All I heard was higher prices.
Previously people was willing to pay because of their enthusiasm to the new innovation in iPhone. When those innovations faded out, the enthusiasm are also faded. Now the question, what can motivate people to pay a lot more other than innovation? Luxury? Exclusiveness? Bigger display? Longer battery? Lighter?

Board of directors: We don’t know how to increase sales without spending money to make our iPhones better!

Cook: Don’t you worry. I know how to do this. That’s why I’m the CEO. We’ll release an iPhone Pro Max and call it iPhone Pro Max PRO-er!

Board of directors: YASSSSSS!!!!!

Bring it on............Demand will be great, People want an ultimate iPhone with great bells and whistles as well superior Battery power and camera Underscreen face I.D. and as well as portless would be a nice start

No, I use an IPHONE 7 + which although no longer made is still useful, therefore not obsolete
I also know many people who use 10 year or older Mac’s, 5 years or more iPads and iPhones and most are not tech savvy enough to even update as they believe it will either break their device or change the experience, some of these people would be better suited to just use a non-smart phone flip or candy bar shape phone but to their logic that’s obsolete while some return to the non-smart phone flip devices thinking their cannot be tracked.

Even though the general consciences is that record discs, VHS, ATRAC, etc are obsolete there are always the outliers or stubborn or misinformed that it’s not and we the masses don’t know what we are missing. I am sure there is someone out there with the OG iPhone who still believes it’s not obsolete as it functions like the day their purchased it and all it needs is a battery replacement 😝

What is higher than Ultra? Uber dooper fast? Please just perfect the devices you have (Which you can barely sell or you have supply chain issues) and slim down. Kinda feels like Apple is going back to the days in the 90s before the Ipod came out.
Disregarding Apple's marketing, in the English language the ranking of comparative and superlative adjectives varies according to interpretation, but here's my attempt:
Good (Positive), Better (Comparative), Best (Superlative), As Good As Possible (Super-Superlative), [The following are "comparative" superlatives:] Super, Ultra, Mega, Colossal, Titanic, World-Shaking.

I’ll buy an Ultra only if it supports the Apple Pencil.

The Apple Pencil is oversized for the iPhone. Apple would need to make a smaller one to go along with an iPhone, just like there's an appropriately sized pencil for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.

Apple has discussed selling a new top-of-the-line iPhone alongside the Pro and Pro Max models in 2024 at the earliest, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Based on this timeframe, the device would be part of the iPhone 16 lineup or later.

In a September 2022 edition of his weekly "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said there was "potential" for an iPhone 15 Ultra to replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. In today's edition of his newsletter, however, he suggests Apple might instead release the Ultra as a new highest-end, higher-priced model next year at the earliest.

"But instead of renaming the Pro Max 'the Ultra,' Apple could add an even higher-end iPhone above both Pro models," said Gurman. "Internally, the company has discussed doing just that — potentially in time for the 2024 iPhone release."

It's unclear how the new high-end model would differ from the Pro and Pro Max, but Gurman speculated that the device could feature additional camera improvements, a faster chip, a larger display, and perhaps a portless design without Lightning or USB-C. He said the device would be "pricier" than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which starts at $1,099.

Don't like what appears to be the new trend at Apple. Before there products varied in price based on functionality type of work the owner did. Now it seems like they are making products to be targeted to social class buyer. The ultra expensive iPhone to be a status symbol and other models with diminished functionally for low class buyers.

1. buy a new car :DDD
2. stay with old phone

my question would be - why wired CarPlay exists in the first place.
Because Apple and car manufacturers only relatively recently worked out how to make wireless CarPlay work. There are millions of vehicles out there without a wireless connection and only a wired one. If an iPhone doesn’t have any ports, it can’t connect to those vehicles. With the minimal value that a wireless phone would bring it becomes an anti-feature in that situation.

Tim is pure greed.
Greed is good.
And when this $2000 AW ultra looking iPhone comes out they’ll worship it like the second coming. It’s getting boring.
Nobody worships an iPhone.
iPhone Pro Max Plus Ultra Edition

An Apple Employee will hand deliver it to you and will spend the rest of the product's functional life by your side holding and using your phone for you so you don't even have to lift a finger.
If they just called it the “penultimate”, then they would have room for “one more thing”. ;)
LMAO how stupid we were to think the Ultra would replace the Pro Max when all along Apple intended to release a Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra.
Who is this “we”, kemo sabe?
i am so done with Apple. they are bleeding everyone dry during difficult economic times but oh no think of the poor shareholders who have to deal with a 5% decline in profits!!!
Explain “bleeding everyone dry”, please. Did that mean old Tim Cook come over to your house or apartment and force you to buy Apple products At the point of a gun?

Or did he send his guys ”Vinnie” and “Joey” over to “encourage“ you to buy Apple Products?

