There will be gasps when the price of the gold one is revealed, shortly followed by lols and griping by tech sites and Internet blowhards that clearly haven't a clue about gold prices, expensive watches or the market Apple are targeting.

I remember some fairly prominent tech dude (can't remember who) expressing amazement at the prospect of $70 straps. $70 lol, that'll be at the ultra cheap end.

The biggest shock? Let me think...

1. Someone will try to bend it on YouTube. :p
2. The most expensive Edition combination (of watch & strap) will be $10,000+. Anyone who buy it will get a red carpet treatment.
3. Some of the most expensive models will be sold out on Day 1 and very hard to find for at least half a year.
4. At this year WWDC, people will be more interested on how the new iPhone can improve the watch than how the new iPhone performs itself.
5. Girls will be crazy about :apple:Watch and buy iPhone just because of it.

What else? hmm...

6. Lots of celebrity instagrams with :apple:Watch. (Will that be shocking?)
7. And battery life will turns out to be just as **** as rumoured. :D

I'm hoping for a James Bond-style garrotte wire behind the Digital Crown.

biggest surprise

I think the biggest surprise for me would be, that Apple would release info early so people like us would be able to stop most of this supposition on their products, and be able to make a definite decision on the model they want.

Raise-to-wake won't work 100%..

The Apple Watch is designed to remain dark until a wearer raises his or her arm. In the prototypes worn around the Cupertino campus at the end of last year, this feature was still glitchy. For Marc Newson, it took three attempts—an escalation of acting styles, from naturalism to melodrama—before his screen came to life.

Hopefully they'll have an alternate, like tapping to watch/screen, like Nike Sportwatch...

I suspect the first version will be marginal in many areas (like the first iPad). Battery life is too short and it's WAY to CHUNKY for me.

Even if the battery life was better, you wouldn't want to sleep with a watch that will wake-up accidentally constantly.

No silly... You won't have to worry about that because you'll probably have to charge it every night, and you can't charge it while it's on your wrist :p

It is only about a 350 to 450mAh battery so you could easily charge it while taking a shower/getting ready. There should be no reason why you can't get a 90% or so charge in less that an hour.

When did they announce that it was a 350-450 mAh battery? I don't remember that...

Because Apple won't have this figured out by launch? That anecdote was from last year.

And it would be a shock / surprise if they haven't, right? I thought that was the point of this thread. Am I not getting it or is it most others?

I'll be surprised if battery life isn't a constant worry. Also if pricing ranges more than a few hundred dollars, maybe up to $1500 or so.

I think the Apple watch won't be like an iPhone event on day one. many will wait to see one in person. I do think however it will catch like wildfire and people will want them once they see them in public. Kids will want them for Xmas and that will be the big item for the holidays.

Nobody ever mentions the kids element. My ten year old daughter took one look at them and immediately wanted one. Luckily, she likes the Sport model the best.

I think these watches are going to be all over the place in no time.

Does your ten-year old daughter have an iPhone?

If not, the Apple watch is going to be very limited in functionality. In fact, some have speculated that you might need an iPhone just to get music onto the watch, so even if you just wanted to use it as an MP3 player, you might still need an iPhone.

But come to think of it, that could be the big surprise -- Apple comes out with an "iPod watch" that takes the place of the iPod nano in the iPod lineup and is basically the watch minus any feature that requires an Internet connection.

That's an excellent point.

I wonder if Apple will make the Watch Compatible with the iPod Touch?
There would be many things you could do with the Touch.

Yeah, the A5 chip is to old to run Watch app moreover IOS on the iPod Touch.

I am confused as to why something as small and low power as the Apple Watch, needs a POWERHOUSE of another iOS device to keep the watch running?

Have you look at about some news on Watch? Some apps need the power of the iPhone...
