Thank goodness. On my night stand I have three different types of charging cables to charge all my accessories, 4 including the Apple Watch charger. It would be nice to get these down to 1-2 cables.
I Have a pretty ancient charging stand on my nightstand. It includes a lean to wireless pad for iPhone, a puck station for A Watch (you put the Apple Watch charging puck in it) , and a "tab: on top of the watch puck station that you can stick your "lightning" AirPods on. One device...all three concerns.

They are literally not allowed to.
Do you have a source for that? I am pretty sure they can indeed go without ports. The way I understood the rule in EU is that they have to have USB-C IF the device has a port. For example, the Apple Watch doesn't have a port and therefore doesn't have to have USB-C.

You literally might be right :D But the question is whether Apple would be dumb enough to rely on MagSafe for data transfers. I look forward trying to wirelessly transfer an SD card from my camera to my iPhone.

It will be funny to see everyone who views every decision Apple makes as a cynical attempt to charge customers more line up behind the portliest iPhone decision which would require everyone to buy a MagSafe puck because they sure wont be in the box.

If the spirit of the law is to ease customer burden, I expect the final write law to mandate USB-C charging and data transfer in addition to whatever other decision the Manufacturer makes. Kind of like how MacBooks can have MagSafe because they also have USB charging.
