If you weren't a fan of Apple's Smart Case that comes with the AirPods Max, high-end luxury brand Gucci is here for you with its own case for the headphones priced at $980.

Gucci's "Ophidia case for AirPods Max" is an online exclusive that brings "vintage and contemporary together through its archive-inspired design elements. Playing with the contrast between past and present, the inside of the accessory is printed with 'Hodiernum'—a Latin word that means 'belonging to the present day.'"

Gucci says the case is made from environmentally friendly materials, features a shoulder strap, brown leather details, and a snap button to secure the AirPods Max in place. Like many AirPods Max accessories, Gucci's case exposes the AirPods Max's canopy allowing for easy carrying.

AirPods Max is priced at $550, meaning Gucci's case is nearly double the cost of the product it is designed for. Gucci does offer another case for standard headphones that costs $920, but it isn't designed for the AirPods Max specifically.

Also what will happen is we will see a flurry of reviews of this bag on social media and when they are done with the review they will send the bag back saying they've changed their mind. Consumer law can be a b****h sometimes :)

I seriously do not understand Gucci.
I seriously do not understand people…
??‍♂️

One would have to sell a kidney to afford that. It's kinda funny that Gucci's website says "monthly payments available". The average Gucci customer has enough cash to not need monthly payments; only people who waste their money on luxury despite having an average income would need this.
True that… but the market is aimed at the ones aspiring to own this. The poor sods who have been "influenced" by their Insta/Youtube idols.
Many (if not most) of them can not afford this stuff. They live on credit.

Sad thing is, by the time they finish their payments on this bag the fashion will have moved on and they are stuck with a ridiculously overpriced piece of tat.

This isn't as "extravagant" (price versus value of contents) as some other designer items used for holding or carrying things e.g., business card holders can run a few hundred dollars.

It's an overpriced popular fashion brand. There isn't anything to understand. Walk on any high street and walk past any of these shops. If you saw people wearing clothing like that in real life they'd look like weird extras from the Hunger Games.
It's funny you say that. A fancy new restaurant recently opened in my town, and suddenly a bunch of strange, impractically-dressed people showed up wearing 3/4 length pants and frilly shawls. The food is excellent though.

"This ones for all you Gucci bag carriers out there, you got gooooooood taste"

Lux Interior (RIP)

Way to expensive (over a paycheck for me!), and not that attractive. I get that I'm not the target demographic, but still.

Reminds me of a school PTO fundraiser I saw. "No act… is too small" and the smallest pre-defined amount its $500. Umm… no. And yes, I know you can put in a lower amount, but having $500 as the smallest pre-defined amount implies that they think $500 is "small". Don't get me wrong, anyone who donates is very generous, but don't complain that school staff gets paid too much and then donate that amount of money.

Actually you'd be surprised how many people in this world buy stupid **** from Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. on credit and can't pay for it.

When I worked at the post office all of us first years were making about $75k a year working 60-70 hours a week. Another first year as soon as he possibly could went out and bought a $75k Infiniti on ridiculously stupid credit. A car that he's never going to be driving working that many hours a week in a job he then couldn't quit because the payments handcuffed him.

We all roasted him and offered to buy his car for $60k because that was the value of it as soon as he drove it off the lot. Point is, there are more people that are stupid with money than there are people smart with it.
