OK, some clues... it's the last line of the movie. Made in the early 1970s. The director/writer developed with the film as a student project, and then got financing to make a full-fledged motion picture out of it. I'm pretty sure I know it from the clues and I am sure now that I've googled it but I won't post an answer I cheated for so I'll leave it up to someone else to post. Of course there's always the chance I am wrong.
I'm going to take a crack at this....is it THX 1138?
