How can anybody be wrong with their coming sometime over the next several months? Such accuracy!Apple is planning to debut several new Macs over the next several months, including new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Pro models, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
But with a huge price increase.MBPs are bought by people performing actual work, so Apple knows they can't screw this up.
They were barely forgiven for the Touch Bar era fiasco.
They'll just swap M1 for M2 equivalents and call it a day. For the better.
Nope, the 2007 iMac Pro was only a stopgap for the delayed redesign of the trashcan Mac Pro. The large-screen iMac may or may not be branded Pro, but only referring to M2 Pro (and M2 Max) chips. These are $2000+ computers, not $5000+ like in 2007.I suspect it WILL return... but branded as PRO with iMac Pro-type pricing.
The M1 was disruptive because of how it’s innovative architecture bypassed so many of the bottlenecks that the previous personal computer processor had accumulated over decades of incremental improvements. The M2 ”chip” family is not architecturally different than the M1 family of ”chips”, which are actually system on substrate, not monolithic chip designs.Am I the only one who isn't excited at all about the new MacBook Pros after the disaster that is the refreshed iPad lineup?
Can't help but feel my optimism wither away...
And I know the exact day it will come out.I suspect the next iMac will be the first to get M3.
I have that special power too!And I know the exact day it will come out.
Exactly 15 days after I give up waiting, and buy a Studio and a display 😭
Funny, reading that on a 24" iMac. The first new Mac I found worth buying since 2010.It’s amazing how neglected the iMac is…
Fully agree … best non tablet computer I’ve ever owned. Super fast with the M1Funny, reading that on a 24" iMac. The first new Mac I found worth buying since 2010.
Apple's strategy seems to be let each product line get some time to shine in addition to the supply chain issues. Each generation of the Silicon seems to be lets preview it first on the entry level models first. MacBook Air and entry level MacBook Pro were the first to get M1. MacBook Air was the first to get M2. Considering the iMac is getting long in the tooth with M1, it would suggest they are going to either update it soon along side the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 in the 'coming months' or let those shine a little bit and let the next iMac be the first to preview M3 by April.I think you're right. Makes sense for the larger iMac Pro to get the M3 with the 24" getting the M2.
Apple really isn’t all that secretive. It is all part of the show.I always wondered about this Gurman fellow and being a leaker ish, why doesn't apple do anything about him since he literally spells out specs etc about upcoming units..unless he is good marketer for their investors that can help bump up stocks on rumours....But when youtubers start using his name to make videos based on his rumours, does apple care...i feel leaks and rumours are part of the marketing plan to drum up anticipation on products or even test the audience feedback on forums maybe...I know some big name companies often leak and then remove...
just curious.
prices have already been raised in June following the launch of the macbook airExpect huge price increases outside of the USA for MacBook Pros
I expect a 10 % price increase. We have a rampant inflation after all. Apple will be no exception.Do you think Apple will Release a new Mini with M2 for the current price and drop the price of the current M1 model.
Or, do you think that are going to pull the same trick as with the iPads and keep the current M1 Mini at it's current price, and release the M2 model at a higher price ?
I'm not convinced there will be an iMac Pro. I think it'll just be 24" and 27" iMac, both with M3.I think you're right. Makes sense for the larger iMac Pro to get the M3 with the 24" getting the M2.
Likely due to part shortages and manufacturing then letting each product have its time in the spotlight during lengthy pandemic period. As commented before Apple really has fallen behind against desktop models being released/updated. It does nothing good for Apple updating models too soon like the 14”/16” MBPs while seeming to ignore their other Mac models. When the studio came out, I thought they were firing on all cylinders until they abandoned the larger iMac. Now I am very skeptical of how many products Apple can cope with being released at the same time, and still supply the products adequately to consumers around the world.Apple's strategy seems to be let each product line get some time to shine in addition to the supply chain issues. They might go up even more. EUR has lost more value since thenprices have already been raised in June following the launch of the macbook air
No doubt this Mac pro will cost you a down payment on a house. Apple really set the bar low this year on their refreshes. Their entire product lineup is boring and sales will probably reflect that sentiment. With the likes of nvidia and amd tearing up the gpu and cpu space, I really don't see how apple can compete at their level with the Mac pro, especially when they are flaunting their abysmal 10-15% gains as revolutionary

In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is continuing work on the first Apple silicon Mac Pro, with the company reportedly ramping up testing of the device internally. The high-end Mac desktop is said to feature chip options that are at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max, dubbed the "M2 Ultra" and "M2 Extreme." Gurman expects the Mac Pro to be offered with options for 24 and 48 CPU cores and 76 and 152 graphics cores, along with up to 256GB of memory.
Gurman added specific information about one particular Mac Pro configuration that is apparently undergoing active testing at Apple: a model with 24 CPU cores (including 16 performance and eight efficiency cores), 76 graphics cores, and 192GB of memory. The machine is said to be running macOS Ventura 13.3.
As expected, Gurman said that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be available in M2 Pro and M2 Max configurations. The M2 Max will reportedly have 12 CPU cores (with eight performance cores and four efficiency cores) and 38 GPU cores, and will continue to come with up to 64GB of memory. The M2 Max is expected to continue to be available across both display size models.
The next-generation Mac mini will purportedly feature the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apple has tested an M2 Pro chip inside the new Mac mini, featuring increased core counts, but Gurman did not offer any further clarity about if the company is proceeding with that model.
While he does not expect the new Mac Pro to launch until 2023, Gurman said that he expects the next-generation MacBook Pro and Mac mini models to launch "within the coming months."
