Under iOS 6, there was a complete guide which was tested true many times over. With iOS 7's jailbreak being so fresh and new many devs have not updated their tweaks. There is a forum at the link below which details the iOS 7 steps. I recommend calling Page Plus Customer Service to activate the ESN.

I do not have a Sprint iPhone 4 to test with and as usual with this guide it is completely at your risk. However, I do believe this is going to work based off of similar guides written for iOS 6.

For the record, Talk For Good has sadly closed. I am kind of disappointed because they did offer some great plans for the light user, especially with the data add on. However, Page Plus recently picked up in their place and offered Flex Data for even their $12.00 plan which would in total cost $22.00 with the Flex Data and give 250 Minutes, 250 Texts, and 210 MB of Data.

Page Plus really is creating some new options with the increased data on their Talk and Text 1200 and TnT Unlimited plans as well as this new Flex Data option!

Another successful activation

Namaste! Thanks for the wonderful guide! I just completed this (for my gf) and I'd like to add a recap of my experience.

* When procuring my phone, I had the best experience on ebay. I found that 95% of the phones priced cheaper than $200 had problems (bad esn, cracked screen, water damage, etc). Sadly, there were also many people who thought they could get $220 for their phone that had been run over by a semi. I also found that people would just put "See description" in the title, and then at the end of the posting they say "It's a beautiful phone in perfect shape, but the esn is bad". At the end of the (exhausting) day, my search string looked something like this: verizon iphone 4s -bad -water -damage -description -cracked

* The PP site crashed constantly, but this worked out to my advantage - when you tell the chat operator the site crashed, they are usually extra-eager to help you. Also, in order to get anything working on the site (especially adding a plan), I had to use Internet Explorer, which was a pita since I use linux.

* When you go to activate, they may say "your meid starts with 99000, is this a 4g device?" Don't be fooled by this line - I think they try to trick you into telling them it's an iphone so they can tell you to take a hike. Just make sure you actually do have an iphone4 (wide dock connector at the bottom), and say "It's not a 4g phone, just activate it pretty please". If they asked what kind of phone it was, I planned to tell them that I didn't know - just to play as dumb as possible, and say "the phone has a thick case on it, I can't *see* any apple logos anywhere".

* Use the internet chat as much as possible. Their call center is located offshore somewhere - which means that everybody speaks with a super-thick accent, and it's just impossible to understand what they say. Eventually, I just kept saying "ok, got it", and then went back to the chat feature and got straight answers. YMMV, but this was my experience.

* When you do call *22890, it's important to have voice roaming turned on... however, in my case, I had to make sure "verizon" showed at the top of the screen for *22890 to complete successfully. If it said "roaming", then it would give a "us cellular" error message and hang up. Once I got activated, however, it seems to roam onto US Cellular with no problem... which is awesome because US Cellular has the best signal in my part of the 707.

* When you activate your phone with your "temporary number", they give you $2.00 credit - however, every time I called *22890, it cost me 15 cents. So, if you are porting a number, don't squander that $2! It could take a few tries to port a number successfully (esp if you roam by accident as noted in my previous point). Remember, you aren't supposed to "add a plan" to an account until *after* you've successfully ported a number, so you could be stuck in no-man's-land for a couple days. For reference, your phone number isn't fully ported until the proper # shows up at "settings -> phone -> my number", and you may have to place a call after *22890 in order to make sure the porting happened correctly. Once my number was ported, it gave me another $2!

I hope this helps someone. It was quite an ordeal (start-to-finish took about 4 days), but I think it'll be much easier when I make the jump (bc I'll be using android).

Page Plus not so easy

I have a Verizon iPhone 4S from a previous employer, and tried to activate on PagePlus using the instruction at the beginning of this thread. I wanted to do it over the weekend, because it is for my wife, who tutors and needs her phone at all times. The online activation with a new number cost $10 so I tired the port in. I started at 4:30 PM CST yesterday, and was told at 11:30 AM CST today that there is a problem and it will be 24-48 hours til she has a phone again.

You should never do a port in via the online form. The online database scans for iPhone and other blacklisted phones via their ESN numbers. Each brand and model has a specific range which makes it easy for carriers to determine. Always call or chat if trying to activate, as mentioned in my guide.

Since you made it this far, there is not much we can do since your number is in negotiations with the other carrier. You should have received a black listed notification when porting in. Once again, since the guide was not followed I cannot comment on the process from here on.

No problem. Page Plus really is great in terms of rates, service, and customer care. Glad to hear it is working well.

Actually, I have one issue right now. I just bought the $30 plan that includes 500MB of data and I have no luck to getting it working. I do notice I have VM (for Voice/Messaging I believe) but no access to any data.

Any idea? :(

The Page Plus site probably won't offer data as a "feature" you can configure. My iPhone ran like this without issue. Was your iPhone ever jailbroken? Was it previously activated with this install of iOS? I would try a fresh restore and report back!

