So the 14 Pro has the following over the standard 14 if the rumours are true:

- 120hz screen
- Always on display
- Pinhole/capsule (14 keeps the notch)
- A16 chip (normal 14 getting a variation of the A15)
- Better camera (as always)
- More premium build quality (as always)

Unless the standard 14 is going to be considerably cheaper (i.e. $300/$400+), Apple REALLY need to bump the spec/features of the regular 14. Should have at least the 120hz display.

The regular iPhone 14 purely exists to keep the price of the Pro as it is. In fact, thanks to the additional regular 14 Max, the Pro will most likely become more expensive

No way. The regular iPhone will stay the same price or more. Remember they are getting a big screen now. Thats a great improvement for those who what a big screen but not the best specs.

I’d be selling my 13PM for the 14PM. It sucks that Apple doesn’t have amazing trade-ins like Samsung.

My pricing guess for upcoming iPhone line up:

iPhone 14 = $799
iPhone 14 Max = $899
iPhone 14 Pro = $999
iPhone 14 Pro Max = $1099

Unfortunately the MacRumors editors seem to be in luv with him though. I think at least 90% of the rumors they publish are just pure guesses and speculations. I get a kick out of how the mindless folks here about buy into these unfounded guesses nearly every time though.

iPhone 14 Pro models are widely expected to feature always-on displays that allow users to view glanceable information without having to tap to wake the screen. In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said the feature will include support for iOS 16's new Lock screen widgets for weather, fitness, and more.

"Like the Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to show widgets displaying weather, calendars, stocks, activities and other data while the screen remains at a low brightness and frame rate," wrote Gurman. "And there will be a setting—also like the Apple Watch—that keeps sensitive data from appearing on the lock screen for all to see."

The always-on display will also likely be able to show the time, date, and unread notifications indicator. In line with the Apple Watch, which has featured an always-on display mode since the Series 5, it is likely that Apple will give users the option to enable or disable the always-on display on iPhone 14 Pro models via the Settings app.

As mentioned by Gurman, the iPhone 14 Pro's always-on display mode should preserve battery life with a combination of lower brightness and a low refresh rate. Introduced on iPhone 13 Pro models, ProMotion allows the display to drop as low as 10Hz when idle, and display industry analyst Ross Young expects that iPhone 14 Pro models will likely be able to drop down to as low as 1Hz like the Apple Watch for further power efficiency.

Apple will likely unveil its iPhone 14 lineup around September as usual, barring any major supply chain disruptions. Only the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to feature always-on displays, but the feature could trickle down to standard models in the future.

Gurman also said Apple is planning a new Mac mini with an M2 Pro chip, a new Apple TV with an A14 chip, a revamped HomePod, and more.

I'm shocked shocked to read this. Just shocked

My pricing guess for upcoming iPhone line up:

iPhone 14 = $799
iPhone 14 Max = $899
iPhone 14 Pro = $999
iPhone 14 Pro Max = $1099

Those are pretty dreamy prices. Add at least $200 to the Pro models.

MacBook Air already told us Apple’s new pricing is +20% due to inflation.

People complain about iPhone 14 not getting any new features. But the reality is, we’ll be lucky if we get the same specs without a price increase.

I expect a $100 price increase for the Pro models to segregate it further as the top of the line iPhone. The regular iPhone model will turn into a midrange phone with a flagship price.

Wait, why does AOD requires such advance hardware when pretty much any Android phone with an OLED screen has that feature for ages?
And don't tell me that the iPhone 12 and 13 won't get AOD because it requires the faster A16 neural engine...

Basically battery life I imagine

Absolutely no chance the 14 Pro will be under $1k with the 14 starting at $799 given the spec bump and inflation.

More like:

iPhone 14 = $799
iPhone 14 Max = $899
iPhone 14 Pro = $1099
iPhone 14 Pro Max = $1100

And that's being hopeful, wouldn't be surprised if all of them were $50-$100 higher. Just look at the new MacBook Air prices.

What Apple will do is increase the price of the 14 Pro models, not bumping the spec of the lesser model. I expect $1100 for the 14 Pro and $1200 for the 14 Pro Max, and still with 128GB base storage.

Android took advantage of OLED properties early on by making simple AODs with time/notifications that continually improves now with widgets etc. But they're specialized to preserve battery life, utilizing mostly black properties of OLED.

But I guess Apple's interpretation of AoD will be the actual full lockscreen being on all the time....

But I can really see the selling point of the 14 Pro models now. No phones have their actual real lockscreen becoming the same AoD yet. I guess Apple wins on that one.
