Apple will announce several new M4 Mac models around the end of October, with the company planning to launch at least some of them as soon as Friday, November 1, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple will launch a new M4 version of its low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, as well as higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

Desktop Macs are not being left out of the refresh, either. Gurman reports that Apple is planning to unveil a redesigned Mac mini with both M4 and M4 Pro chip options. Additionally, the iMac is set to receive an update, with Apple's all-in-one desktop finally transitioning to the M4 chip.

A refreshed iPad mini is also reportedly on the horizon, with a potential release date in early November. This would mark the first update to Apple's smallest tablet since its redesign in 2021.

Looking further ahead, Gurman outlined Apple's hardware plans for the first half of 2025. The company is expected to introduce M4-powered 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, a new iPhone SE with Apple Intelligence, updated 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models with accompanying new Magic Keyboards, and a refreshed AirTag.

Mac power users may need to wait a bit longer for high-end desktop updates. While new Mac Studio and Mac Pro models with M4 chips are in development, Gurman says they are slated for later releases. The Mac Studio is anticipated around mid-2025, with the Mac Pro following towards the end of the year.

My M1 Max MacBook Pro is probably the best Mac I have ever owned...really don't see a reason to upgrade in regards to speed or performance yet. Also, given that it has Mini-LED and Promotion, there isn't much in the display department I am yearning for yet either.

I really want to see if Thunderbolt 5 comes because that, cellular and Face ID are more meaningful upgrades to me than just the M4 generation.

Got my M2 MacBook pro 512/16GB at probably the best price of the yr at Canada Costco few months ago.
Please I have to be strong and not try to upgrade

what spec you thinking?

Won't know until they are published but I'm getting 2, one for me, one for my parents. Mine will be a pro and probably a bump or two off of base RAM. The one for my parents will be a base unless the have stuck to 8gb, which I doubt, but if they do I will bump that RAM as well, 16gb'ish. I usually lean towards base storage as I have a NAS.

15-20% speed gains, and plenty of AI marketing.
After a couple weeks on iOS 18.1 on my 15 Pro, I realize how taxing AI processing is (I.e. how much my phone can slow down) and I look forward to having a Mac that has the horsepower to handle it. I too thought it was all marketing but I am starting to drink the AI look aid :)

It could be a much larger performance increase for Lightroom users. In March, Lightroom switched to using the Neural Engine for Denoise instead of using the GPU.

We will see how much of an improvement after some people have it for testing. My guess is 50%+ improvement for Denoise which currently takes 30s per image depending on the size.

This could drive some upgrades for those using Lightroom for photo editing.