If it is a Verizon phone with a bad ESN then be thankful that it even works for call and text; it isn't supposed to. That being said give a restore a shot.

Alright. Good news!

I reset. Same issue as before.

However, I pulled up the online chat and she asked for my number, and then told me to call *22890 to activate my phone. Then dial any normal phone number and at that point it'll ask you what language you want to use to activate. After that my data works!

I've used my iphone 4 for the past year on page plus, with no problems. I had it set up through beigephone.com. Since its been so good, I bought my mom's iphone 4 to set up and give to my husband. I had no problems establishing the account, and I can use the phone to make and receive calls.

However, I can only hear through earbuds, or on speaker. There is zero sound on the receiver. I can hear the keys as I dial a number, but that sound comes through the speaker. I've done a full reset & restore, checked the earbud jack for debris, and looked at the receiver screen (not a lot you can see there). I don't see any thing wrong from where I sit. I've had this problem with other phones, and it was always earbud-jack related.

So my question is, is there any possibility that there is a software glitch somewhere, or something that beigephone did that I don't know to do? If not, is there anything else I can do - software or hardware - before spending money having someone else look at it? I'm pretty sure its the phone itself, but thought I might find some good advice here!

FYI - the phone is model A1349, the same as mine.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Is there a Bluetooth headset attached? Try going to Settings --> General --> Accessibility --> Incoming Calls --> Default

Do you see an Audio Source button when on a call? It sounds more to me like a hardware issue. Try dialing *22890 and listen through the earpiece to see if it works then.

I was under the assumption you activated your account before hand. Glad to hear it is working.

Just as a notice for anyone lurking on this thread, TalkForGood closed down. That being said, Page Plus is taking up the market with some new plans and now beats out the plans that were on TalkForGood.

So I was looking into moving four CDMA Verizon iPhone 4S over to Page Plus for several months because my two year contract was ending and I wanted cheaper plans. I could never find a straight answer from any website and even the OP makes it seem like it can't happen without gaming the system.

FYI: it's a straight forward process. Just make an account, port the numbers, reprogram the phones (*22890), add the numbers to your account, buy plans (pins) for your account and voila you're all set up. All four iPhones (4S) were up and running in less than an hour and I'm still on the Verizon network but now for much less $$. No need to try to free up numbers first or hide that it's an iPhone.

EDIT: All were on iOS 7 btw. As others have reported, there is no Visual Voicemail support but the YouMail app covers that well enough.

I did not intend to sound like it is gaming the system. That being said the web site does throw issues up with some iPhones, so I wrote the guide to let people know how I did it and know that it works.

iPhone 4S Sprint to Pageplus

I did everything you said and they will activate the phone, but apparently I cant get data on a Sprint 4S phone on the pageplus network.

I have read jail breaking and more. Its getting pretty messy. Am I right or wrong. Any suggestions.

On a Sprint 4s it will get talk and text. The Sprint 4 is a great one to use as it allows full flashing. Best of luck. Only Verizon models are supported in my guide and I made it clear that Sprint devices "may" work.

My contract just ran out on an iPhone 4s through Verizon.

Contacted PagePlus through a LiveChat session. After I pasted my ESN, they helpfully informed me that the service could not be guaranteed on 4G phones and that if I needed support activating it, I would need to see a dealer or take my chances.

Naively, I said "No problem, the 4S is a 3G phone, not 4G." "Jennifer" then said that "PagePlus cannot activate iPhones on their network". Case closed.

Closed the window and tried again.

Got through to "Gregg" who told me the exact same thing. When he asked if I still wanted to go through with the process, I said "Yes, please" instead of divulging any additional details.

He gave me my new number, MIN, and SID.

He did NOT give me the activation number of *22890 like they did just 3 days prior when I activated an old Motorola Droid for a pre-paid minute plan for my son.

So knowing what I learned here, I tried the *22890 standard programming number and it worked perfectly.

Before *22890 I made sure that Voice Roaming and Data Roaming were enabled. I disabled Data Roaming immediately afterwards.

So long story short... it's easy to transfer a Verizon branded iPhone 4s to PagePlus, just don't disclose to them under any circumstance that you're transferring an iPhone. Voice and Data working perfectly and easily. They don't need to know, and you don't need to divulge! :)

Another great success. To the person who said I was "gaming the system", I politely disagree. As you can see, they are not supposed to activate iPhones. So I wrote the guide so people can activate them perfectly and without issue.

I have an existing PP account that I'm trying to move to an iPhone. Got the same response a few others when going thru PP chat and when asked the question of whether I wanted to continue, said no. I'm going to try again and say yes proceed when asked. Sound about right? Cheers

Just say that you want to switch the ESN. Then if they ask if it is 4G tell them it is not and already is setup to work on Page Plus. It should be no problem getting it switched over.
