If you have Lion and your Mac can run it sure they must work. What do you need VMware for? What we are doing here is installing an hacked Mountain Lion into 64 bits capable unsupported Macs.

If you have Lion and your Mac can run it sure they must work. What do you need VMware for? What we are doing here is installing an hacked Mountain Lion into 64 bits capable unsupported Macs.
Because I love Mountain Lion. I need VMware for using iWork, iLife, iBook, and Pixelmator at Lion, so I spend more time in hacked ML than in Lion. I have Lion and ML on my same Macbook. When I want to play the games OpenGL-based, I go to Lion. When I want to see the videos and the cam, I'll use Ubuntu or Lion on VMWare at hacked ML or I share my Mac mini's sharing screen on my hacked ML at my MBW. (I don't have a monitor, so my grandma's monitor uses the VGA entrance.)
So does that mean you applied 10.8.1 straight to your hacked ML without modding ?
Yes, but you need to have Pacifist. Just open the package with Pacifist in demo mode and run it from there. It is only few MB anyway, it doesn't include kexts. Well, not AppleHDA at least. 10.8.2 does. But it does check for the supported systems (hence the need of Pacifist. It bypasses it and installs each piece one by one).

Yes, that's how I did it. That should work for any update. We are running ML into a Mac, not in a PC with Chameleon and tricks like that. The only thing is that we may need to reapply the kexts. Just the common one like AppleHDA since the GMA kexts, not being supported, will never be present.
Not really. Sorry. 🙂 If I understood you correctly you do not need to hack ML to run it on VMWare. Just install ML in a VMware virtual machine as it is. VMware has its own kexts/tricks to run it. here we are talking about running ML natively on the unsupported Macs hardware.
Anyway, talking about VMware. I am running just now a Windows XP virtual machine on VMWare 5 from Mountain Lion. My only issue is the lack of RAM. What the heck is the need for QE/CI on a GMA 950?? Even the HTML5 HD videos play better than in bleeding Lion!

In Lion, I have installed ML on VMWare and it worked very well. It includes Ink at Settings. But I have a problem: ML's Unity mode from VMWare is disabled. Because I enable the unity mode, I'll add Reminders, Messages, Safari ML and Notes to Lion's dock. But when they warm me with the alerts, VMWare advice via Growl or not?
It's Fairly simple:
Install Lion into VMWare or Paralles. Buy and download using the vm. then using shared folders or something like that, transfer to your MacBook.

I tried to download Lion 10.7 from Mac App Store in Lion and in hacked ML for installing it on VMWare, but Apple said I couldn't download because it was newer version.

Originally it wouldn't even boot, i just got the no entry symbol. I put the hack in the platformsupport.plist to add the XServe2,1 as a supported machine. It booted, but the actual installer still refused to believe it was a supported model. So i cloned an existing installation of ML onto the XServes hard drive, and added the XServe2,1 model and the board number into the platformsupport.plist preference file in /System/Library/CoreServices on the newly copied installation. The machine booted perfectly. The only other thing i had to do is copy over the X1300 graphics drivers from a Lion installation and the machine is working perfectly. The only thing as i said is Remote Desktop is a bit sluggish, there may be something in the graphics drivers that isn't functioning correctly, but other than that no problems at all. In fact i'm surprised at just how well it runs. Just don't expect to be using any high graphics capable apps on it! Which most people wouldn't. In fact most people who use XServes don't even plug monitors into them!

I just installed ML on my MB (installation was pretty easy, thx hackerwayne 😀), but.... I still have a question..... Can some1 explain exactly how I can upgrade to 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 beta?? I'm afraid of having problems after the installation.....

meanwhile, i found (sort of xD) a solution for the lid / sleep problem on the MacBooks..... you can use a little tool called "NoSleep" witch prevents crashing the mac, but keeps the display and system on..... (I think it's ok for the time until we find a better solution.... 😉 )

Stupid question, but does the DP have some drawback compared to the retail version? Cause, if the GMA950 driver issue can be solved then theoretically ML can also boot on the Classic Macbook (2006 MB1.1), can't it? Considering it has a 32 bit kernel.

dude..... apple already kicked the core duo only-macbook in lion...... (I had one, too) so....why should it work now, in ML???
and, I think my question isn't *that* stupid, I just don't wanna brick my ML and I'm pretty sure there are more people in here who don't know exactly how it works...... -.-

Oh, please. Kicked it? That "bug" is stupidly easy to bypass. You don't even have to make an effort. There's even a pre-modded distro made by iAtkos for lazy people.
I know because were running Lion on every 2006 Macbook (same as mine w/o SSD) we have due to "compatibility issues" with our newer Macs. Much to my suffering and dismay...
....really?? ok sry I thought iAktos is for PCs (hackintosh, had one and heard of iAktos before my macs)....but afaik apple removed the 32-bit kernel completely in ML.....in activity monitor, every system process and program is "Intel 64-bit", no single one is just "Intel".....I'm afraid that's why we / wayne had the problems with the 32-bit kexts, sleep mode and other stuff, too....

No worries, mate. iAtkos made five distros, of which four were for PC's. Its easy to get it wrong if you're not a die-hard hackintosher.
But yeah, Retail ML only has a 64bit kernel. Which is why I intended to use DP1, which still has a 32bit kernel.
EDIT: I just realized I'm talking out of my arse. The Macbooks are running Lion Developer Preview, not retail. Its still Lion i suppose, just a bit less Lion. A cub perhaps?

well I was pretty sure that there is no hack for the retail, but i had no time to google it... I still remember Leopard..... Apple kicked the whole G3-architecture, but at the WWDC Steve Jobs said they're gonna keep it and in the first Dev-Preview it was still included......

The DPs are the Developer Previews. i.e. BETA version of the OS. ML DP1 has been the only ML version with the 32 bits kernel. You wanna install that one? Sure you can. Probably it would work on a Core Duo 32 bits CPU as well. I mean.. when it works. It is obviously bugged, not definitive, the API may be different, some applications may/will crash. It would be just a call for troubles.
My OS of choice is Snow Leo anyway, but i like to tinker. And i have the space anyway. Why? Because I can.
I mean, Leopard on a Daystar Powerbook G3 is possible. It doesn't run very well, but its fun to play around with.
