My iPhone 6 is spotting with enthusiasm. Just kidding. It’s wanted a maxi pad since launch. Kidding. Period.

No way cook lets this go under 249, remember he wants to pad the bottom line.
Apple is courageous with their pricing but not foolhardy. Padding the bottom line implies that people will buy your products, which is obviously not going to happen when they are priced out of whack.

The Belkin charger sells at $69. Airpower in the very least is the equivalent of 2 wireless chargers, so probably between $99 to $139. That's my personal guess.

Looking forward to this.

My current setup is 3 wires to charge my iPhone/Watch/AirPods and having one cable will be nice.

Wonder how it would charge when using a Milanese band?

Do agree 3 cables is a pain. Be nice charging two phones at once too

True... and the idea of having a single charging pad is certainly appealing, though I see two potential issues:

1. Will the price-point justify the 'convenience' of a single device? Assuming separate charging pads and power supplies @ $25/device plus $50 for the Watch, for $100 I can charge everything I've got... and the real price is likely much less. So anything more than $100 is just the over-engineered Apple Tax.

2. Acknowledging that the idea is 'cool', is this really a problem? Given that we're in the middle (IMO) of an evolutionary jump in power management / charging capabilities... how quickly will this become obsolete? For example, assuming the AirPad supports a maximum iPhone charge rate of X. What happens next year with the iPhone 11 supports a charge rate of 2X?

1) It will be Apple's “Thinnest charging pad yet !!!”

2) Next year they will come out with a thinner charging mat that supports it. The charging mat that comes out a year after that will be slightly thicker, but support charging the new iPads.

Don’t forget having to buy updated AirPod cases every year.

You have never used a HomePod, have you?

No, and I probably never will. It’s too limited. Way too limited.

I rejoice in your happiness. But your charger won't charge a Watch and AirPods so it won't work for my needs.

And neither will Apples, unless you also buy a new case for your AirPods. I wonder what that will cost...

My Airpods are the only pair of headphones I ever use these days. I love them because they are so light, comfortable and convenient to use.

Here are the headphones I owned prior to the Airpods. Haven’t touched any of them since.

I now only have two, AirPods and QC 35s. No more BT earpiece for calls.

Imagine if the new AirPods case included active noise cancelling and a wired headlphone jack. I’d lose the QCs. Still need a wire for airline entertainment system. :(

So, what, exactly, is this to do with “air”?

Apples “AirPower” should be thought of as a power transfer protocol.

This first device is the AirPower Mat, which works only on contact.

IMO, it absolutely will have to do with “air” in the next device.

I miss the days when Apple waited to announce things until they were ready to launch within a month of that announcement.

To be fair the first iPhone was months away, and even out-of-the-box it wasn't the most terrific iOS.
