Silly to launch everything in the fall.

A lot of people could afford one device in the spring and one in the fall but will think twice about buying two devices at once in the fall.

My predictions for 2022…

Spring - iPad Air, iPhone SE, Apple Watch SE, maybe new iPhone 13 colour option

WWDC - iMac Pro, Mac Pro, Higher end Mac mini

September - iPhone 14/14 Max/14 Pro/ 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 2

October or November - M2, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iPad Pro (however if iPad Pro is getting a redesign they may delay it until spring 2023 and launch it alongside the iMac M2 in which case we may just see a minor refresh of the 11” with the XDR display in the spring 2022).

And almost all of them will be stuck on the same architecture and chip. The M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max.

Then we wait 18 months for something better.

Might be good for short-term business, but I think software has fallen behind hardware quality, and I’m not sure if introducing new hardware requiring additional software will help.

So, no new Home Pods or Apple TV this year? You would think it least Home Pods would get a hardware upgrade and more.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the entire Apple ecosystem these days and most moves in the past few years.

My Wishlist to the ether:
  1. A quality Apple-branded monitor with built-in 4K webcam and USB-C hub, at a competitive price.
  2. Magic Mouse 3 with charging cable at the top (or Qi charging)
  3. Focus on whatever it takes to make Mac superb for AAA gaming (eg Apple support of developers). This will have effects down the line to all software, not just games.
  4. Make Siri much smarter and easily teachable when it comes to HomeKit
  5. AR that doesn't suck.
  6. Get the prices down on everything else

Surely they will be launching external displays when the new Mac Mini arrives...pretty stupid to have people still buy crap for their display.

I find it hard to believe that Apple would design another new Mac Pro, and completely exclude the option of discrete graphics.

I just don't think anyone is going to spend $10k on integrated graphics, no matter how good Apple has advanced it.
We’ll find out in 3 months what this spring event encompasses, but If Apple can take four M1 Max SoC’s and that becomes equivalent to a 40 core CPU and a 128 core GPU workstation using Darwin UNIX it be darn interesting to see how it performs when it is released.

Apple doesn’t release Macs only in the fall. WWDC is focused on the 5 OS’s mainly for developers, occasionally they announce specific hardware in the past but not recently. All the predictions about products in the last 2 years didn’t happen. Apple has switched to various events during spring and fall during this transition. Phones are always sept as you listed.

They've been working on updating the MacBook Air for quite a while now, nothing to brag about.

I agree 2021 was a very good year, but 2022 has the feel of something much bigger about to happen.

Ah that happens every year. Maybe more so this year because people are looking for some goodness anywhere they can get. Apple it is.

It’s not where there money is, but they should also make serious improvements and fundamental changes to their software.

MacOS 13. The 2021 MBP just barely had Monterey ready when it was released in fact they used some beta as 12.0 before it went public.
Why would a retro machine have an unreleased OS? I was thinking System 7.5 because that was the last OS called System. Or, maybe they use the 8 as an inside joke to point out that it isn't a clone.

Work on your software! It needs more work than your hardware!
Did you hear that single guy working at Apple? Didn’t you know this week is your week to write code. So, stop what you’re doing, put your soldering iron down, and get up stairs.
Next week is your janitorial duties week. Week after that is deliveries.
Hardware design isn’t scheduled again until next month.

I remember when Jobs came back and streamlined the product line because it was so convoluted and confused customers. Looks like we are back to that again. iMac, iBook, PowerMac, Power Book. Now we have 4 models of the same iPhone. So strange.
