Saw it today and went in with high expectations based on all the rave reviews.
It really does live up to the hype. Excellent movie! I can't wait to see it again.

Saw it this afternoon. Knowing what I know now, I'd wait for streaming, except it is a big screen action Summer movie.

*Decent story, but poor execution of story, felt on the hollow side.
*Healthy doses of humor, several chuckles.
*Good leading characters. Many weak portrayals of secondary characters like Yondo, Koran, The Collector, and Ronan. Director's, script, or actors' fault? Hard to say.
*Great 70s era classic songs (on his Walkman or whatever it was), but terribly generic action music. This was no John Williams.
*Muddled frantic CGI, not focused, helter skelter and too many dark environments.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me. :) I'll give it another chance when it is released for streaming.

Freaking loved it. I love the Guardians, so I've been excited from the moment they announced it was going to be made into a movie.

I'm really excited that Gunn has said that he's working on adding my two favorite Guardians to the sequel; Phyla-Vell and Moon Dragon.

I was afraid it was going to be too silly. It wasn't. Decent movie and I don't care what color Zoe Saldana is, she's always beautiful. Well worth my time.

I still have two free codes for the digital comic if anyone is interested.

Took my granddaughter to see "Guardians of the Galaxy"

Fantastic.

Raccoon with a rocket launcher, it doesn't get any better than that.:p

PM sent. One more code left.

I'd check it out if you still have one.

I finally saw it on Sunday. $5 matinee was just amazing, but I would've paid full price. A funny film with enough action and laughs to justify the price. Way better characters and action than The Avengers, which IMO is one of the most overrated modern movies. Maybe not better than Winter Soldier - bit hard to compare, really, but a definite favorite.

And that soundtrack is #1 by a long shot. There's a playlist of the songs on Spotify I was jamming to last night.

Winter Soldier is awesome

Winter Soldier remains the best Marvel movie for me hands down. If Captain America 3 is that good, I will be thrilled.

Guardians, like the Avengers, was immediately forgotten even as I was watching. This is one Marvel franchise I will politely skip here on out. I am glad people enjoy it but ultimately it was not for me.

It is an amazing super hero movie i have ever seen. It is full with great action that last you a lifetime. It is also a great mixture of comedy and seriousness

Guardians of the galaxy was one of the best Marvel films I've seen thus far. Mainly because I had not head of the characters before, so had semi low expectations.

Winter Soldier was surprisingly awesome too, a sequel much better than the first.

I thought it was a very fun little movie, even if it wasn't exactly a masterpiece.

I was about to leave the movie theater but half way into the movie the dialogs started to become more interesting and funnier.

I am tired that Hollywood is writing scripts on a napkin during lunch. Transformer was lame, Man of Steel too, I mean...

The best movie this year for me has been The Intership, low budged and great script. If you have so much money and resources, why don't you spend a little more time writing something that makes sense? Star Trek is the best example!

Unfortunately the bigger the budget, the larger the audience it needs to make a profit. This means preexisting franchises like Star Trek have to be butchered for the masses.

this is now number 2 of my favorite comic book movies EVER

Watchmen is still number 1

Watchmen is different. I was not sure what to make of the movie, then I read the graphic novel and recognized that in the world of comics it represents unique special story telling with impressive character depth, but the story itself did not satisfy me.

The Directors Cut of the movie is a little better, but to me the comic is one of my favorite comics.

They did leave a lot out of the movie not to mention the horrible sex scene. God, I was having a flash back to the pool scene in Showgirls on how bad it was.

IMO this movie does NOT live to its ridiculous hype.
It was a very good, but not amazing 3.5/5

Interesting... can you give an example of a movie that you think fits that description? I'm just curious.

For me:
2001 a space Odessy
Blade runner
Encounters of the third kind
The matrix
Vanilla sky
Etc

V: The Mini Series is another good one. And Star Trek II (NO, NOT THE ABRAMS ONE!)

I think there is a wide spectrum of scifi from cerebral (a good adjective) on one end, monsters/horror in the middle, and comedy/humorous on the other end, or blends of all of the above. ;)

Anything cerebral would have to do with our existence and/or advanced aliens in a serious light. I'd name 2001, 2010, Contact, and even Prometheus. :)
