I would imagine it is a hardware issue. Bring it to the Genius Bar and they may either swap the speaker or the unit. I am not sure if they will physically repair iPhone 4s or if they just swap. Depending on the diagnosis, your warranty may or may not cover it. That is up to the Genius and warranty coverage. The Genius will explore repair and replacement options with you. Then simply change the ESN over with Page Plus Customer Service.

Genius bar is last choice?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but they're swamped, and its an hour drive to the mall. And I know there's no warranty. They're good folks - just my last resort until after the holidays.

And I like to think there's a DIY for everything :p

Thanks, Altemose. I agreee its probably hardware, just wish I could confirm that. The phone was working fine according to my 70 y/o mother. but its been sitting around her house for a couple months, and endured a cross-country journey ala USPS, so who knows.

I'll probably go the Ifixit route, as you suggested, especially since no one else has commented. I've used their guides before on a variety of laptops, and this looks pretty straight forward. I'm happy to help support them in any case.

Also, I know this may not sound like it would work but have you tried to do a restore through iTunes while in DFU mode not recovery mode. Nothing would be on the phones screen but the computer would recognize it. It essentially wipes the entire memory completely and freshly reinstalls everything. Give this a shot before you disassemble your iPhone.

So I have a verizon iPhone 4 CDMA with the lastest ISO on it not jailbroken will I be able to just call Pageplus and transfer my account from my old iPhone to my new iPhone with it not being jailbroken?

Will this work with iPhone 4 Sprint? I had jailbroken the phone so I know the ESN/MEID is already been used on pageplus but If I remove jailbreak and call pageplus it should still be in their system currect?

I used this sprint iphone on pageplus while it was jailbroken, I am going to attempt to remove JB and port a new number to the phone with out jb cause the MEID should still be in pageplus system,

Voice Mail Notification HELF on PP with iPhone 4s

I've posted on Howard Forums to no avail. First off though I want to thank you for all the info you provided that helped me get PP for my Verizon out-of-contract iPhone 4S. The senior plan was costing me a fortune and I am thrilled with PP. BUT I cannot get the voice mail notification to work. Does anyone know of a fix? I do understand PP is not compatible with Visual Voicemail and I do get voice mails ok. I just don't get notified. Thus I have to call voicemail for every missed called. Any advice appreciated! Eason, Sprint phones are (obviously) not supported. However, I am guessing you used the CommCenter Patch while on iOS 6. There is a thread regarding a similar circumstance. Check it out using this link below. I have never tried using a Sprint phone and like all the other info in my guide, it is at your own risk.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1801018-Flashed-Sprint-iPhone-4-to-Page-Plus-with-iOS7

As for ddlb's voicemail issue, I think it has to do with Verizon. Since the phone was on Verizon, it probably is still programmed and "thinks" visual voicemail is supported. Then it tries to use appropriate protocols to alert you even though Visual Voicemail doesn't work on Page Plus. I would say try a DFU Restore and set it up as a new phone. However, if you are trying to avoid a restore (e.g. on iOS 6 still), start with a networks settings reset. Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings. Report back if the reset fixed it or if you had to restore. I am using an iPhone 4 running 7.0.4 and notifications work, however Visual Voicemail is unsupported. I hope it works out for you.

I am kind of scared to try this. (senior) It won't mess up my Page Plus settings and deactivate me from PP right as I had to go thru a dealer to get the iPhone 4S accepted! Really appreciate your input as what you said makes sense. DDLB

A deactivation is done on the side of Page Plus. You cannot have a phone deactivated through the phone itself. When an iPhone is restored, it will activate during setup. You should have no problems unless they used a jailbreak to activate it. Did you send the phone off to have it activated?

The 4S is natively supported on Page Plus due to it being a 3G phone. So provided the phone is active on Page Plus' end, it will activate. I do not use Page Plus any more, but I am happy to help anyone with their endeavor on this forum.

Thanks for this guide

Great guide, just want to thank the OP and all who contributed info.

We activated two VZW iPhones, a 4 and 4s, on http://www.exclusivecellular.com with the Talk n Text 1200 plan from Page Plus at $28.75 (discounted) a month, vs $40 + data on VZW. This is great for my now adult children (we converted from a family plan). They get smartphones and the (cheaper) bills.

We used this form to port the numbers, with good success:
http://www.exclusivecellular.com/page-plus-port-in-activation.html

Just read the page carefully, and note time frames, procedures.

Exclusive Cellular is a great dealer who will get you hooked up without going through Page Plus customer service. I had used them to first get set up with a trial number, then I requested a number in my preferred ZIP code.

Is your iPhone 4 running at 100%?

Hey Altemose,

Happy New Year!

