He didn’t say that’s it they are done fixing bugs. He wrote they have finished development. Meaning no new features right now. Just bug fixes.Performance still lags when doing simple things like App searching but crashes are far less than previous 16.x beta releases. Battery life also seems to be slowly improving. Looking to be heading in the correct direction as of Aug 21.
Even it being "finished" there are bugs they want to work out, plus the added features that will come later on. Also the "finished" version is just what they load onto the new iphones, it doesn't mean they are done working on it.Noob question : what’s the point in releasing betas if it is finished anyway ? 🤔
Like every year. The last few betas are just bug fixes.Makes sense since the last beta was very small and incremental.
Yes, I believe that happens every year. We should also see 16.1 beta 1 after the event.Release candidate at the event and then launch a week later? Sounds great!!
All what I need from iOS 16 is the ability to display battery percentage.
I’ve had no issues on my iPhone. The only issue on my iPad Pro is sometimes I’ll lose all my Safari tabs. That happened when I updated to the latest beta.Public Beta 4 runs mostly as smooth as iOS 15.6 for me. If Apple fine-tune it a bit more before the public release - it is a bonus, but the latest beta is already very solid, imo.
They’re always several bills ahead internally.Noob question : what’s the point in releasing betas if it is finished anyway ? 🤔
In the past Apple has released a product accompanied with a beta version of the OS they found stable enough to ship with. However that doesn’t mean that beta is close to a RC to the public. Something like this could mean the current OS’s in beta cycle since WWDC 2022 are not finished earlier at all and could be released a few weeks later.Noob question : what’s the point in releasing betas if it is finished anyway ? 🤔
Nope.Apple engineers wrapped up development of the initial version of iOS 16 last week, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This likely means that Apple has no major new features or changes planned for the remaining iOS 16 betas and will instead focus on bug fixes in the final weeks before the software update is publicly released.
I have to wonder at what point does the legal team start looking Grumman’s direction for leaks? Remember this from last year? The iOS 16.0 update, which Apple engineers finished work on this past week, is due to launch in September alongside watchOS 9. Those updates will correspond with the new hardware. The macOS Ventura and iPadOS upgrades, on the other hand, are now scheduled for October (after Stage Manager-related delays to the iPad software) to match the new hardware lineup.
By the time the public release comes around, dev beta testers will already be checking out 16.01 or 16.1. They need to solidify 16.0 on the new iPhones.Noob question : what’s the point in releasing betas if it is finished anyway ? 🤔
Why do i have the feeling Gurman is "allowed" to leak a few things now and then and build hype ?I have to wonder at what point does the legal team start looking Grumman’s direction for leaks? Remember this from last year?

There is a big widget for it, it shows over the battery icon and still shows in the Control Center - it can now be seen from virtually anywhere.
Because more bugs will be discovered in beta 7… 8. RC is pretty much a final version. Apple just can’t release the final version to the developers and public right away.Ok but then why not release the RC now so we can test it the next 3 weeks instead of beta 7 beta 8….?
@valleian interpreted my post correctly… the joke being in interpreting iOS 16 as a collective (16.x) instead of the initial version (16.0).How so? Not sure why this would impact iOS 17 schedule at all - release dates for iOS 16 remain as usual.
