They should increase the price of the XDR Pro Stand, I mean, it’s way to cheap. Right?
I don't think so. I'd say, ultra-wide is a trend recent enough that it wouldn't have been relevant before, but this does make an Apple ultra-wide screen even less likely.Has Apple ever released a display wider than 16:9?
That's in the Gurman's newsletter as well. Not sure why it's not in the Macrumors article.Im wondering if the Silicon in the displays can one day be used to offload some of the work off the CPU/GPU in AS Macs.
Are you thinking that the 7k 32" won't have ProMotion? My guess is Apple will release two new Pro Display XDR models in 2023.
The first will be a replacement for the current one, staying at 32" by moving to 7K resolution per rumors that 9to5Mac dropped in March 2022.
The second will be 27" and 5K and will end up being the ProMotion Mini-LED display Ross Young has been talking about the past year (and Ming Chi Kuo first outed in early 2021).
People dont believe 5k 120hz is technicially possible. If they label it a Pro Display XDR, that would set it apart from the Apple Studio Display as a higher-end model.
Also, speculation is that this display will be at least $1000 more expensive than the Apple Studio Display so it would be aimed at a different market segment and Apple's expectation is that people would not generally cross-shop the two displays.
Wait, the miniLED displays in the new MacBooks use PWM? I've never noticed or been able to capture it in slo-mo on iPhone footage.Apple will make their monitors even worse by using pulse-width modulation (PWM, aka flickering) like they do in their phones and newer laptops. Then they’ll charge $1,000 more for the privilege.
Forums yes! Hardware articles: headlines only. 😂Yet here you are, posting on an enthusiast forum… 🙂
Apple badly needs to expand their external displays given the types of displays available. (HDR capable Mini LED, OLED) They also need to make a more affordable LED adaption of the current 27” studio display with a better FaceTime camera. I don’t think center stage functionality is necessary to reduce cost.In his newsletter today, Gurman said the new monitors will be powered by Apple silicon, just like the Studio Display has an A13 Bionic chip. He did not share any additional details, or a timeframe for the monitors launching,
on technical side, 5k@120hz is possible now, but since we are talking about the pro XDR display, we are talking about at least 6k@120hzPeople dont believe 5k 120hz is technicially possible.
5k 120hz mini-led panel should support HDR like the Macbook Pro, but it would replace the position of current Display XDR. If the new XDR monitor is 32 7K that would be over-priced comparing to the ASD Pro.
The speakers are not good. Remove them to further decrease the price or upgrade the speakers.Hopefully they'll fix the abysmal camera on the Studio display, and cut the price by at least $100 while they're at it.
they will put the $600 wheels on it:They should increase the price of the XDR Pro Stand, I mean, it’s way to cheap. Right?
People were wondering the same thing a decade ago with the original Thunderbolt display.Im wondering if the Silicon in the displays can one day be used to offload some of the work off the CPU/GPU in AS Macs.

What I fault Apple with is trying to pitch the 27" studio display as necessary for someone that has a 2021 14"/16" MBP, or the recent 2020/2022 MBA's which already has FaceTime camera, speakers. The same is true for iPad Pro usages with an external display. The display duplicates what you already have with these products. I recognize most displays have built in camera/speakers but its doesn't need to be sophisticated using a A13 for example.Personally, I think Apple is not trying to chase display marketshare. I believe we got the Studio Display because Apple has decided that the Mac Studio is the formal replacement for the iMac 5K and therefore needed to offer an external version of the iMac 5K's display to be paired with a Mac Studio.