For those who don’t know, it’s Vinnie who has the scar running down the side of his face. Joey‘s the guy with one gold cap and one missing tooth right next to it.
i'm going back to Android when my 12 pro max starts slowing down or breaks.
You say that like you actually might do it. I say if Apple has broken your knees, skull, and heart so badly, you absolutely, positively MUST escape your tormenter by going back to Android.
Tim Cook is just trying everything he possibly can to keep the company growing until he retires so he can say his legacy was great.
You seem angry. Are you okay?

When you lead a large publicly traded company, you must show increasing growth in earnings to be successful. Nothing else matters, and if you don’t produce, you can and you WILL be removed from your position.
Agreed! He’s a supply chain guy. All he cares about is generating money, money, and money. Expect more Service offers from Tim Cook until he retires. That is his main motive. Apple desperately needs someone who is Product Visionary.

I think in recent years Apple has lost that vision and the core value.
Supply Chain is NOT all about generating money, money, and money. Apple may have lost some vision, I suppose. But it‘s never fully clear. What I said
above is 100% true though, and that is that a company must be growing its earnings many times over…both each quarter compared to the year-ago same quarter, and also annually.

Apple‘s earning growth has slowed for this year, and is only going to increase by 9% in 2024.

No, Apple isn’t going to go out of business or anything drastic like that. At least not yet. But they are in a world of hurt right now, and it’s only because they are no longer a “super-powered” company. They’re just a “mere mortal” company right now, and things aren’t so easy for them.

If you took Superman’s powers of flight, x-ray and heat vision, and strength, and then made it so he could nick himself shaving in the morning and stub his toe when he’s out chasing down leads with Lois, he’s going to need time to figure out how to cope with that. And he needs to cope before he can start winning again.

This is where Apple is. Nicking itself shaving and figuring out how to cope in a post-Covid world where most people won’t be upgrading every 1 or 2 years.

Iphone PRO MAX PRO

EDIT: on a more serious note, Their SKUs are way too chaotic. Basically like the old windows vista basic/home premium/ultimate/enterprise that they made fun of back in the days.
Seriously. I hope they aren’t daft enough to make it even more complicated but we’ll see

If that ultra-high-end iPhone could have a 4" screen, THEN we'd have something! Happy to pay $1499 or more for that!

Yep, totally agree. Here's why I'm beginning to dislike Apple:
  • INSANELY expensive products on the high end that aren't even close in performance to their PC counterparts
  • Lack of expandability/upgradability
  • Lack of software support compared to Windows/Linux
  • Proprietary parts in all of their devices
My point being that it would be insanely stupid for Apple to release a "higher-end iPhone"--it just doesn't make any sense!
I need to see some real data. I use high end PC workstations, and I also use high end Apple Laptops. I have hard time finding a comparable PC laptop even remotely close to what Apple offers. I am not talking some 10 Min Benchmark videos. Heck Apple M1 Max makes my 4090 GPU run around circles. Nice rant though.

So they want to charge even more for a mass produced device on a Chinese factory line? Or do they want to try a squeeze in an M chip and make it foldable? And charge 3 grand for it.
And if it was a bigger screen without being foldable, who wants it? Is a 6.7” screen too small for a phone? What would it be 7.5”?

Meh think I’ll buy me a 13 Pro Max in that lovely blue colour next, and keep it for years.

That’s the only way a higher sku would make sense. It’s a foldable iPhone into something like an iPad mini. Anything else in the same form factor is likely just going to be features that would’ve went into the Pro Max instead.

Buy a new car, obviously. You're a pro right?

You’d buy the proprietary MagSafe car connector with built in connectivity. Shipped separately, in another box, on another day, from another truck in the road, because that’s best for the environment. Can’t include it in the box and have it come all at once now.

Pretty sure it'll be heavy enough to drop your sweatpants around your knees if you walk/run with it in your pocket.

The initial FOMO crowd will jump on this but once the high wears off the justification begins, it’s like the AW Edition in Gold etc. This is tech it will be obsolete the following year in some manner. Unless someone plans to keep this device for 4-5 years and looking to replace or have an iPhone/iPad device I can see the point otherwise it’s a risky gamble for the mass market.
It’s crazy because those AW editions were selling for 10-17k when they came out and Apple stopped supporting them after 2018, no wonder they stopped selling them a year later and we got stuck with the ceramic versions which they even got rid of those.

I saw one come up on the second hand market for like 6k but it wasn’t working and needed work, I figure only 1% of apple die hard fans would get it out of nostalgia but wouldn’t surprise how many topics we would of people here returning their iphone 16’s like they did with with the 14 pros

If you gave me a high end iPhone that can run MacOS in a VM and output it to an external display (AirPlay or USB-C), I’d be very happy.

We know it’s 100% possible at this point. The Mac Mini dev kits for the Apple Silicon transitions ran MacOS on an A12Z. We just need an iPhone with 8+ GB RAM.

I know this is probably a pipe dream but I’d absolutely use it when traveling. Hook it up to a USB-C dock that can connect to monitor, keyboard, and mouse and it’s a full computer.
