer and mobile, referring to Surface and Windows "touch" .

What is there to address? Do you feel that there should be a single OS for point/click and touch?

Even tho it's in the name? WOLRD WIDE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE, the keynote is a part of that.

I could see availability of the new framework this WWDC but enduser availability in 2019. So us developers get one year head start to learn the new api and write code for it.

If Apple could release IOS & OSX updates with out the OOOPs we forgot about that. Build an OS and fix the mistakes.

Yes even though it's in the name. I mean, MBP still has pro in the name, while the non-TB is meant to replace the MBA. So yeah, naming doesn't say everything.
