Anyway, too late to have the BTO M2's in hand this year with the current delays.
But hey, they will be in time before xmas (2023 that is)

Exactly. He’s getting repetitive.
Pretty weak that he can’t, at the very least, tell us whether these are Q4 2022 or Q1 2023 launches.

I do believe him on the specs he’s prediciting though as they go against the wishful thinking I see so much of on MR and aligns with what Apple has actually done in the last year for new products and spec bumps.

He words everything in just such a way that he can be looked at as the goat if he's right and not get blamed if he's wrong. See? I said within months.

I should be an analyst. I can guess the same thing.

Would be nice to see a a silicone 27” iMac.

I suspect it WILL return... but branded as PRO with iMac Pro-type pricing.

In other words, take the Studio Monitor now and use the space within its thickness to engineer in the 14" MBpro tech guts. Subtract the cost of not including that MBs screen + speakers (trackpad becomes mouse). At what will Apple price that 27" iMac PRO or MAX?

My guess: "starting at $3999" but maybe as low as $2999-$3499 with minimal specs. Nicely configured is probably north of about $4K up to as much as about $7K.

In other words, my guess is that the days of getting a 27" all-in-one Mac for (starting at) $1X99 are over. And I suspect enthusiasm for a 27" iMac is closely associated with getting a whole Mac setup for <$2K for MANY- but not all of- the people longing for a new one. Roll out one with "starting at..." double-to-triple historical pricing and I suspect the enthusiasm for it will significantly wane.

It would make sense that the iMacPro will have an Ultra option so considering the size and weight of the Ultra-Studio's heat sink, I wonder how that will affect the 24" iMac's design. I hope it doesn't end up being a thick rectangle like the G5 iMac.

nice upgrade to the M1 Max's CPU and GPU. Hopefully they come out soon!

Apple is planning to debut several new Macs over the next several months, including new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Pro models, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is continuing work on the first Apple silicon Mac Pro, with the company reportedly ramping up testing of the device internally. The high-end Mac desktop is said to feature chip options that are at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max, dubbed the "M2 Ultra" and "M2 Extreme." Gurman expects the Mac Pro to be offered with options for 24 and 48 CPU cores and 76 and 152 graphics cores, along with up to 256GB of memory.

Gurman added specific information about one particular Mac Pro configuration that is apparently undergoing active testing at Apple: a model with 24 CPU cores (including 16 performance and eight efficiency cores), 76 graphics cores, and 192GB of memory. The machine is said to be running macOS Ventura 13.3.

As expected, Gurman said that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be available in M2 Pro and M2 Max configurations. The M2 Max will reportedly have 12 CPU cores (with eight performance cores and four efficiency cores) and 38 GPU cores, and will continue to come with up to 64GB of memory. The M2 Max is expected to continue to be available across both display size models.

The next-generation Mac mini will purportedly feature the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apple has tested an M2 Pro chip inside the new Mac mini, featuring increased core counts, but Gurman did not offer any further clarity about if the company is proceeding with that model.

While he does not expect the new Mac Pro to launch until 2023, Gurman said that he expects the next-generation MacBook Pro and Mac mini models to launch "within the coming months."

5000 iterations of ipads and laptops...one stinking imac size...bring back the 27" 5k imac !

Could be, but I DO NOT think a 27" PRO will get ultra (for that reason).

Basically I look at Studio Monitor (thickness) and see an easy fit for MBpro tech guts inside it (thus easy option for PRO and MAX). I suspect Studio Monitor was intended to be a new 27" iMac by that very approach but then something made them pull the plug on the Mac portion... probably/possibly to establish old "Starting at" iMac prices for a monitor alone, so that a new iMac that adds a whole computer + keyboard + mouse can double+ the starting at price and get somewhat rationalized.

This is kinda interesting as - assuming the Ultra is still 2 Max's joined together and the Max is still a Pro with doubled-up GPU cores - it reinforces rumours for the M2 Pro and Max specs as:

M2 Pro: 12 CPU, 19 GPU. (vs. 10/16 for the M1 Pro)
M2 Max: 12 CPU, 38 GPU (vs. 10/32 for the M1 Max)

...since those will be the new CPU and GPU cores with better single-core performance, that would have the M2 Pro equalling/beating the M1 Max in some cases, which would be quite a significant update.

On the other hand, the M1 Pro and Max already have some of the features that distinguish the regular M2 from the M1 - like LPDDR5 RAM and extra hardware codecs - and the M2 Pro/Max won't necessarily support any more RAM than their predecessors.

Then the $64,000 question is whether the 48 core Mac Pro is another expandable tower system or a sort of "Mac Studio Extreme".

Say what you want, but I've seen people use foldables in real life. They're awesome.
Only when you fold them over in the wrong direction with a loud crack sound and then throw them out of a car window for a dramatic Vince Gilligan street level closeup of the broken phone in front of a giant background of squeaky tires leaving the scene. Make that shot five seconds too long and then role the credits. Awesome phone!