I see reading thru your guide and thru your posts in this forum that you have an Verizon iPhone 4 32gb and have it up and running on Page Plus. I also have a Verizon iPhone 32gb and I am thinking about moving it and porting my number to Page Plus. My question is how is iOS 7.0.4 running on Page Plus? Is your phone fully functional? Text Message, iMessage, MMS, Data, Voice Calls, Facetime, Visual Voicemail, iTunes Store, App Store? Is there anything I should know about what features I might or might not have with Page Plus that I had with Verizon? Thank You for your help! :)

I want to start out by saying I am no longer using the phone on Page Plus, however I just set a family member up with an iPhone 4 on Page Plus and so I still can speak from experience. You do not need a particular capacity of storage for it to work. The pre-requisites to using a phone on Page Plus is that it must be a Verizon 3G device (4 and 4S), must be in good standing (clean ESN), and must not be tied to any other accounts.

Provided your ESN is clean and the phone is not otherwise activated, the activation should go smoothly. In my experience, Visual Voicemail will not work. If you tap the Voicemail button in the bottom right it will simply dial *86 for the regular voicemail. All the rest of it works, and there is no data throttling. You cannot however use Mobile Hotspot.

Aside from Visual Voicemail and Mobile Hotspot, the iPhones work beautifully on Page Plus.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response!
Ok that sounds great! My phone esn is clean, I'm still with Verizon but I have been out of contract with them for almost a year now. So should I cancel my service completely with Verizon prior to trying to activate it on Page Plus?

If you are porting your number then DO NOT cancel the Verizon account. After the port is complete Verizon will close it. If you are getting a new number then it won't matter, but you would lose the old by canceling it.

Thanks for all your help and support but I forgot to ask one important question before I start the process of porting my number to Page Plus. Does my iPhone have to be unlocked or flashed to work on Page Plus or it doesn't matter?

Altemose,

Thanks for this thread! There is tons of good info here.

I have read that if using a VZW iphone4 you should leave voice roaming enabled. Is this correct?

My parents live in an area where both VZW and a roaming provider, USCellular, provide service. The VZW coverage can be bit a bit more spotty than the USCC coverage in some areas. I wanted to help them be sure they weren't using costly roaming minutes by disabling the voice and data roaming options.

If I will be stuck relying on educating them about the "Extended" indicator then I would like to know that in advance.

I plan to use Exclusive Cellular to port the number over directly from VZW. I figure that is less complicated than moving the number to their old razr and then adding the device to the pageplus. Their line is already off contract.

Thanks again.

Provided it is a Verizon device, no flashing is necessary. Just activate and *22890 and your golden. Unlocking doesn't apply to CDMA phones like Verizon or Sprint, only AT&T and T-Mobile.

As for the part about the roaming settings. I only said to turn voice roaming on as when activating, the phone will lock on "No Service" as before the PRL is downloaded, the phone doesn't know what tower to use. Thus after you activate you can turn all roaming off. Since it is activated it will work fine.

Iphone 4 Help Needed

Altemose,

I read your first post on this thread and I was hoping that during all of your research you may have come across some information that may help me with my situation. I bought an Iphone 4 from ebay with a bad ESN. I thought I could still activate it on prepaid specifically Page Plus but to no avail. I was able to find out through Verizon that the phone was not stolen or lost and apparently the previous owner either didn't pay their bill or they didn't satisfy their contract. Do you know of any one or any way I can get the ESN/MEID either changed or cleared so I can port my current Page Plus number to the Iphone? I am a disabled sheriff deputy and my previous phone (Casio Commando G'zOne) froze on the start up screen and no one knows how to fix it so I bought the Iphone so I have a phone in the event of an emergency for when I leave my home (medical issues hence disabled.) I can't have someone with me at all times but I need to be able to contact my wife etc etc just in case. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Headstrong569,

I do not know of a way to clear the ESN, short of having Verizon do it. You are kind of at their mercy with this iPhone. It is possible that a supervisor may be able to help. There is no legal way to change the ESN to a known good one. If Verizon isn't going to help, I would consult with Apple. They may be able to do something but I am not sure. It would be different if this was a bad ESN Sprint 4 that you wanted on Page Plus.

I hope you find a resolution for this issue.

Sprint iPhone 4S help

Altemose,

I have a sprint iphone 4s that was given to me for having a bad ESN. I'm wondering if I would be able to activate it using your steps. I know on your post it says I need to have a clean ESN/MEID in order to activate it. I tried activating it by going to a page plus dealer and so far they had no luck. They told me that it has to be on iOS6 and only voice and text will work and not data. I'm currently running iOS 7.0.2 and its not jailbroken or unlocked. So I tried to downgraded but I guess apple stopped signing off the ipsw. Hope u can help me find a solution. Thanks again.
