My AW S3, which I’ve had since launch, still lasts over 2 full days and nights. It would probably last 3 days (but not a 3rd night) if I put it on the charger once for 15-20 minutes during one of my showers.

Did AW battery life get progressively worse after each iteration?

A Display that is always on.... Need I explain more?

So what’s the difference between this rumored Apple Watch SE and what Apple has done in the past with keeping around a previous model (sometimes with updated chip) at a lower price? Just a marketing name? Didn’t everyone expect the lower priced series 3 would get replaced with the series 4?

SE is such a dumb marketing name. They should retire it not bring it to more products.

sounds like you have a problem. I have the series 2, and while slow, i can still get a day and a half out of the battery.
Yeah sorry, but a day and a half is no better than a single day. A watch is designed to be worn during the day. What's the point if you have to take it off your wrist halfway during the day and charge for a few hours?

The display also got larger after the Watch Series 3 (32% for the larger model, 35% for the smaller). While the battery capacity actually went down from Series 3 to Series 4 (17% and 19%), probably because the Watch got thinner (by 6%).

The whole iPad processor predictions maze ZERO sense unless they update the iPad pro to an A13X or A14X. Apple putting an A12 inside the budget iPad and the A14 inside the Air is bonkers.

So the real question is......do they do a speed bump to the Pro? Why not since the vast majority of us who have the Pro have the 2018 model.

I've never owned a 3 or below, but I am very impressed with the battery life on my 4. With moderate use I can get two days out of it. The S4 SoC runs more efficiently so battery life should balance out. The S5 is basically the same as the S4. However, the always on display does take a hit on battery life so that kind of cancels out the new processor.

Probably won't be an 'X' chip.

Rumours for a while have pointed to an iPad Pro bump in late 2020.

A few thoughts and comments on AW from someone who's read all the comments.

1. I don't understand how people say that AW4 and AW5 are the same thing! I guess these people never wore real watches prior to getting an AW, like I have 24/7/365 for 30-35 years or so. Always On screen is what finally, in my mind, allows one to call the AW a "watch".

2. All rumors seem to point to AW SE being in the "new" AW4/5 case/design. So it's relatively simple, it will be that case/design, it will be cheaper by having the older screen that does not allow for Always On; it will have a processor that's likely at least one (or possibly two) generation(s) behind AW6; it will surely be lacking some features like EKG and definitely the new oxygen sensor, but not sure how many other "fitness" related features will be taken out as Apple correctly now calls this a health/fitness device (especially if they're also rolling out a new fitness app w/ subscription), but they will likely take out a few other features out of it (for ex: does Apple still sell AW3 in LTE or is it just Wifi now?); it will surely be made either out of aluminum (cheapest material previously offered) or possibly but unlikely even some sort of plastic/polycarbonate.

They need to get <£200 to compete with fitbit and other lower priced fitness trackers.
They’d be stupid to do that.

Thats where i thought its would be but my Apple TV shows nothing under Apple Events except for previous events....i.e WWDC 2020 and previous events. No event for Sept 15th 2020
It's on the Apple TV "App" not the Apple TV. Go to the "APP" on any device that has the APP.

Are we expecting the "Apple Watch SE" to come in stainless steel and aluminium? Just aluminium? Plastic? Isn't it supposed to be $199, don't see basically a S5 being sold for that low.

If you remember, the S5 is basically an S4 with an always on display. Take away always on and you’ve got yourself a two year old design. They might be able to swing the $199 price point off that.

I’m interested in a new Apple Watch, especially if there are battery improvements. My 4’s battery only lasts 12 hours on a good day (and takes 2 - 3 hours to fully charge) so it’s quickly becoming a bother to use. This is with few apps installed, raise to wake turned off, most background app refresh turned off, 30 minutes of exercise each day, and no use for messaging or email or phone calls.

Something isn’t right. My S5 gets closer to 36 hours with everything turned on, and a 1hr workout almost every day.

Sure, but the Series 4 already pretty much fits that SE picture. It has an S4 which will be de facto one generation behind the S6 (as the S5 didn't really change much), and I really doubt they would put in a 2017 processor (S3). It has by definition the S4 case design. It does not have the always-on screen.

Meaning, except for the EKG (which was added in the Series 4), this SE would simply be the Series 4.

Yeah ok makes sense.

I did. Not showing on my phone either under the Apple TV app...only previous events.
Hmmm dunno. On my phone it's under the "Watch Now" and then scroll down to Apple Event, and then the "Time Flies" shows. Do you see that? If not, you might try closing the app and rebooting your phone?

What in the world is going on with Apple TV hardware that would necessitate delays? Really strange. (I know this isn’t one most people are really pining for, I’m just curious. I skipped the 4K so I’m mildly interested).

Also would be pretty wild if the Apple Watch SE is basically an Series 5– unless they price it higher.
