I’m not sure my AirPod Pro’s will last until next year. It will be interesting to see what the new Beats buds offer, as a stopgap for the new Pro’s - the one thing I need them to do to be in consideration, is the pressure equalization. I can’t use in-ear headphones without it.

I use my headphones 5 days a week for work, and for workouts 6 days a week, and they’ve been working great, with only the occasional disconnect during phone calls, not surprising given I have my iPhone, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro all active for most calls, so lots of competing BT signals. But I am getting some static-like effects in the left AirPod, likely from water / sweat intrusion.
Bring your Airpod Pros to the Apple store. There is an extended warranty for crackling in the ear bud. They have a special test. They then replace both if you have the issue.

I did not know that - thanks for the recommendation. Would rather do that than have to spend more money prior to the next update. Taking them to the Apple store this afternoon to have them looked at and hopefully get replaced.

I was so stoked for new buds. The scratching for me was persistent in the left ear bud and was not due to music or anything. Got worse really quick. Hope you can get some new buds.

My ears must be so weird, AirPods fit great, but the AirPod Pro really hurt my ears. Yes, I’ve tried other brand tips. Love the sound with the pro‘s but… If Apple changes the AirPod 3 design to the Pro’s design, I be out of luck. #FirstWorldProblems

Apple is preparing to launch third-generation AirPods this year, and plans to release second-generation AirPods Pro next year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In line with previous leaks and rumors, Gurman explained that Apple is readying third-generation AirPods for launch later this year. The updated earbuds will apparently come with a new case and feature shorter stems, broadly mirroring the design of the current AirPods Pro.

Looking to 2022, Gurman said that the second-generation AirPods Pro will feature updated motion sensors and have a focus on fitness tracking.Apple has apparently tested a smaller design that eliminates the stems on AirPods Pro. This stemless design is expected to debut on new Beats Studio Buds that are rumored to launch next month.

Apple purportedly originally planned to release the second-generation AirPods Pro in 2021, but for reasons that are unclear, the launch has been pushed back to 2022.

Moreover, Apple is said to not currently be working on a second-generation of its AirPods Max over-ear headphones, but it has discussed launching additional color options in the future.

Sorry but I gotta call BS on Gurman regarding AirPods Pro + Fitness Tracking being built in.
Apple has made great strides with minimal fitness tracking directly on iPhone and especially HUGE strides with Apple Watch having all kinds of Fitness within, it makes no sense for Apple to make a high-end headphones with any Fitness built in to attract customers that don’t have Watch/iPhone. Jabra Elite Pros have these and they’re not selling well at all, the Elite Sport wireless (with wire between the headphones) did well but the price point of those was close to PowerBeats 1/2 - which is where Apple should design and target, NOT AirPods Pro price range.

The point of fitness tracking with the AirPods is …what, exactly? The Watch surely does it better and the phone can do it if you don’t want a Watch. And if it uses up any of that precious battery life, I don’t want it. Unless it’s some sort of precursor to a head tracking AR feature, I don’t see the point.

If the Pros being delayed means they can have lossless though, then take all the time you need, Apple.
The more tracking points the more precise the data. You can probably extrapolate a lot of movement from a person wearing a watch, airpods and having a phone in the pocket. This will become important when augmented reality becomes a thing (and when VR will be more mainstream) so people will stream their avatars in realtime.

Also, i’d bet that airpods will get body temperature measurement some day.

What do you do with your "old" airpods? I have one pair which do not hold any charge. I am feeling guilty in just binning them.
Apple will take them back and “recycle” them in some fashion.

I wouldn’t fret too much even if you have to throw them out. AirPods are tiny little pieces of plastic with a small amount of metal. Compare this with the massive about of plastic and metal that we throw out or recycle each day from food and product packaging? The AirPod is just a blip in that pile.

And I thought Lossless Hi-Res audio was the more desirable feature for earphones…
I wouldn’t want lossless hi-res if it impacts battery life one bit. I won’t be able to hear the difference on such small speakers anyway. Oh, but if they have gold contacts on the lightning cable I may have to get them. 😄

do you care about anything fitness related on airpods? i dont, and cant fathom why i would need it.

the current airpods pro are a tremendous product at what i think is a good price (190$ USD easily on sale). i was a huge skeptic but came away ridiculously impressed.

bought them on a whim and im flabbergasted at simply how good a thing it is: top notch comfort, the connection stability/reliability and apple integration is nuts, the noise cancellation AND pass-thru is more natural than anything ive used, case is well engineered, first headphone/earphone device where callers havent complained about microphone quality, and the spatial audio again was a big surprise.
Your wording sounds like cheap advertisement.

I just need ones with 'stay the heck in my ear' technology. It's not apples fault, but AirPods and AirPods Pro won't stay in, I've even tried replacing the foam tips.

I may need to trade them in for something like the Bose ones with the little tip that goes in the other part of my ear. But I'll be sad because the case is massive, and the integration isn't as tight.

Maybe there are some design changes on these ones.

i have in my office numerous audio-technica, sennheiser, etymotics. in the past akg, grado, ultimate ear. wireless sony, b&w, jabra, jaybird, etc.

these apples were both the biggest surprise and get the most use.

if anyone feels like paying for me $ for saying that, i wont turn them down.
