I got my 13 mini and I hope they don’t release another mini any time soon so I won’t be enticed to upgrade anytime soon. My first iPhone was the 7 plus having come over from the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 6 before that, then the iPhone XS and then the 12 and I honestly couldn’t stand how big that phone was which was off because I used to be all about big phones. I’d be happy with an even smaller iPhone, tbh and I’m not sure if it’s just because I don’t really care about using my phone for anything other then reading a few articles online, messaging and taking a few videos or pictures or because battery life is more than acceptable in a small phone like the 13 mini or a combo of all of that.

I hope Apple don’t adopt the hole punch for the front facing camera. I’m still going to upgrade anyway as I’m on a 2 year upgrade cycle now.

I'd take "a smidge thicker", no bump, a bigger battery, and my freaking jack back, any day of the week.
So a 1cm thick phone roughly (0.39") iPhone would be acceptable to you? I just measured my Apple case on my iPhone 13 Pro and thats 1.1cm (0.43") to protect the lens bump but its almost flush with the camera bump still say 1mm thicker to protect it and allowing for deviation in different cases its still thick, so say take off 1mm for it to be flush with the camera and its about 1cm (0.39") that's still one thick phone, most would not want a behemoth like that with current screen sizes, it would be heavy too and look ridiculous.

I hope they get rid of the camera bump. It is atrocious design. I don't believe Steve Jobs would have allowed it and I am surprised if Jony Ive did. Just make the phone a smidge thicker and remove the bump.
The notch is atrocious.

The camera bump is fine - they started that with the 11 pro, and it became an iconic feature

On the 13 pro it does look a bit ridiculous. And the 13 pro is pretty fat, too.

I still think the 12 pro was by far the ugliest iPhone ever made; and the 13 pro is only a small improvement in terms of looks - slightly less ugly. But that being said, I was just helping a friend buy an Android phone - best one money can buy - and I have to say, these new Android phones are ... abhorrent. Fugly. They're massive bricks with camera bumps that look like strange robots. Pretty much almost all of them. Did not find a single one that looks nice.

Hello, will only a Mac Book Pro of 14 inches be presented in October or December or will there be different sizes again or just a Mac Book Pro with M2

A hole punch is much better than the notch for sure.

Though I have an idea. Hear me out and buckle in everyone, this will change the landscape. What if... we just leave a little bit of bezel so the camera isn't obstructing the screen at all?

Yes, I know, I'm basically the next Steve Jobs for having come up with that industry changing idea.

Seriously, I don't get everyone's obsession with wanting a camera awkwardly blocking out pixels on their screen. Nothing better than looking at photos with a notch or punch hole eating away at part of it and taking you out of the photo. Same with having a nice website somehow being visually eclipsed when a hole punch or notch is sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of it. Obviously this goes for Android and iPhone equally and not just an Apple. But seriously, why is it even a thing?

I like how the new Macbook Pro tries to remedy the notch for fullscreen apps that aren't aware of the notch by... not using the screen space and effectively turning it into a bezel again. A bit of a clue I may be onto something with my radical idea?

Maybe, just maybe, lets wait until we are able to put cameras under the screen or something so we don't have to have them blocking out screen space.

Perhaps Apple shouldn't let content go into the "ears" on the left and right of the notch in the first place. Just keep it blacked out and use it for clock and status icons only.

In a normal vertical app... there isn't anything important on either side of the notch anyway. It's for clock and status.

But people freak out about other apps. To that I say... I don't know why a game, or a video, or a photo ever needs to extend into the "ears"

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

See, that would be a pretty decent secondary solution if they simply must keep injecting the hardware over the screen. They sort of do that in the new Macbook Pro too, but the menu bars on Macs can get fairly long and the notch can get in the way of selecting options and force you needing to scroll when you otherwise wouldn't have to. But still, way better than covering content or simply not using the screen space.

It would be strange if they managed to hide the dot projector, IR camera, flood illuminator, proximity sensor etc under the screen but not the selfie camera.

First of all, they won't be able to get rid of it - because physics. Not anytime soon, anyway, not if they want to have thin phones and good cameras.

Second, Steve Jobs would have allowed it - again, because physics.

Third, "Steve Jobs would never allow it" became a substitute for "I don't like it" at this point.
Not really. Just people that understood what he would OK through 30+ years of seeing what he allowed through tells us that the notch would not have gone through. You hiding behind the word "physicals" as if its impossible to do anything else is a pretty poor argument.

Something like the iPhone would not have even existed at all in the 50s because of "phYsIcS". Its just small steps of progress that got us here. The notch will eventually go away for the same reasons.
