Consider the iPad mini 7 as an 8.3-inch iPad Air. While it will not include a Magic Keyboard, it will gain the same Apple Pencil Pro and a multitude of other features. The primary concern is whether it will be equipped with the M2 chip or only the A18 chip. Please share your thoughts on this matter.

Can you give me the model number to that ?
Yes.

The other closest one is this, but caps 120hz

After a couple weeks on iOS 18.1 on my 15 Pro, I realize how taxing AI processing is (I.e. how much my phone can slow down) and I look forward to having a Mac that has the horsepower to handle it. I too thought it was all marketing but I am starting to drink the AI look aid :)
Meaning, M1, M2 and M3 will be able to run AI, but Apple will market M4 like the others don't exist out there.

It could be a much larger performance increase for Lightroom users. In March, Lightroom switched to using the Neural Engine for Denoise instead of using the GPU.

We will see how much of an improvement after some people have it for testing. My guess is 50%+ improvement for Denoise which currently takes 30s per image depending on the size.

This could drive some upgrades for those using Lightroom for photo editing.
Perhaps. Don't use LR.

I didn’t know about the Odyssey but I was going to suggest the U4025QW.

I don’t think you need to worry much, this CES in January I’m sure they’re going to announce a lot of 5K2K 100Hz+ Monitors, given the popularity of the dell.

Yes.

Also , do you have any idea what versions of the current chips can run this at full capacity ?

I know the base M3 can’t run it

So Apple expects us to pay full price for a Mac Studio, which is lagging two whole generations behind the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini lineup, for 8-9 months or more?

Get a grip, Apple!
Totally agree! I think Mac Studio should be the one leading the charge so the one next summer should have M5 Ultra and Max and the rest follow working downwards later in the year

OLEDs on laptops concern me. There’s far more static content on a desktop OS, vs a phone, tablet or TV, and people tend to leave a screen on the same thing for longer.

for something intended to last 5-8 years, I wouldn’t want to baby the screen through fear of burn in

Burn-in risk is much lower with tandem OLED, because each individual light runs much lower on average.

Yes.

The vertical resolution of that is too low, though. Apple does 14.7 million pixels; this is about half that.

Desktop Macs are not being left out of the refresh, either. Gurman reports that Apple is planning to unveil a redesigned Mac mini with both M4 and M4 Pro chip options. Additionally, the iMac is set to receive an update, with Apple's all-in-one desktop finally transitioning to the M4 chip.
Like to see more design refreshes rather than pop a better SoC into products. The iMac just getting a M4 seems boring. While a redesigned M4 Mac mini comes across as more attractive. Also offer better displays as purchasing options for Macs. See which takes off and is more desirable. Not talking about that Nano-texture glass, like better display technology (OLED).

The question in my mind is whether the M4 Macs will have TB5, which is needed if you want a 5K monitor with higher refresh rates and only a single cable.

Not sure the M4 can support TB5. It did not appear on the iPad Pro update.

Also, M4 will have fewer TOPS from its NPU compared to the latest from Qualcomm, so bragging rights are lost.

However, the M4 Max version may double the NPU?

I'll wait for the M5, and given Apple seems to not be in a rush to come out with new Studio models, maybe they are waiting too. However, 2nm chips will be much more expensive:

TSMC 2nm wafer prices will double

So perhaps M5 Macs will show a similar increase in prices, especially if Apple moves to stacked OLEDs for the displays.

I'll wait until Fall 2025 and see what 2nm brings.

What about the standard iPad? (10th gen) It's from 2022. I want to get one for a kid but I don't want to get one that is that old.
No rumors so far, not even for spring. It’s also difficult to meaningfully improve on the current model without encroaching into Air territory.
