Hi Rowly,

I have no experience with that graphics card but indeed it looks like your install of OS may be what is causing the issue. I have the same Mac pro 3,1 as you running high sierra from dosdude's patch and my OS version is 10.13.2 (17C88), not the one you are reporting.

Just check with dosdude's post install patch that you have definitely selected your correct machine from the dropdown list, might help....

Have you installed the 10.13.2 patches? Curious if the hack is "tricking" Apple servers into seeing the machine as an iMac. If so, that may explain why or how (what I believe is) an iMac-specific macOS build ended up on this machine.

MacPro 5,1 shows 10.13.2 (17C205) as latest OS.

Yeh it’s the latest version of OS X

If you have a look about about the build numbers you will see. I have the latest of the OS X.

Could you send me your OS X of the old version please ?
[doublepost=1516044207][/doublepost]There is a script where I can change build number is my system.

Here is the build number thread

Yes my version changed so I have to download the new updated driver .106

I just don’t know. Maybe just won’t work.

I’m now looking for a new card :/

Seen a 660ti will this work

Ah yep you are right i had missed an update so indeed now my Mac pro 3,1 shows 10.13.2 (17C205).

At the end of dosdude's installation of High Sierra you patch the unit based upon your machine hardware so I can't help but think it is this patching that needs to be done again by the OP to correct the issue. It would seem an obvious reason why an iMac-specific OS has been downloaded by the OP for no apparent reason.

It looks a bit strange to me there is no computer's name at here. May be something is wrong at the OS level

You can uninstall CUDA drivers if you are not planning to use any CUDA powered apps like render engines etc. but this probably won't help to get it working properly.

Reverting back to macOS 10.13 and reinstalling the updates correctly may be the OP's best option. Unsure what iMac specific patches were done with the latest security updates.

This may be related to the iMac specific OS running on this hacked/upgraded 3,1.

Im am happy to report that I now have this working :)

The pitcher installed a ATI pitch that needed removing

I have attached the script to the post if anyone else has this problem ..

does your system show as 10.13.2 (17C205) or another build?
what version of NVIDIA web drivers and CUDA are you using?
was the GTX 1050 flashed for boot screens, or is it a standard card?

System Version: macOS 10.13.2 (17C2205) Mac Pro 3,1

Web Driver 378.10.10.10.25.106

CUDA Driver 387.99

Running standard 1050 .. So i get no boot screen ..

System Version: macOS 10.13.2 (17C2205) Mac Pro 3,1

Web Driver 378.10.10.10.25.106

Interesting and unexpected.

Quadro & GeForce macOS Driver Release 378.10.10.10.25.104
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/129756/en-us
Graphics driver updated for macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 (17C205)
This driver update is for Mac Pro 5,1 (2010), Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) and Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) users.

Cannot find the NVIDIA page for 10.13.2 (17C2205) for 378.10.10.10.25.106. Does look like the .106 driver is tied to an iMac specific release, as is noted in this thread:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/to...-macos-high-sierra-update-01112018/?p=2567668

Would suggest you figure out that iMac issue in your 3,1 > 5,1 hack before the next update.

I had this same problem with every nvidia mac I have. two with a 9400, and my mac pro that currently has a GTX 1060, before that it had a GT740. I'm assuming this was either a driver bug or a bug in high sierra. Because as soon as the 10.3.1 update with the coinciding drivers came out, I installed them on all macs and this problem was fixed. I haven't had any problems since.

Sorry for bumping this old thread but I'm having the exact same issue albeit I'm on 10.13.6 with a GTX 1050 TI. I'm also seeing this issue with my old GTX 960.

Tried running this shell script but no difference for me :(

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
